my grand son told me that all he wanted was a lap top but this is much better and he loves it.

For the price, this computer has many features (flip screen , touch screen, etc). Furthermore, it has a fast processor, large storage capacity, as well as dedicated graphics card. Only issue is that it is a little heavier and bulkier than I had expected or hoped.

I spent a few months researching a solid laptop that had the specs that I wanted. I read through as many reviews as possible, and I never really felt satisfied with a comprehensive review that was helpful on as many levels as possible. Personally, I was looking for a full HD 1080p screen, touch screen, i7 processor, and at least 500gb of storage. I grabbed this laptop at a sale price of $699 (msrp $999) which I thought was a steal. I previously had a Lenovo i7 that had a hinge problem, and turned out I had to scrap the whole laptop. Before I go any deeper I want to explain what I usually put my laptop through: Taking notes in class, working on assignments (word, powerpoint, excel) web browsing, streaming videos, and having the option for light/moderate gaming on the go. I use it every day with moderate use. So far two weeks this laptop holds up well and checks every box. Computer Speed - i7 works very well in this laptop. Internet loads quickly, programs launch quickly as well. If you are looking to use this for an everyday laptop/do some word processing or browsing, this will be plenty fast enough for you. Boot up time is less than 10-14 seconds I would say Build - Solid build to it. I was concerned about the keyboard, I read a few unhappy reviews about it. Personally, I found no problem. As with any tech, after a day with it it becomes second nature. The backlit keyboard works well when you need it, but I often keep it off to preserve battery and keep the white light from always being visible while looking down. This also comes with a DVD/CD drive! I personally do not use it (and will be converting the DVD/CD drive into another SSD/HDD bay, which is very simple to do: just google it) but I can see how it may be nice to have. This adds a little weight to the computer, but it is comfortable on my lap using it extended periods of time (1-3 hours). Also using it as a tablet is nice, I tend to make it into an upside down tent while watching movies and Netflix. Using it with windows 8 interface works well, while not ideal for total computer use. Also if you use this for a tablet only, it will be the heaviest, but an awesome full HD tablet. Using it for videos and pictures, maybe some apps and light web browsing, this thing shines. Gaming: While most people do not game on the go, or use laptops as main gaming rigs, this actually holds up quite well. There is 2GB of dedicated ram, using the NVIDIA GeForce 840m. This probably knocks out any previous video card in your basic laptop, because you probably don't have one. I downloaded games such as Skyrim and Batman: Arkham City and can run them surprisingly on High/Ultra settings at around 30 frames per second. I mostly game on consoles, so this is about par for games, if not a little outdated. This video card should handle games from 2013 and older perfectly at a high quality and pretty solid frame rate. According to some tests, it could realistically handle GTA V on medium/high settings at around 30 FPS, tweaking some settings. I flip it into tablet mode, connect an Xbox 360 controller, and can easily game and enjoy great quality. Games like Minecraft, The Sims, and games like that can run very fluid. Hope this helps any gamers out there. I am very satisfied with this so far, and optimizing games like Star Wars Battlefront 2 and running on every setting max like butter is quite satisfying, and nostalgic. Overall: Using this laptop for school, work, and fun it can handle everything I've thrown at it. Tablet mode is great for using the Windows 8 apps, movies, games, Netflix. Perfect for using while laying in bed. Not to mention, there are very few, if any, fully convertible 2 in 1 laptops that have DVD drives. HDMI port to allow connecting to monitors or TVs to share as well which is very nice, USB 3.0s are great as well as the SD card port. Boots up fast to take notes in meetings/class and typing up documents. Keyboard complaints should not be around, it is very fluid and easy to type out novels (like this review). And as for gaming it can run more than you think, especially for not being a "gaming machine". Also allows for video editing and multitasking very smoothly. Much better than most other $999 laptops out there. The extra 2GB of dedicated video memory sure does make a difference. I've loved using this laptop daily for the last few weeks, and it has exceeded all of my expectations. It isn't a small, little MacBook air, but the 15.6 screen and weight is very manageable for the beast that this laptop is. If you were like me and on the fence about this, do yourself a favor and pick up this laptop. If anything else, you've got 14 days to return it. Go enjoy your new laptop and don't look back!

Battery life is good, keyboard layout is good, speed is great. Screen could be brighter.
