I love this computer. It's fast, easy to use, and has all of the features I need for my school work.

I bought it as a gift, but set it up & tried it out first. Windows 8 is for a touch screen & this is not a touch screen. It takes a bit of time to get used to using W8. The lap top seems to work well. I read Windows 8.1 is out and improves keyboard compatibility. , but I have not been able to find or download it. I also hear Windows 9 is around the corner so I would not recommend buying a w8 computer unless it was deeply discounted.

I really wanted to like this. Really. I just didn't like the way the touch pad and keyboard worked. The touch pad seemed non-responsive, and the keys seemed harder to press than any other laptop I've ever used. The screen is great, and it is a fast computer for the price. It's an excellent value, but I am going to sell mine and get something different.

Had to buy my wife a new laptop last year when her old one died and my son had a chance to try it out and loved win8. I have always had a preference for asus as they make good products and this laptop is no exception. works very well and my son is able to play all of his games and talk to his friends with no problems. worked great right out of the box. would definitely recommend this to someone who is looking for a new laptop.

this is a great laptop for any person who is starting or who had one before can't go wrong.

the computer is good price, but it workded very well

This is a relatively good budget notebook. The only real issues I have are: It's not expandable The screen - you have to be positioned just right to see it Wireless connection issue which is actually related to the ATHEROS AR9485 Wireless adapter (Other notebooks from Sony and others incorporating this chip also have connection issues)

excellent product for the money. does everything i need it to do, I wasn't used to windows 8.1 am getting used to it. Would recommend it to my friends and family.

I shopped around for a low-priced computer with decent specs. I really like the HDMI output, the high-speed USB port, and this is the only one I found that also included a CD/DVD player/recorder for $230. The player is not outstanding, and does not always automatically recognize a CD (like in itunes), but I did not have high expectations for a computer this cheap. I don't care much for Windows 8, which came pre-loaded, but that is not the computer's fault. Overall, a great laptop and seems to work just as well or better than a Toshiba I bought 5 years ago and paid 3 times the price.

A powerful laptop with a decent battery life and a drawer for CDs/DVDs, this beauty is no-nonsense and all beast. Except for the ASUS menu screen that continues to be superfluous, an unwelcome guest at my party who keeps showing up at the darnedest time. And I'm told nobody installs Windows anymore to keep the price down, so I had to go searching for a copy. Otherwise, so far, it keeps chugging away nicely.

This is ok for using to access the internet, but there is no preloaded DVD software. Windows 8 is not my favorite either.

For a non-technologically savvy women who has used PCs but no laptops and was unfamiliar with Windows 8.1, I must say I was surprised at the ease of use with this notebook. I have always used Windows 7 or earlier programs and had been frightened of the 8 or above due to comments made to me. It has been fine. I love the portability of this machine. The price was exactly right for what it can do for me in terms of use.

Good for the price for the it is selling for. Needed something affordable as a gift for a friends 12 year old son on his birthday and this was the least expensive I could find to do the job.

Works well. I'm not very pleased with Windows 8 as it is difficult to navigate. Noticed that the battery is not accessible(strange), so a hard reboot is not possible.

I wanted to wait a month or so before reviewing - just in case! This ASUS hasn't disappointed. I use it for 3D engineering, 3D graphics and animation, music production (recording and editing) and video production. I was profoundly surprised with how well it handled my 3D CAD and animation applications. There are NO latency issues when recording digital audio. The 2 USB ports are a bit limiting, especially for my purposes. But I usually wind up getting a couple of hubs anyway. The construction is typical for a $200 laptop - just be careful when transporting. A nice laptop bag will do the trick. I bought this as a temporary replacement for my tower workstation. I am so happy with it, I haven't gotten another workstation yet.

We run Office and surf the web like a pro on this laptop. For the low price, it is great for my high school junior to do papers and projects. Much better than spending double or triple for our needs.

great product so far was a gift so i only set it up but for a basic computer for a non tech savy person it has a cd drive witch is hard to find on a laptop for this price and size and is very strong not made of cheap plastic actually feels ike you got your money worth if it lasts 2 -3 years it was worth it

It meets all my needs and not even expensive. A special thank you to Boram for all your help deciding which one to buy and putting all my needs on it. Also explain things to me. Special thank you to the Geek Squad for their patience with a not so computer savy. I have already used the twice and really appreciate their help answering questions and taking over when I needed it. Would buy another computer when I need to at Best Buy, Daytona Beach . I was not pushed into anything, only helped and explained what each computer had to meet my basic needs. I have an Asus only $229 instead a Toshiba which I originally was going to get because my sister wanted me too at the same price.

The Laptop's body is very basic. It's plastic. But it's understandable because the cost of the laptop was under $250. This is a perfect laptop for a person that in only interested in web surfing and emails. And perhaps some coding and graphics depending on the programs used. I am not a windows fan because I hate HATE the OS but for the price, why not. You will not be disappointed.
