I bought it on daily sale for my daughter, good deal. That's pretty good laptop for light task using. This's my 2nd Asus laptop, Nice product. Good: Unbeatable price, 5th Gen CPU, extension memory slot with 1.35 vote DDR3 (very easy to setup). DVD reader included. Not good: Almost can't see the screen with a wide angel (even 70 degree) , Not a touch screen. Strong recommend!

This laptop was bought for a cheap $250 back in Dec. 22 of 2015 and has been a gem given its base hardware and cheap specs. Even though it's been working fine, in order to bring up its speediness it has had the original 1tb 5400 rpm hdd replaced last year with a SATA 1tb ssd and also had added 8gb addional RAM to it for a total of 12gb, and it's now a workhorse! Hope it keeps lasting until Windows drops support of windows 10!

Performance-wise, this ain't bad, pretty speedy, with few hiccups. However design-wise, the blemishes are annoying. First, the faux aluminum keyboard surround is flimsy. I don't know if that affects my typing, but for some reason, I find I have to hit a key twice far too often. Next, my question: Why in God's name would ASUS choose to put the external speaker jack on the side at the front of the laptop--where it is in the way of a mouse/mousepad, when using in tight quarters? That is VERY annoying, particularly if preferred speaker placement would be on the right side of the laptop. BTW, you WILL need an external speaker or headphones for most applications, since the puny speakers can't put out much volume--that may be the case with many laptops, but my retired Dell put out much more sound, so a higher-volume level can be achieved. Overall, for a sub-$500 laptop it's not terrible, but if I had to do it all over again, I might choose another product.

After 2 previous attempts with Lenovo and Acer, which were disasters my experience with the Asus X555LA has been a charm so far. I was up and running in no time. First thing I did was get rid of the preloaded Macafee security and downloaded Avast. I'm going to get the 3 yr. geek squad contract. Always best to have peace of Mind!!

So far its been working great. The updates do take a while, but once that is done, it works like a charm. Its fast enough for your basic needs of HD video streaming, word processing, watching movies, basic gaming, etc. Overall its a great laptop for the price performance ratio.

I love how fast the computer itself is. However, I wish that that battery was a little better.

Asus never seems to disappoint. I bought this just recently bought this laptop for browsing the internet and watching movies. It fully meets my standards. The picture is amazing, the speakers are amazing as well, and I'm also able to use this for light gaming as well. It's really lightweight so I can use it for traveling. If you're looking for a nice laptop, I highly recommend this. The specs for the price are unbeatable and the finish on this is absolutely stunning!

DON'T EVER BUY ELECTRONICS FROM KOHLS!!! Bought this laptop as a replacement for a defective laptop purchased from Kohls. We are happy with purchase especially since Kohls CS was a nightmare to deal with with. Nice laptop for the price of $300

Personally I'm more of a desktop person and purchasing a laptop for the first time was hard decision making. After making a comparison with specs of laptops and bought this on cyber Monday, It is good for beginners use and office works so far. Graphics for videos aren't the best out there since its a built-in, but overall I think this is a beautiful product for its price of $269.00.

This is a good Basic Laptop for students, seniors, or hobbyist who like to surf the web. It's thin, which is great, as it is easy to carry. Wide space for palms to rest on. Keyboard keys are awesome. I wish it were built a little bit sturdier, but other than that, my husband uses it everyday.

Gave this as a gift and I am very happy with this computer. The graphics are crisp and bright, comes with windows 10 and has very good response with no lag. Set up was a breeze ....All in all very impressed. What a great deal....

Just to be clear, the ONLY reason I gave this laptop 2 stars is because I paid less than $290 for it on cyber Monday. If i would have paid any more, it would get a hard 1 star rating. This laptop is very cheaply made. It creaks and feels flimsy, but it is lightweight because of the cheap materials it was made of if you want to look at it positively. Comes loaded with tons of unnecessary apps and programs that you cant get rid of because they are Microsoft's add-ins, also comes with alot of apps you can get rid of, but that's nothing to complain about since you can get rid of them. My personal biggest complaint: this laptop is dinosaur slow. In fact, it has frozen up on me multiple times because I've over ran it. Granted, sometimes I do some heavy online work with multiple tabs running at once, but goodness it can hardly handle 3 or 4 of them. I knew I was getting into a low-end computer based on the price, but I didnt anticipate it being such a low-performer with a 3rd generation processor and such a huge amount of memory. Huge disappointment. I was always told not to go cheap on laptops and computers because price DOES equal quality every time. But I was in a pinch with my former machine's screen dumping out, and I broke the golden rule and tried to defy the odds. It DID NOT work in my favor and chances are it wont work in yours either. Skip on this laptop and get something that is going to work for you and last a long time. Paying a higher price IS worth it. Lesson learned! Best of luck to you with your further laptop searching. ITS A WONDEFUL LAPTOP AND THE SCREEN IS AMZAING QUICK AND EASY TO SET UP

It worked greax. Decent speed for my needs tons of storage.t out of the box. It has tons of storage. My only complaint is there is no visial indicatoe when the cap lock key has been depressed. YOu will not find a better computer for the price.

This laptop has proven to be perfect for what I needed it to do. Lots of storage for pics and videos. Windows 10 east to use

Love this laptop bought one for myself and another for my brother . I attend grad school and he attend under grad university we both needed a laptop to take to class, do homework, projects, have lots of memory and good processor this is good and the fast shipping to my house was great.

Being critical here, the display was too shabby for my liking. Colors are slightly tinted green/blue and washed out. The trackpad was awkward to use and the cursor on the screen was very laggy under normal operations. Computer was loaded with ASUS and third-party bloatware. The on-board RAM is questionable, but the processor adds a nice touch. I will likely be returning this.

Bought this for my college age child. It is perfect. Screen looks great for streaming netflix, speakers and webcam work great for skype. It's fast enough for the minor word processing and spreadsheets she uses it for. Excellent laptop for a student or for typical home use.

Needed to replace lap top. This fit the bill perfectly. Lightweight has enough power for it's intended use. Just checking emails, light web browsing. Nice lap top for the right price. Given as a gift and it's a great.
