    Value and Performance

I have had this rig for about 6 weeks now and it has been great. I mainly bought it for my business but I couldn't help throwing Steam on to see what it can do...and it does great for gaming. I don't think there is another laptop in this price range that I found during my research that delivers the performance it does with the value it is. My only squawks would be finger print magnet (and to combat that I keep a micro-fiber cloth with me at all times), the keyboard is a bit spongy (but doesn't affect my typing), and the lid aesthetics could be a bit more subdued (I like subtle and nothing a couple stickers can't fix). Oh, and it does run warm when gaming, other than that it's fine for lap use.

This is about stability, mot excessive overated specs that others profess. sure theres a liquid cooled asus out there, about the same price as a car. THIS DEVICE is a succesor to my 6 yr old I7.I had 2 ssds in it. this one has 1.its lightening zippy flippy on reboot and startup.graphics speak for itself. deep and enigmatic.it takes a lot to impress me, but this one did. period.no need to go mad crazy with ram either. my only less like is kb backlight color. it be great if it were blue.

    Too Many Issues to Recommend

I own an Asus G75 and was looking to upgrade. After reading and watching reviews, I decided to take a chance on this laptop. I wish I hadn't. I read the multiple reviews about the heat issues. Turns out that those statements were legit. This thing overheats to easily. The cooling on this things is terrible. Don't get me wrong, it's a fast laptop. But what does being fast matter when it doesn't work. When it overheats it lags and stutters big time. And that's only one of my issues. The next problem I have with this laptop is the battery. It does not last more than an hour while gaming. And, it never fully charges. Needless to say I am very disappointed with ASUS. I've always had great experience with their laptops and motherboards. I will be returning the laptop today. With that, I would not recommend buying this laptop.

    Runs Hot and Backlight bleed

This GL702 really has the hardware and ASUS has good intentions. However, the 3rd fan is not well designed so it heats up fast when you play games at max settings. It hovers around 87C GPU playing 2013 Tomb Raider. But the keyboard is still comfortable to use. And upon boot up you will notice right away some light leaks from the edges of the screen. Although it's just minimal (my unit) it's still annoying sometimes. I wonder why this issue has not been resolved for so many years. Maybe precise/quality production cost is expensive? The black is really not uniform in a dark room. You will notice annoying yellowish light leaks when playing or watching dark scenes/background. I know it's IPS and prone to backlight bleeding but why are there IPS displays without light bleeding just like my Samsung TV IPS. So you are saying that it's a lottery then. Really bad for consumers. It's like just live with it because many users are experiencing bleeding issues. But I will still recommend this laptop for the performance. It's so close to being perfect but I think we are still far from that technology (Slim laptop with good thermal management and Screen with perfect black uniformity). How I wish!

ASUS did an amazing job on this PC

I ordered a custom HP omen from hp, it took 6 weeks from china. 4 to build and 2 to ship. When it came the motherboard was bad, hp customer service wanted me to return it wait a week for the refund then reorder another one off their site. I told them no, returned the machine to fedex. Went to the best buys website and ordered this machine for 400 dollars less got it the same day in store and have loved the slim body, the bright screen and the overall design so far. It runs so smooth, best gaming laptop i have owned, it can get hot from time to time but not near as some machines out there. If your looking for the best gaming value laptop on the market get this ASUS ROG machine.

Once I got the lil driver situation worked out, this is the best by far, from 860m I upgraded basically, very satisfied;)Also, this keyboard is simply the best when you get used to it.. When you see the video imaging & speed, I admit, some chills, right.

    Poor vents

For a gaming laptop this thing is pretty top notch on all the specifications. There is one MAJOR flaw with this laptop. There is only one central fan and it can't cool down the GPU and the CPU together so the middle of the laptop will get up to 70C very quickly. I'm using a dual fan laptop pad to try an compensate for the poor vents but it still stays at 65C and causes serious performance issues On any graphics settings on any game that isn't medium or lower. GTX 1060 or not, this thing runs horribly.

I purchased this and within the week I needed to exchange it due to the touchpad working intermittently then had to return the second one for the same touchpad issues and right click not working and heat issues I wasn't willing to try for a 3rd time and ended up paying the difference for the Alienware. Personally I would not recommend this model of Asus (gl702vm) if you care at all about using the touchpad.

    Overheating and keyboard issues

I had read reviews before getting this laptop, and so I knew about the overheating issues mentioned. However, I often have keyboard outages which require several restarts before the keyboard will start working again and the space bar doesn't always work even when the keyboard is working. The space bar issue was from day 1, the keyboard outages began just over a month after purchase.

    Great when it worked

Awesome system, everything said by other reviewers it true, however system went into sleep mode and never came out. Contacted ASUS support who advised to hold the power button to turn off which it did. System never powered on after that. Support advised to RMA product. I will have to return it though it was a boss system while it worked. 3 Stars for the specs and support seemed willing to stand behind their product.

I was looking to upgrade from my old asus rog g75 2012 model, which by the way still works fine. Got a great deal on one of thease, an open box unit in great condition (packaging missing), so I left best buy with the laptop and the power supply in a plastic bag, which was ok considering the fact I paid $800 for a $1500 computer. First impression was great - the laptop looks great, super fast and much slimmer then the older one I had, Then I wanted to test it gaming. 15 minutes into playing Overwatch on Ultra the laptop felt really hot and then I noticed that I get random fps drops. After reading online it turned out that this is common for this model and there are a few ways to make it work, but still decided to return it. If there were no heating issues this would have been the best gaming laptop on the market for the price. Even at $800 I cant jutify buying this product since after all it is considered a gaming machine.

Brought it home, plugged it in, powered up and right out of the box, nasty pixelated black lines running top to bottom thru the display. Back to Best Buy it goes!
