This laptop is not impressive. However, what the laptop does is work. It can do programming, software writing, data analysis, literature research, digital correspondence, and video streaming. It is a great portable, light-weight laptop to use for work or leisurely functions. In short, this is not the type of PC for the intense electronics personality (overclocking), but it will do most everything else.

Would recommend highly! It's a great laptop for the money. great for school or work.

I received this notebook as a gift. It seems to fit my needs: web browsing, social media, and online school. Pages load a little slow, however. It's fine for me but I wouldn't choose this for my college-bound kid.

I purchased this system on sale at BestBuy.com. Very good price and reviews that seemed OK. Starting using it in Feb 2015, mostly for email and light Internet access processing. I have had a Power problem in early March. Since I was still under Warranty, I sent system to Support group. They replaced the Motherboard. Really!! a lightly used 3 month old system! After receiving the system back from Support, the same problem happened again. Solution was to replace the Mogherboard again. Really!!! After that, I had another Power problem, so I sent it in again and it was returned with a "action taken" of "REASSEMBLED". I called them and they could not get a better explaation of what they did. The system powered on, but would not connect to my Wireless Network. Their solution was to reboot the Windows 8.1 system accepting the original system settings. That fix seems to have worked. I can now get to my WiFi, but response time is poor. This is a model X55 system and I have now read many negative reviews of this system, with all complaining about Motherboard problems. Do NOT buy this particular model.

The main problem is that it has Windows 8, still not a fan. It was a gift for my daughter. She has problems with the audio working when she plugs in her headphones.

My whole family enjoys the laptop. It's very sleek. It's very easy to operate. It has a lot of useful apps. I am a full time student and I believe that the laptop will be very helpful with my school work.

Got it as a spare backup laptop for the entire family, mainly for web surfing and information gathering. The Asus X551MAV-HCL1201E exceeded all my expectations for a laptop at this price range.

I have always purchased HP computers and was very hesitant to purchase an Asus because I had never heard of this company. I am now a big fan! This laptop is better than the HP I purchased a year ago. The price was about $150.00 less. I compared video downloads side by side and this Asus had much better resolution. I am very happy with this purchase!

I always buy tech stuff that is just barely current. I'm the antithisis of those I-people who wait in line to pay a premium for the latest & greatest version. I get it, I'm not cool, but I get the most out of my money. TheX551MAV-HCL1201E laptop seems well built, its big and pretty heavy, and handles everyday tasks well enough. I hate Windows 8 but I'll get used to it.. This retires a 10 yr old xp machine.So far so good
