Just bought this laptop for school and it is perfect. Seems a little delicate.

Easy to use, a little too sensitive to touch, so do have to be careful.

The computer works okay but it is pretty heavy and not as fast as I had expected. I often have to reboot a number of times in order to get email and though I am a hunt and peck tiper I find that what I am writing is often placed in the middle of a sentence already typed.

I am happy with the computer overall. The issue is the key layout. I am an accountant and use the numerical keys alot. They do not match up with a calculator, like most computers do!!!! Because of this I am continually hitting the enter key instead of the period.

I can see why this item was discontinued in favor of the Q506FA, and I would recommend that anyone looking at this machine instead go buy that laptop instead. This one is not ready for prime time. It ran hot, up to 80°C(!) during normal operation, had major issues with the wireless card, had a full size SD card slot, had a huge bezel and, in general is much larger than it's successor. Additionally the particular model I picked up had a huge battery wear issue. If you manage to find this one still out in the while, pass this one by.

Get the 1tb version and upgrade the hd yourself, totally worth the cost in savings

Open box. Told the only thing that was wrong was the paperwork was missing. The computer was damaged. The computer doesn't close all the way so it never charges all the way.

Unfortunately is not working properly 5 months after the purchase. The touch pad stopped working part of the time and have tried all kind of options to fix it. Under Device management, I cannot even find the touch pad anymore either.... Trying to contact people about it but is kind of hard since I am out of the country right now.

Took back because 1: Could only connect to internet through wifi. 2: It seem to have problems connecting to the internet even sitting only a couple feet from the wifi router. Tech seem to think it had a problem with the wifi card but wasn't sure. Got my money back and purchased a desktop instead. Done with laptops.

Take advantage of a very good Best Buy offer on this laptop and buy it at $ 749. Really impressive in its features! very fast, very efficient! and with a really beautiful design, ideal weight, slim and compact. Really this ASUS laptop has pleasantly surprised me! I love it! When I saw that it had 12 GB of Ram memory, I thought that the i5 processor would be short and should have come with an i7. Nothing further from the reality that this baby is really fast even with multiple windows and open programs, really works like a charm. The backlit keyboard is excellent, especially the color of light, the keys are a pleasure to press them! I could spend hours and hours writing. The fingerprint function works very well and I love using it. I would have liked the battery to last 10 hours as promised, but a full day of heavy use lasts easily for 7 hours, that works for me very well and is enough. In fact, I think the battery life is really a problem in the laptop industry that is still waiting for solutions that satisfy all demanding customers. The resolution of the screen is excellent, there is good balance of brightness and colors! The sound of the speakers is quite acceptable, very, very much above the mediocre average that we can always expect from a laptop! But if you're still not satisfied with the sound, good headphones will solve everything. Conclusion: This Laptop will pay you back every penny you spend on it! has an excellent cost-satisfaction ratio. The 256 GB SSD gives you the touch of speed that you can hardly get with a conventional hard drive. I really believe that the I5, 12RAM and SSD configuration is excellent for this Laptop. If you need a stable laptop, fast, efficient and with a good amount of attributes of an expensive laptop, without being too complex or expect the latest in the market, then seriously consider this little treasure! I think ASUS is in the right direction again ...!

After my $1000 HP bought in 2007 crashed & burned twice in 2 years I bought a very basic Toshiba in Jan 2009- it lasted 9.5 years cause I used a external fan with it&never laid it flat on a table or a rug w/o air circulation- It never failed like the HP- I kept it clean with regular scans- This Asus solid state is very awesome w/fast startups&doesn’t heat up as much- backlit KB works fine in low light&shuts off auto when cursor not moved- You have to turn on in settings&can adjust brightness- Only neg is cursor is super sensitive, but can adjust it too- Since it’s always plugged in I use a battery saver setting that keeps it at 60% charge since battery is not removable- FYI- BE SURE TO DO SOFTWARE OR HARDWARE UPDATES IF NEEDED **AFTER**YOU CHARGE THE LAPTOP OUT OF THE BOX FOR 3 HOURS **BEFORE** SETTING it ALL UP- Out of stock so I bought a open box excellent certified one & looked new & no issues at initial setup & startup- Screen clarity & color is brilliant

I was looking to replace my aging desktop machine with something new. I wanted something portable, reasonably powerful, and something that could double as a tablet as well. I did a couple months of searching until I came across this Asus laptop. I caught this on clearance for $750, which seemed like a great deal based on research I have done. The display is very clear, vibrant, and text is very easy to read with the full HD display. I compared the screen of this laptop to equivalently priced HP, Dell, and Lenovo laptops and the Asus looked best to me. I do photo editing and picture viewing on my laptop, so a nice display was a must for me. I also really like the 12GB of installed RAM this machine comes with. Most laptops in this price range paired with the i5 processors only come with 8GB installed. For photo editing purposes, the extra 4GB really comes in handy. Plus you can optionally install 4 more GB to reach the system max of 16GB. The 256GB SSD is a dream! Amazing boot times! Literally a matter of a few seconds to start up and shutdown. I saw that this same laptop with a 1TB 5400rpm hard drive was available. While the extra onboard storage is nice, that slow of a hard drive paired with this machine seemed like a huge bottleneck to me. The SSD in this model, while offering less storage, really allows this laptop to perform at its optimum. The fingerprint reader, which really wasnt a factor for me, is actually very convenient for logging in. The ability to convert into tablet mode is also very handy as well. The rotating screen makes it convenient to stand the laptop like an upside down V, and believe it or not, this has come in handy when cooking recipes and i need to keep looking back at the screen. Overall, great laptop for general purpose use. I havent really pushed it hard yet, but so far i am very pleased with the purchase.

I love this laptop EXCEPT video takes a while to focus. By a while, I mean about 5 minutes of warm up time. I can watch the same videos or movies on my other laptop and they play in focus, always. This Asus laptop went to white screen a month after purchase. Rebooting did not correct the issue. After some trouble shooting things that took twenty minutes, I got it off of white screen. Failing graphics are unacceptable for a new laptop or any laptop. I would like this fixed for free. It's a month old and should be under warranty.
