BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Don't buy! These computer right out of the box has the blue screen of death. This is the biggest complaint about this computer. Computer had this blue screen several times a day during regular work use. Had to return to Best Buy for refund.

Posted .Dear JoeV,
Blue screen of death is usually a software related issue. Usually, nstalling all features or cumulative Windows Update will resolve the issue.
However, if problem persisted after installing all updates, doing a PC Reset will do the trick. Either by running restore in Safe Mode or restoring it using a Recovery Media. The tool and the ISO image for WINDOWS is available and can be downloaded at the Microsoft website, if one was not created before the system crash. You can use a memory card or an external USB device to create the recovery image.

Poor keyboard design
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The keyboard is unreadable. It is a very shiny gray metallic color. The white letters on the keys are very very faint, even with backlight turned on. The glare from any room lighting makes the keyboard completely unreadable.

Not worth your time!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this laptop for light word and spreadsheet use for work. But the main reason to load my iTune movies to watch offline. The 2TB hard drive is to slow for this task, this laptop is only good for light tasks.

Posted .Dear Bspizer1,
I do understand your disappointment and the inconvenience this may have caused you if you are experiencing performance issue and not being able to watch iTune movies offline.
Certainly, the laptop, with the pre-installed hardrive, perfectly runs popular computing applications like web-surfing, emailing and word-processing, including movie or video playback, without compromising system stability and performance. In order to maintain optimum system stability and performance, cumulative WINDOWS Update needs to be installed periodically. If you are accessing web applications, please make sure the unit has access to an established router and internet service is working properly since this will definitely affect system speed and performance.
If you have questions, concern or issues with the product and do need further assistance, please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com and I would be happy to help.

Great laptop, slightly let down by poor trackpad
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Hello all, So I returned the little 13 inch version of this laptop and traded it in on this one. Nothing wrong with it just wanted to step up in screen size. I have owned many laptops and a few desktops over the years, everything from ultrabooks to gaming desktops/laptops and this laptop is as good as any machine ive ever purchased. Some reviewers have harped on quality control such as the Harman Kardon speaker logo a bit off place, I did not have that issue with mine. Again build quality is top notch. The chassis feels mostly metal and well built. The touch screen in 4k is great and is bright with great colors. Editing pictures and videos and watching youtube and netflix is a real treat. All the storage is great too and the ssd boots up the system and will unizip files in a jiffy. Ok, so the total package is great and I would definitely recommend this machine over a few of its competitors in its class. So, on to the few minor issues that I have with this. First is the trackpad. It is responsive, when its responsive. I had the exact same issue with the 13 inch from Asus that I just replaced. So its not a stand alone with the pc problem. I did everything with the drivers possible and it would not fix the problem. The cursor just gets stuck. Wait a second and your back in action but it is annoying. Second is no thunderbolt ports so the option to hook up a egpu is out the window. If anyone can help me with a solution that would be sweet. Third and lastly is the onboard gpu, the gtx 1050 2 gb. It works well enough. I just loaded up the Resident Evil 2 1 shot demo and on medium settings, 1080p I was getting about 30 to 40 fps. Quantum break on hight and ultra settings on 1080p about 45 fps. My only gripe, why not stick in the 1050ti? I know this is not a gaming laptop but if your going to stick the 1050 in there why not bump up to the 1050ti? Thermals, space issues? I dont know. Anyways this is a great productivity laptop with great storage and a fantastic screen. I highly recommend. Oops, one last thing. Asus, ive owned more of your hardware than any other company and I will continue to do so because I love you. No more down firing speakers ok!

What an UPGRADE!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I decided to get this laptop because of my work which requires me render and work with 3D objects, computer modeling, and illustration along with multitasking with tons of tabs open and Word documents open. All of this was too much for my old laptop which was getting bogged down. I really appreciate how fast and responsive this laptop is. With my old laptop, I would have to set time side waiting for the laptop to turn on and load. With this laptop, I don't have a lot of wait time anymore which is a great thing to get used to. The resolution of the screen is wonderful. One of the con for this laptop is that you will never get the 9 hours of battery life that they said you would. That is just facts. The longest I have ran on the battery is about 5 hours, almost 6 when I tinkered around with it to get the battery to last. I am not saying that it is bad, but if you are looking for that 9 hours, you are probably not going to get it from this laptop. Another con is that Windows Ink on this laptop do not have a great response system. I can tell the laptop to ignore my palm touching the screen while I am writing, but it still register my palm while I am writing. That is super annoying and would like to see software updates that allow calibration for such issues.

Definitely A Keeper
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I guess I either got extremely lucky or I'm so used to the quirks, logic-defying shortcomings and beauty of Asus laptops, I keep buying them in spite of it. Regardless, my Q536FD hasn't exhibited any of the issues described by other reviewers. The only time it has made any noise, at all, is while gaming at maximum graphics settings in World Of Tanks. Yes, the fan noise is audible but, more than offset by the volume of the excellent, built-in HK speakers. It wasn't that bothersome to me. This exceedingly thin beauty of a laptop does a fine job of heat dissipation and it was somehow reassuring to hear the fans running. When I backed the game's graphics down to 'Medium' (where I usually keep them) the fan noise was somewhat diminished but still there. I'm extremely satisfied with how the Q536FD manages temperature. This isn't really a gaming laptop and any laptop this thin will generate some coil and fan noise that's all there is to it. The UX501 Zenbook Pro that my Q536FD replaced also made some fan noise, too. No big deal. I expect it in this type of laptop. Otherwise, the Q536FD has been utterly silent when YouTubing videos and the 4K content on Netflix. The real appeal of the Q536FD is in its incredible 4K display. It's why I chose it over a UX580, UX533 and UX461: this is one of the most eye-poppingly beautiful displays I've ever seen on a laptop computer. Again, it's one of the main reasons I continue buying Asus laptops in spite of their known quirkiness. Asus continues to deliver some of the best graphics performance I've ever experienced and if it means sacrificing an extra USB port, a keyboard that has .25mm less travel than its competitors and/or a less than perfect track record of customer support, OK, I'm willing to accept that going-in. I've found Asus laptops to be durable companions that stand-up well to weekly business travel and repeatedly being tossed in and out of laptop bags. My UX501 never let me down and I don't expect that the QF536FD will perform any less than it did. It's solid and extremely well-built. Replacing a much-used and trusted laptop computer is never any easy thing. My UX501 still works fine but, somehow I managed to wear-out the 'M' 'C' 'V' 'X' and apostrophe keys on the keyboard and wasn't thrilled about the estimated cost to replace/repair it. I went in to Best Buy not expecting to see something I liked as much as the UX501 but when I saw the Q536FD it was lust at first sight. Set-up was simple and didn't take nearly as long as I expected.

Great All-Around Laptop, but sorry battery
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love the 4k touch screen along with the foldable hinge. It makes watching videos really satisfying and it helps with reading books. The trackpad is great, it's very responsive to all inputs. The 2-in-one capability is great for reading because you can put the screen ans close as you can to your face when trying to read books. The GTX 1050 does allow you to game and with the 2TB hard drive, you have lots of space for your games. It can't run new games at max-settings, but you can run even the newest games at medium at 1080p and get no less than high 30's in FPS for most games. The laptop is overall fast. The only downside and the biggest is battery life. Don't expect more than 4 1/2 hours.

Good laptop with screen issues ASUS won't fix
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a good laptop. While it has an ultra low voltage i7, it is set to its maximum speed and it performs on par with standard laptop i7 chips. The dual channel ram is a plus and it does a decent job rendering 4k footage in Premier as long as it does not exceed an hour and is limited to color grading and basic effects. Past an hour (feature film length) the stuttering becomes annoying, and workflow-breaking, but usable. The 2tb HDD is great for storing my sample libraries for audio work. Speaking of audio, if you use a generic ASIO driver with onboard audio, you'll have an option for 8 channel output and 2 channel output - select the latter or you'll have massive latency. But from a production perspective, the laptop is very capable of handling audio production with many virtual instruments and effects going at once. Build quality and design are generally good and the screen looks amazing. Or it did at first. Two weeks in, there is noticeable bleeding coming from the top middle-right of the screen. The issue has only gotten worse the more I've used it and now there is a spot at the top middle-left. I have tried being extra careful opening the screen and avoiding putting uneven pressure on the laptop when moving it, but the problem keeps getting worse. If it gets any worse, I won't be able to use it for its intended purpose. While I like this laptop, I can't really recommend it - the screen bleed is not acceptable in a $1500 laptop. Period. What's worse is that ASUS doesn't stand behind their warranties and repair them. The combination of the worsening screen issues and lack of warranty support in a $1500 laptop make it hard for me to recommend this or give it high marks - these are basic quality control and service issues not being seen to. Come on ASUS, put some money in your panels. This is a very common issue across many of your product lines and people are clearly not happy with it.

Fast and slick, love it!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had an older Asus that had lasted for years. I abuse my laptops, pick it up by the screen, drop it, etc. and the screen was starting to flicker and go out. Although it was usable, it gave me an excuse to update. The old laptop had a 1 tb hard drive. I do a lot of photography and had filled that up more than once so when I saw this model had a 2 tb hard drive and a 4 K screen, I was drooling. The good: This thing is FAST. Usually I have to wait to edit photos until they are uploaded into the program (Cyberlink PhotoDirector) but with this laptop,I can start my upload and begin editing immediately. Uploads are very fast. I uploaded over 800 photos in just a few minutes. Edits are fast and smooth. The screen is bright and sharp. I've only had it a couple of days but no burn through issues or white spots as I've seen in some of the other reviews. I checked the display model at Best Buy for this before I purchased and that one had no issues either. The track pad is slick with no drag at all. Love it! It is light weight, quiet and does not run hot. Very comfortable sitting directly on my lap. Essentially instant boot up. The cons: When I first started it up, set up was quick and easy. I used the windows program to edit a few photos until I could get my other program installed. It all worked smoothly. However when I turned it off and turned it back on I got the black screen after the login screen. I called ASUS support and they had me back up and running in about 10 minutes on the phone. It was such a non issue, I'm not taking off a star for it. Great customer service available 24/7.

Love it for Photoshop/Lightroom, but...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this computer. I upgraded from a desktop PC to this laptop because I needed something to take on my photography adventures. I have been utilizing Photoshop and Lightroom quite a bit and so far this computer blazes through it all. Very impressed. However, do not expect the battery to last as long as they claim it will. With the 4k and doing all the editing or movie watching, you definitely have a shorter battery time. Good news is that it seems to charge fast.
