It’s impossible to know before buying such a product that how difficult these tech people had made the update process for the firmware it baffles me that these people at asus could not figure out a easier way to update the firmware especially for those of us that have a technical difficulty understanding and when you ask for help they act as those you know how to do it and skip alot of the process its outragous i’ll never buy a router again unless i know how easy it is to get the tech help and how easy it is to do the process of updating the firmware

Set up was fairly easy and once working, the signal was powerful inside and outside of my house. The problem is, the router would go offline several times a day. Getting it working again required a call to Asus. After 2 weeks of this, I returned the unit and exchanged it for another one. The same thing happened with the new unit. I returned the 2nd one and bought a Google mesh system which has worked flawlessly.

I had to return this router with in the first week of purchase. The router would not stay connected to our modem and would have to be manually powered off and back on in order to get the internet back. I called into Asus support and after about an hour or so they had no solution. After reading a few reviews on other sites while trying to get the router working I found this appears to be a common issue... Sad since I really did like the router.

Was unable to use this device without disconnecting Time Warners modem due to the fact that I subscribe to their phone service. I felt it was too many components and went another route.

Bought this for my new office and had to return it after 2 days. Kept dropping the 5ghz connection. Ended up switching it out for the Netgear Nighthawk X6 which has been flawless.

We purchased this router for our WiFi signal problem and so far is doing its job. We have a death area close to our master bedroom and it seems to be working.

I read all the oohs and ahhs about Asus routers, and when an old one died, I bought this. The ethernet part of it worked fine, but the WiFi was virtually useless. VERY slow speeds on both bands, then it would speed up, then drop back down. It was not overheating; there were no indications of an issue. Having no time to mess about with an exchange for the same kind, I returned it and got another brand, which set up and ran perfectly first try.

Yeah, this router worked great for about a month. The 5 ghz band will broadcast but is unable to connect to the internet. Sending to Asus for RMA. They also took forever to get back to me with support. Two stars because it worked, but now it only partially works. Meaning, the 2.4 ghz band is the only band that works perfectly.

This router just seemed to have problems from the day i bought it. The first night it kept losing connections to the playstations and laptop. I would have to reboot it and then it would be ok for a few hours sometimes a few days but then my wife would tell me her laptop wouldn't connect again or the firestick wouldn't connect for the kids Disney+. I tried it for almost 3 months before calling it quits with it.

Router had connection problems with internet and both WIFI 2 and 5 GHz lines within 3 weeks of purchase. Unfortunately, I purchased this unit based on reliability noted on reviews and online assessments. Best Buy return policy only good for 2 weeks and that should give pause for anyone buying from them. Working with ASUS folks now and had to pay for factory warranty return on their defective product.

I was hoping this was going to be my answer as I was using another, older model from the same manufacturer. Unfortunately the 2.4 band was slow and then became inoperable. Confirmed the band was not going offline and not working. 5 Band worked perfectly, but my home has a particular set of needs that require the 2.4. Returned product.

After much research I purchased this router to replace my existing router because my needs were increasing with gaming online and streaming things like Netflix, Hulu Plus, etc... I bought this router expecting to get great range and better speeds and neither happened. I actually got worse range up in my bedroom where my blu ray player is and my download speeds on my ps4 seemed to be no better than before. I returned it and got the Netgear Nighthawk X4S AC 2600 and its a million times better.

it looks nice,great but did not help me with online gaming on 60 mbps connection. i got some lag and it does regular work like my simple router

Still in box didn't need it afterall. =( Our first time getting Wifi in rural area didn't need it.

It was nice to have a one unit system but it didn't have the range I needed in my home.

Works well sometimes loses wifi. Not sure if it's the router or service but bought it to over my whole house and don't seem to get that coverage

Had some bug issues however I believe the update has resolved being kicked off and on the internet so I’m chill with it .

Great if you need a router in same room as computer. Does not work well through walls or large areas.

Havent got it hooked up yet. I have DSL through phone company and is a little more involved setting up than I have had time for so far.

I think it is a great router. I just wish it had a better signal for the price.
