This laptop is hands down a great buy for the money. It does everything we need it to for school & some gaming. Very user friendly. Would recommend it to everyone. I am buying a 2nd one for my other son.

I went to Best Buy to buy a phone case, and while there ended up looking at laptops because I have been contemplating replacing my very outdated HP laptop. The employee helping me was knowledgeable and listened to my needs (basically internet search, email and medium volume photo/video storage). We narrowed it down to this laptop and he even took the time to find an open box item when I asked about that. I got home and started up my laptop, connecting to our home wireless without a problem. As dusk hit, I realized I could no longer see the keyboard and I searched all over for a keyboard backlight, to no avail. I called the Geek Squad and they looked up the Model # and confirmed this model did not have a keyboard backlight. My cheap HP has that light and I do find it very helpful for those times when I don't want to turn on bright lights just to use my laptop (eg. if I am looking something up while we are watching a movie at home). So unfortunately back it went. I had asked about 15 questions regarding the laptop's features, but now I have to make sure I add that feature to my list in my laptop search.

This laptop is good for its price. It is important to note that the i3 processors are the best value processors to buy. They are far better than the Celeron and only slightly bellow the i5 in terms of performance. Today most of the applications are multi threaded, so a double threaded processor is roughly equal to a dual core processor in 90% of the time. As for this laptop, the inbuilt speaker and webcam are good enough. The wifi is working fine, DVD writer is fine. It has all basic drives (Ethernet, 2 USB, HDMI, SD, etc). It looks elegant and does not look like a $300 plus laptop at all - it has the look of a $600 plus laptop. Overall it is a good value laptop for the money.

The price was reasonable. I like all the features. My ASUS has everything I need and more I have not explored yet. I do wish it had more software preloaded. Overall I am happy with this product.
