This laptop has been a nightmare. Keys on the keyboard quit working and kept loosing internet. Sent to Asus they replaced the keyboard and fixed the loosing internet. Now it takes 20 minutes to startup and 2 to 3 minutes to load a page. My 10 year old desk top with windows 7 is faster and more reliable. Now they say it needs a new hard drive and is out of warranty. I would not buy another Asus product.

Do not buy this laptop. I was under the impression that all laptops were the same and that they were using the same hardware to build them since it has become so competitive but I was wrong. This company is using only cheap and bad hardware that gives you what looks like a nice laptop but is really just a cheap version of something that will make you frustrated to use. Nope, do not buy this laptop.

This laptop is so slow, that if it were any slower it would be working backwards!! Takes 5 minutes to load up the home screen, and very long to open up websites. The screen is not very bright or clear. Very disappointed in this laptop. Will be taking it back and trying to get a little back for it on a trade in for a better one.

    Excellent Deal

I only spent about $327 on this laptop. My plan was to be able to use it for gaming, database processing, and running several applications at once. When I got the laptop the first thing I did was bought a 240GB SSD from Best Buy and used Paragon Migrate Tool to clone the original drive with the OEM data on it, then installed the SSD. Next, I bought a 4GB SO-DIMM Module ($25 on Amazon) and installed it. This laptop now runs like a $700-800 laptop. There is not much of a difference between the Intel i3 and i5 chip. The i5 has 4 cores, the i3 has 2 turbo cores(4 and 4). There is another protection feature with the i5, but the i3 is essentially the same. All together, the laptop at $327, SSD at $60, Paragon Software $20, and the SO-DIMM at $25, I spent $432 and am completely satisfied. My only problem is that ASUS Support does not have drivers for this product on their website. Other than that, great laptop.

Cheapest Laptop you can get for this specs

Got this in Best Buy for $299 on Black Friday. It's the cheapest Laptop you can get for this specs. I was looking for a more advance computer to do my video editing in Adobe which needs at least a dual core processor and at least 2 Ghz and 4G ram to do my video editing. I did not want to spend more on the computer after spending almost $400 on my action cam. Welah! This computer is an i3 processor, 2 Ghz, 4G Ram, and 1 Terabyte Hard Drive!. The computer still have a lot of flaws, but for the price you can't go wrong.

This is an excellent machine, at a good price; which came p reloaded with Windows 10 which was a big bonus Great budget laptop and would absolutely recommend if you are seeking an all round capable machine under $300. it's light weight and quiet. Perfect for general use such as web browsing/email/Microsoft office, playing videos. Do not expect high end gaming on this but otherwise for the average person's requirements, including lower spec games ( Mine craft etc), it's a superb choice The laptop looks very sleek and gorgeous in its appearance, it has all the ports you could need.

Don't waste the time or money. Started out fine, but crashed after 30 days. Don't know if geeksqaud screwed up or if it was defective to begin with. Got my money back & bought HP Beats from HH Gregg. No problems with the HP.

I just bought this Asus notebook on Black Friday ($299.99) but according to Khan I should have waited for Cyber Monday, when it was even cheaper ($269.99). Anyhow, a friend of mine works for the Geek Squad at Best Buy and recommended this brand and model, he's highly knowledgeable and since he fixes all of Best Buys' computers, he would know. So far I really like it, it's very fast, and have had no problems. Hope this helps plus I get reward points for this review.

    Love hate relationship

Very bittersweet with this laptop. I've had this laptop for 4 months now and overall it is worth the money. I don't do much else but surf the internet along with school work and such, but still it surprisingly holds up pretty well. I have never felt frustrated with the speed of this laptop. It powers up in about 30s? quick enough for me not to care, doesn't lag for too long after starting. apps run smoothly. Gaming is mediocre but not terrible. But products are all about comparison, so i visited the local best buy and did some fumbling with other laptops and I actually did find the asus to perform slightly better that the other similar price laptops. Maybe the other ones were on display longer, but it still says something. I hate it because it has some very inconvenient design/hardware issues. This has to be the worst trackpad I've ever used. It has a slight lag, making it very annoying if you're work is mostly point click. It is also very insensitive. I have a hard time hovering to small points on the screen. It also is very loud on the click. Sounds like someone flicking the laptop rather than clicking it. I use a usb mouse to counter this but mouses are annoying to carry around too. Also the keyboard is very very loud. It makes it impossible for me the bring into class. Also, every other laptop has buttons on the top solely for sound and brightness, and the secondary use is for the f1,f2,etc buttons. This one is the opposite. so every time i change the brightness or sound, I have to hold the fn button. Minor but very annoying flaw when you aren't perfectly set up with both hands on the laptop. I tested this at the local bestbuy also, so it is not just my laptop. Other cheaper laptops have normal silent trackpads and silent keyboards. So overall I'm happy with my purchase, but these little minor flaws I find with the laptop are absolutely infuriating and i honestly would spend 50$ extra for the same laptop without these flaws

    Great for school

I purchased this on Cyber Monday because needed a laptop under $300 for school. It does everything I need it to (open/edit documents and note taking) as well as occasional light gaming. Battery life is great, but I am comparing it to an old laptop that could barely last 2 hours. Trackpad is a little clunky but otherwise there's no problems.

Good for the price but does NOT support 5GHz WiFi

Pro: Good price. For $299 you get a computer, which has larger capacity than a netbook. It has Intel Core i3 processor, better than Celeron which many laptops at this price range have. It's lighter than I thought and you are able to carry it around every day. 1TB hard drive is awesome. Con: The drawback is it has a Qualcomm Atheros AR9285 adaptor which doesn't support 5 GHz Wifi, only 2.4 GHz Wifi. And it can get a little bit noisy sometimes. Some program like Excel can get stuck when you are processing large data. Maybe an 8G memory would be better than a 4G memory which this computer has. Still debating whether I should keep it or not.

Asus did a fantastic job on the look and feel of the casing for this laptop and the hinge feels solid too. While it is made completely of plastic, both the top outer shell and the keyboard bezel will fool people at first glance into thinking you paid more for a brushed aluminum rig. The lower part of the casing is admittedly a little cheap looking, but no one is going to be lifting your laptop up to examine that part of it anyway. The SonicMaster speakers in this computer sound impressively full and can really push out the volume when cranked. The keystroke on the keyboard is not shallow at all and as a result this computer is great to type on. The Intel Core i3-5020U processor is great and hyper-threading technology allows it to really flex it's muscles through intensive multitasking with few hiccups. The glossy screen has wonderful color and the viewing angles are good as well. There is no backlight for the keyboard and no bluetooth in this model, but who cares at such a low price point? If you want more features for this price you're gonna have to downgrade the processor. Upgrading the ram isn't essential and its honestly quite surprising how capable the 4GB of ram feels in this configuration. Adding extra ram, however, does make the already snappy system feel like its running even leaner though so its up to you. There is one open ram slot that is easy to access through the service port in the bottom of the case. You can add an additional stick up to 8GB for a total of 12GB ram, but make sure you use the low voltage kind. Overall, this laptop is awesome and I honestly have no complaints. Buy with confidence!

    Great laptop

Great price for an i3. I updated the ram to 8gb and swapped hdd to ssd and it runs pretty well. I might upgrade the ram to 12gb although I've read reviews where other buyers had trouble getting their additional 8gb memory to show up. Good size keyboard and it doesn't look or feel cheap like my old plastic shell Toshiba Satellite. I don't mind the display (I could live without 1080p at this price). However, removing the HDD and installing a SSD was a pain because the dis-assembly had me scared of breaking it. Lack of bluetooth was a bummer, but the HDMI, VGA port (I was surprised to see one in this day and age), and 2 USB 3.0 ports were much appreciated.
