Don't do it!

Is it because I speak ill towards Best Buy and their inept service and extreme lack of pride in their job and zero empathy?! Or is it because this computer was a complete waste of money and Asus is asking it to be taken down? Asus needs to cowboy and refund me - Best Buy needs to cowboy up and do better - this is a horribly designed and engineered piece of machinery! Issues straight out of the box and Best Buy is passing the buck to Asus and Asus is passing the buck to Best Buy - grow up children and do your job and do it with pride and take responsibility for your actions - no urgency to resolve any issues and lots of shrugged shoulders! Hate that I ever purchased this computer and I'm done with Best Buy!

When his broke, we thought it was a fluke. But then mine did too. So, bad computer is all I have to say. Can't use it for anything now.

DO NOT BUY

I recently had an issue where I was not able to connect to any wifi networks at all. So, I took it into a computer repair shop and they said it was the wifi driver and the only way it could be replaced would be to replace the entire motherboard which would have been hundreds of dollars and not a 100% guaranteed fix. It worked well until I encountered this issue but if you're looking for a laptop that actually lasts, I would not recommend this one.

Needed Repair Right After Warranty Expired

Blue Screen Constantly b/c power supply problem

It is beyond the 30 day return period, so I'm torn now on potentially just throwing it in the trash and going with a non-Asus laptop to replace it. Wastes my time every single day.

All ASUS products undergo intensive quality control testing and inspections, this is a random problem. Normally, ASUS provides one year warranty coverage, if product was purchased brand-new, in order to fix or repair any hardware or, part that stop working prematurely under normal usage.
To resolve the power related error, please try to install cumulative WINDOWS Update in order to update the power management services within the OS. If this was already performed to no avail, please send it in for service.

Get ready for Repairs

The computer blue screens regularly. The speakers have had problems. The keyboard has had problems. This is actually the second computer because the first one was replaced entirely. They have replaced almost every component on this computer. Its hard to use a computer when its always getting repaired.

Noisy, buggy, slow

Something as simple as reading a Wikipedia page would cause it to whir like a jet engine. CONSTANT whirring, buzzing, clicking. For some reason it was incredibly slow as well. Kept it for a few days and brought it back. Absolute brick.

We do understand the inconvenience if you are experiencing difficulty or issue access the internet, if this is what you meant about lock/unlocking the internet.
Using the laptop, there are 2 ways to connect to the internet, either by using the onboard wireless device or LAN or ethernet controller. To connect successfully, the laptop needs to have access to a wireless router or Hotspot. Poor quality and poor internal design

Ended up not being a driver issue, but rather hardware! So I figured I would just replace the module when I found it is hard mounted (soldered) to the motherboard! This is the first laptop I have ever seen with that configuration. For 600.00 you can replace the motherboard of course. I decided against in fear it would happen again.

No longer an ASUS fan!

This was a replacement for the same model I returned bc of so many problems, and this one had numerous problems too!! And I was terribly disappointed with ASUS support, which is basically non-existent!!! I ended up with a Dell laptop and have been quite satisfied.

Dead at 1 year - will cost $1000 to repair?!

Bought this laptop as an open box for $900 exactly a year ago. Now it will not charge at all and PC repair and Geek Squad is saying it is going to cost over $1,000 to replace the motherboard. What a waste of money. I have had other laptops still perform even at 7-10 years old. I will never buy ASUS again. I feel scammed!

If the laptop will no longer power on, charge the battery, boot up or it's just black screen, please do the following.
Verify if the AC adapter is connected properly from the laptop to a known good power outlet or AC source. Try another power source.
Try to press and hold down the power button to shut it down completely, just in case laptop is not in hibernate mode, wait for at least 10 seconds then power on. Please wait, if the system is applying updates in the System Registry, it will black screen temporarily. If it still black screen after a few minutes, at least 10 minutes, please repeat the power cycle process again.
Also, please try to disconnect the power cable and let the unit drain for 24 hours to clear the memory. This will reset the hardware to default settings. After doing this, please reconnect your AC adapter then power on the unit.

Horrible laptop - never buy from ASUS

However, it really sucks that the wifi card died after 15 month of use. Now that is out of warranty I'm screwed. Never going to buy from ASUS...beware of the FD37 model which is probably the same crap different model number.

We certainly understand your concern regarding the issue with the touchpad. It is a smart device, please allow some time to get use to the multi-touch function of the pad.
In order to improve the touchpad responsiveness and stability, please install all recommended WINDOWS Update. If you are accessing web applications, please verify if the laptop has access to an established router and internet service is working properly since this will affect the responsiveness of the touchpad.
Regarding the WIFI device, please try to update the driver if it is running with an outdated version. Also, try to uninstall the device in the Device Manager, do a system restart and let Windows detect the device and install the lastest driver automatically. Ensure Windows is running with the most current update and verify if the wireless router and internet connection are working properly.

I certainly understand your dissatisfaction with the quality of the battery and your concern regarding 4 hours battery life with light use. Please disconnect the AC adapter and let the battery drain for at least 24 hours, longer time will allow to clear the memory completely and reset the hardware to default settings. After completing this process, reconnect the AC adapter and power on. You may repeat this step for a few times. In order to maintain optimum system stability and performance, cumulative Windows Update needs to be installed periodically. Also, have you updated Drivers & Utilities? You may download them from ASUS support website. Normally, ASUS provides one year warranty coverage, if product was purchased brand-new, in order to fix or repair any hardware or, part that stop working prematurely under normal usage. Thought it was a great PC, turned out not to be

Had this PC since 11/14/2018 and the rubber guard on the bottom of the screen has come off already. I guess that is what I get for not getting a Dell. TERRIBLE

I ONLY USED FOR WORK and didnt download anything! I have had MAC for a reason my entire life, until my works Teleconferencing required windows. I am a doctor having to do telehealth and now what... I get to buy a new computer. It will not be an ASUS.

Wifi / Bluetooth Failure

Tried to get it repaired and it is a hardware problem with the card but no one will touch it because it is soldered to the motherboard.

So much for Geek Squad certified

Seemingly it requires an Intel I7 processor so I went that route. Thought I would save a few bucks by getting the Geek squad certified refurbished unit that was offered. Computer came but when plugged in wouldn't charge the battery. So much for Geek certification.

Thank you for writing a comment for the product. I do understand your disappointment if the system will not power on or boot up from the get-go. Usually, you will do the following to resolve the issue. Try to do a power cycle a couple of times. Shut it down completely, wait for at least 10 seconds then power on. If it still won't power on, please repeat the power cycle process again. Please verify if the AC adapter was properly connected from the laptop to a working surge protector or AC outlet and the power button is being pressed all the way down to trigger a power on signal. Also, please try to disconnect the power cable and let the unit drain for 24 hours to clear the memory and reset the hardware to default settings. Five star then ZERO star....

Now It doesn't see the D drive at all and is unusable. NOT HAPPY. Now I have to pay for service for a one year old computer. NOT HAPPY!
