I bought this yesterday to replace a failing netgear nighthawk x4 R7500 router. Setting it up is easy but asus only allows one dns server address. Then to make matters worse the firmware says that it has changed the IP addresses under advanced LAN settings to the fixed IP's that I've specified but when you go back to the network map and check the client list nothing changed. I need a router that can handle my dvr system and this one is choking at the job. Then when I try to make a change it reboots itself with each setting change instead of just applying a change. This unit is about to go back as soon at the store opens up this morning.

We purchased 2 of these routers. We installed one at home and one at our office. They enhanced our wireless internet connection significantly. We stopped having intermittent connection problems due to the extended range of the wireless signal.

We went to Best Buy to replace our router. We got great help choosing this router. It definitely fits our needs. It can support all our devices without a hitch. Download speeds have increased. No glitches with Netflix now.

I have to say this router is amazing. Had the L brand and the N brand (not to mention names) and all I have to say is WOW. The setup is easy. The smart app for router control is seamless and by far the easiest to navigate.

I got this router to replace my other ASUS 87u. Nothing wrong with that router I just wanted something faster with even better range. This router does that and more. I use the old 87u as a bridge to expand coverage. My home is around 3100sq feet. The ac 3100 will reach everywhere but I wanted the 350mbps wireless I get when I'm close to the router. With this setup I pay for 300mbps down and 20mbps upload, but I get 350-360mbps and 25-27mbps upload. I prefer ASUS over netgear. Just buy this router you won't be disappointed.

Have used Linksys and Netgear for years but never again was looking to replace a EA 8300 Tired of resetting it. Call the Best Buy number to see what they had during quarantine. Spoke to a young lady wish I had her name she look and came back with this unit wow what a difference had over a few weeks but never had to reset and fast thank you .easy set up and does not stall under load with 2 working from home hope it works for you

Operates as advertised.Only downside is the app that is to help install did not work had to call for help. First person contacted could not help at all. Got a hold of another tech and solved the problem.

My old draft-N router wasn't playing nice with my new laptop so I updated. This is stuck about as far up and to one end of my house and I have great coverage 2 stories down and at the other end of the house with the directional antennae.

This router is really fast and quite powerful. I think its probably over powered for most residential situations unless you have 10 or more clients or do need good performance for gaming. I use Merlin's firmware and it has been rock solid. The AC2900 looks great and has a faster processor if you are looking for a slightly less expensive newer item or the blue cave also. Overall the Asus / Merlin UI is great and its a great purchase but I am not sure if a model refresh is coming soon.

We currently have a few more people leaving with us than normal. This definitely slowed down our internet. I bought this router hoping it would help solve that problem and it did. It was easy to set up. They have a step by step direction. Our internet is way faster than before. We have 4 smart tvs and about 12 devices (phones/tablets/computer) that are connect to the same wifi. Of course not all are being used at once. On a giving evening, there are about 6-8 of those items using the internet. They all run fast.

Easy to setup and use. With the 4 antennas, its very easy to get coverage everywhere you need. Tons of features and its super fast.

Strong wireless signal. Much better reach to my range extender in a different building. Easy to configure with the ASUS control panel.

The range and speed on this router combined with a decent modem and my 400mbps Xfinity internet is hands down the best I have ever owned. I have full to 3/4 wifi everywhere in my house/garage and whole yard. My house is 1700 square feet and the router is centrally located. I am consistently clocking speeds over 400mbps. Highly recommend this to future proof your home and provide the speeds and range for a full family (and friends!).

When We upgraded our internet my previous Router was incapable of running the speed due to it's Processor not because to handle Speed I did some Research and Decided on getting this Router which the title implies is correct. The Router is AMAZING in both Performance and features, the App is also full- featured and pretty much allows you to monitor Every Aspect of the Router it's Pretty Amazing and yes the router is Expensive but with the features it's worth it.

Very stable, even with the stock Asus firmware, with excellent range and speed. Very easy to set up; can be set up literally in minutes. A worthy successor to the disastrous RT-AC87U. The speed and range of the RT-AC87U are retained in the AC3100, without the instability, dropped connections and other problems that haunted the AC87U. This is not a so-called "smart" router, but a feature rich, very reliable two band router with QOS, traffic analysis and apps for printing, the cloud, USB connections etc. In my view, one of the best routers developed by any manufacturer since the Netgear R7000 and Asus RT-AC68P.

Easy to set up and connect to. This router has many features like 2 USB ports, one 2.0 and one 3.0, and high speed ethernet connections. Can be set up for printing or networking server. Good strong signal. Two bands wireless. Unit is a bit bigger than others, so make sure you have enough room where you want to install it. If you need to change cables you might might accidentally hit the physical buttons, so handle with care. Overall a great router.

Have always been a linksys fan despite their quirkiness that is until they were spun out from Cisco. Finally got tired of the EA4500, limited range, getting kicked off the network and having to reset almost weekly. This is my first Asus router and all I can say is WOW...blazing fast regardless of which band you hook up to. The wired connection throughput really allows me to get the full bandwidth I pay for thru my ISP. Only gave it 4 stars as the router configuration pages are a bit cryptic, After getting some help from a network savvy family member, it's all set up and WOW. A day and night difference in performance and range...goodbye range extender. Well worth the (steeper than expected) price I paid.

About a month into ownership. Haven't really explored additional features. Device was easy to set-up and the range is incredible even with the placement being less than ideal. Far less than ideal, I have it wedged against the side of a laser printer in the very corner of the house. The house still gets full coverage. The range I've noted reaches outside and down the street a couple houses away. I think you could get away with this alone in even a gigantic house if it's centrally placed.

Easy to setup. Great speed and great range on both the 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz networks.

We were having chronic internet problem. We were constantly resetting our router. Everyone was having trouble connecting. Our internet speed was nowhere near what we were paying for, so we bought a new router - WOW! Problems solved. Great coverage. Our internet speed matches what we are paying for. No connection issues. We were able to set up individual networks for our children to connect to so we could monitor their traffic. Great online tool with lots of bells and whistles.
