About a week later, I downloaded Asus' Backtracker image recovery tool to make a backup of the recovery partition, in case something happened to it while one of the kids was carrying it around while it was tethered to the robot for testing. It failed with a "factory image not found". I contacted Asus support, who recommended that I download a previous version of the tool. It also failed. Asus' recommendation was to return it to the store for a replacement, which I will -- from another manufacturer. I forgot to mention that the latest version of Backtracker, 3.0.7, crashed every time I attempted to run it. 3.0.6 ran, but failed to find the factory image, as did 3.0.4. The laptop itself, is fairly decent though. I'm not a fan of the glossy display or bezel, which glares up easily in bright light or sunlight, but it's hard to find one with a matte finish these days, especially in this price range.

That was one day wasted. I think it is stupid to sell an Intel core processor machine with less than 8gb of RAM. I bought an 8gb chip at Best Buy, but it would not boot. I took it out, attempted to update the BIOS and other hardware drivers and then re-installed the RAM. My computer came up, but it was as if the RAM wasn't on the computer as it still only shows 4gb. I think I am going with a Chromebox and a fancy monitor. I also don't like the small 0 button on the number pad. I hit the right button most of the time
