Cheap USB power connector.

It started off so nicely and I was very happy. Then the first USB-C port broke. This is used as the power supply for the laptop. Luckily it has a second USB-C port, but it broke shortly thereafter. In comparison with my MacBook Air, the Mac USB ports have a metal plug while the ASUS ones are plastic. The plastic centers part broke, the pins crossed, and the motherboard got fried. It’s sad to have such a beautiful Chromebook and yet such an obvious weakness - the power connection! I’ll also mention I bought this as a school laptop for my 5th grader. She didn’t ever use the touchscreen or flip functionality. She used it as a laptop.

SD cards can't be viewed

worse lighted keyboard ever!

To improve the backlit keyboard visibility, it is recommended to turn it off or adjust the keyboard brightness level while working in a well illuminated room or area, by tapping the hotkeys, "Alt + dim(small brightness icon)", repeatedly. Also, try to adjust the brightness level on the keys base the illumination of your work area.

Terrible

We had a very difficult time trying to either get it fixed or exchanged. I sent a message to store manager and within 24 hours we were well taken care. My daughter left 2 days later with a new chromebook for her freshman year of college. Product was disappointing but store manager very helpful making her and our transition easier!!

waist of money

There wasn't many options but i thought this was a good since the schools buy them and everything was sold out. I hate it I wish I would have just bought a laptop. Sharing something is such a process to share that its a waist of time. I thought I could use it with my job working from home and certain things you just cant do. Never will I buy a chrome book again.

No more Chromebook for me!

Charging issues

I kept the chrome book for Charging for about 1 hour and unplugged it . The laptop does not power up. But powers up as soon as the charger is attached . I'm truly sorry to hear that the unit is unable to charge. This is absolutely not the kind of experience we want any of our customers to have. Please verify if the AC adapter is properly connected from the Chromebook to a known good, working surge protector or AC outlet. Try to connect it to another known good power source. If this was tried to no avail, please try to disconnect the AC adapter and let the unit drain for 24 hours to clear the memory and reset the hardware to default settings. After doing this, please reconnect your AC adapter, do not power on the Chromebook until the battery was charged. Do understand your concern about thermal issues. It is normal for the fan to spin at full-throttle while the laptop is under heavy load, like accessing web applications or sites simultaneously.
When system resource utilization is high, this will generate more heat than normal and tends to trigger the fan to spin at full-throttle. It does decreases or normalizes once utilization goes down.
Regarding the audio not working, please make sure the correct device was selected inside Setting and volume was not muted.

Bummed it is dead.

We tried hard resets and power cycle nothing is working. I fully expected this to work longer than 6 months. Not sure how he will get his school work done now. Extremely disappointed Dad.
