I needed a laptop to run adobe cc and my games, but i did not want to spend $2,000 on a Alienware. This laptop has far surpassed my expectations, it can run all adobe programs i use, and i have got it to run new games on higher settings (Arma 3, Fallout 4, etc...) and still have no major slowdowns, or any heating problems. One thing that others have mentioned is that it is bigger than normal, that's because the graphics card requires a big cooler to keep it from overheating the whole laptop, so keep this in mind when buying a bag or carrying case for this. Overall this laptop keeps surprising me with its power, especially at its price.

I love this laptop. I've only had it about a week. The red backlight makes typing long papers at midnight more bearable. I truly am only a Diablo III enthusiast and wanted the lagging and over heating that kept getting me killed of my previous laptop issue solved. Even after using it for hours it doesn't feel warm. This accomplished that and more. It surpassed my expectations. Easy to figure out. I love it. Do not regret it one bit. Best Buy was the lower prices for this model when I compared to Newegg and Amazon just for kicks.

This computer is way overpriced and underpowered. It takes forever to boot up with the standard 5400rpm hard drive. It won' t stay connected to the network and the bloatware/crapware package is overwhelming. Web pages take longer to load off the same router than my W7 core i-3 32 bit desktop with only 4GB RAM. It was a nightmare to get it up and running with a PCIe ssd. Though it's much, much faster some of it has to be due to the cleaning out of the bloatware. The PCIe drives aren't really supported in the American Megatrends BIOS and it won't allow you to work between the two drives even though device manager sees both drives, unless you migrate your OS to the SSD then remove the HDD and reboot it then reinstall the HDD. There should be a BIOS reflash out by now but there isn't. There are only two PCIe ssd's that Asus says are compatible and you have to take the whole thing apart to upgrade the primary RAM. The RAM sticks are from different manufacturers (samsung and hitachi) and instead of 2x6 it's 8+4. A little weird. They also downsized the battery from the last one and it only lasts maybe a couple of hours (on high perf). One time the fan began to run at full speed and wouldn't quit until I rebooted. I don't know what caused that to happen because the processor was only at 26 deg C. Asus customer service is very, very, very bad.

Has a nice matted non reflective screen. Computer is pretty fast. After a few months Minecraft started to lag. After 6 months of carrying it around and using it to play Minecraft, programming and other applications, the computer would not boot-up into Window 10. The Asus 1 year warranty permitted BestBuy to fix it. They replaced the motherboard. memory and hard drive but the computer still did not work as we received the BSOD. They sent it in to re-fix the computer, but I received a refund instead. Asus tech support was completely useless and wasted a lot of my time. Prior to refund could not use the for almost 2 weeks.

USB Ports On Front Left Side Dont Work Correctly

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Everything about this unit is decent except two things. 1) The unit I bought for $1449 did not come with an SSD drive, for that price it should have an SSD, don't care what anyone says it should come standard with an SSD, this is a Gaming machine for crying out loud. Come on ASUS, put an SSD in it as a standard practice. 2) This is the biggest complaint I have, the two USB ports on the front left side of the unit do not work correctly with two different drives I have. The first drive is a Seagate 4TB external harddrive it does not recognize the unit and goes crazy when I plug it in. The second drive I have is an LG BluRay External drive and it doesn't recognize that either. The USB ports on the right hand side work correctly but not the left hand side. I did some research and this seems to be widespread issue. How on earth can we pay $1449 for the unit and not have the USB ports work as advertised? I am returning this unit today and going to buy something else.

System seems pretty good for the few days I have been running it. I do have a concern with the light in the back of the system in the fan vents, it stays on 24-7. Computer off, unplugged and still that light is shining. Is this a feature with this computer or is this a defect that I need to have looked at before my 15 days are up?

    WORST MACHINE I'VE EVER OWNED!

I specifically created a login just now to write this review. I am usually not the type to leave comments in a review section, however, I always read comments reviews prior to purchasing and item. I am not an impulse shopper by any means and always do my homework before purchasing. However, with this product there were not many reviews when I first purchased (Nov. 2015) --- THIS COMPUTER WAS SO COMPLETELY HORRIBLE THAT I FELT IT NECESSARY TO WRITE A REVIEW. Luckily I was able to return the computer and get my money back! This is truly the slowest PIECE OF JUNK computer I have ever owned. I have a 3 year old toshiba with an i5 processor and 4GB of RAM that was running circles around the ASUS. So much bloatware that I seriously could not even execute a simple word document task until it had all been removed. I thought surely something is wrong with this machine - there's just no way it could be this slow - so, I took it into a computer shop and had them try and clean it up and remove any necessary processes and applications (helped about 10%) but it was still awful! I am not a gamer - I used this computer for work as an architect - autocad, 3Ds Max, Photoshop, Revit, etc. and I thought for sure that with all of the amazing hardware on the machine it would certainly blow the doors off anything I've used before. Not at all! I think it was about as bad as an old Compaq Presario that I bought from Radio Shack back in 1998 -- yeah seriously that bad. After spending two weeks becoming increasingly frustrated and spending more time waiting on the computer to do simple tasks I finally decided to call it quits and return the thing. Oh wait, I do have something good to say......it looks really awesome.

Bought this and now 45 days later I need to send it in at my expense. I had to call their customer service 4 times to get an RMA. Also day one it took forever to boot. Yes so bad that I called their tech support who thought it was funny that when I clicked on an icon on the desktop it took 10 minutes to load the program. In that time I was able to almost find the cure for cancer and crack the human genome. Junk is all I can say is stay away.

My laptop was an old Dell Latitude D800 (which still works great by the way). I really needed something up to date and my wife wanted me to have a PC that could run Fallout 4, so she got this amazing looking Republic of Gamers G752VL for me as a Christmas gift. My fault, but I am a very busy guy with a lot of responsibilities, so it is early April by the time I get around to trying to set up this system. Day one - I'm installing programs and Windows updates. Every time this system goes to sleep, it will not wake up, tap the spacebar, move the touchpad, press the power button. Nothing works. Every time it goes to sleep, I have to hard restart it. I try reinstalling the chipset from the ASUS support site, updating the BIOS, I spend half the night on the phone with ASUS customer support, one of the technicians tells me that they see this problem a lot. They have me reinstall the chipset, update various drivers, try numerous settings, all to no avail. Finally around two in the morning, one of the techs suggests I try a complete system reset. What the heck, it's a brand new system, I don't have anything to lose, right? 25% of the way through the reset, the reset fails and the system crashes. No Operating System to boot to and I can no longer access the recovery portion of the drive. Back on the phone to ASUS customer support who says that since it is still under their manufacturer 12 month warranty and I bought it at Best Buy, I should take it back to Best Buy. Day Two - At Best Buy, since I've had the system for a few months, it is too late for an even exchange, even though it is freshly out of the box. I am sent to Geek Squad, who will send it in for repairs free of charge under the warranty. Day Three - It is two weeks later and I got the laptop back from the Geek Squad. They installed a new motherboard and HDD. I take it home and check that the sleep function works normally. It does and once again I begin system setup, Windows and driver updates, etc. I notice the keyboard is a little difficult to see, but I remember, this has a lightup keyboard. I press the function key to light up the keyboard. The keyboard remains dark, but Microsoft Edge opens. I press the function key to turn off the keyboard backlight and email opens. Eh, so the function keys are mapped wrong, there's got to be something on the support page to fix this right? There is something called and ATK package which is supposed to fix hotkey related issues. I reinstall that and the chipset. No change, still Edge and email but no keyboard light. Now this is something very minor, all the other function keys work as they are supposed to, but the keyboard is pretty difficult to see without the light and I have never had such an expensive computer system, so I expect it to be fully functional. I scour Google for my problem and try every suggested remedy I can find, but nothing works. Back to ASUS customer support, they have me reinstall the ATK package and chipset again. Still no change. The technician tells me that when Geek Squad replaced the HDD that they installed a vendor version of Windows 10 and not an OEM version and that is why it didn't work. I explain to him that Geek Squad assured me that as they are an authorized ASUS repair center they put the original ASUS factory image back on the system. I specifically asked about this before repairs since it was one of my concerns. He proceeded to repeat that Geek Squad put a vendor version of Windows 10 on the system and that is why the keyboard lights won't work. Every question I asked he just repeated that Geek Squad had put a vendor version of Windows 10 on the system and that is why the keyboard lights won't work. I started getting pretty heated at this point and told him he had already said that, that I had understood what he had said, and he needed to stop repeating himself and tell me something new that would lead to a solution instead of reiterating the problem. He finally suggested that I return with the system to Best Buy. I told him that he had been no help at all, but thanked him for trying and asked that he put me through to the customer satisfaction survey. I never got to the survey. Back at Geek Squad I told them that I had just picked the system up this morning, told them about the keyboard light problem and all the troubleshooting steps I had taken. They said that there was not anything they could do in store that I had not already tried and that to have the issue fixed it would have to be sent back to the service center. So here I am, still without a new laptop, once again with two weeks to wait just to see if it will work properly. Geek Squad has had much more playtime with this system than I have. I haven't even got far enough along to import my user profile onto it. Based on my experience with this system and ASUS customer support, I could not recommend anyone to purchase an ASUS computer.

I bought this PC after reading several reviews. From the first day this PC has had issues with Internet Explorer. After being on line for a while the screen will go blank and just says ok in the upper left hand corner when you hit the home page. Not a huge deal at first, but window 10 has been reloaded 3 times now, and still have same problem. Took it to the Geek squad and was told they ran a diagnostic test on it and found no issues. Been on the phone with windows and Asus to resolve issue and still nothing. Tried getting a corporate number for customer service at Best Buy, and good luck with that. This is probably a good PC, just not good customer service.

    Don't buy this machine

This machine might as well be a $1,200 paper weight. I've had it for 4 hours and I'm already having numerous issues with it. Straight out of the box, I was impressed with the speed and power of this machine. The instructions recommend charging it for 3 hours after un-boxing. Fair enough, I put it on the charger for 3 hours. When I returned after 3 hours, I open the lid and notice that the display will not turn on. The power indicator light is illuminated, but the screen is black (no backlight or anything). After several hard reboots, the screen finally turns on. No more than five minutes into use, the machine shuts off. I was merely checking my email. I was not over-working it by any stretch of the imagination. Once again, the display will not turn on with the power. At this point, I decided to do a factory reset because I've had enough, and I'm returning it to Best Buy tomorrow morning. Sure enough, the machine won't even let me F9 boot it in order to reset the drive. I will never buy or recommend Asus. Waste of $1,200. I hope this review keeps somebody from buying this piece of junk.

This laptop is horrible. For the price I should be expecting something that I would use frequently with no glitch. I can game on it but the fans go insane, even just playing minecraft or runescape/casual game everything gets HOT. The trackpad is not good. It is very slow to start up and has to be turned off a few times for it to work. VERY unhappy.
