    Had nothing but problems with this router

    This was the second Asus I have purchased. I had a few issues with the first one, but I blamed them one other issues. I purchased this one because it was rated one of the top routers for 2020. I installed in my somewhat complex home LAN. It continued to knock down my Sonos and SmartThings solutions. I felt something would happen at night and that there was a security setting that was interfering with some of my application.. Returned to Best Buy they were great. Purchased a Orbi install in minutes and everything is working great

    This top rated ASUS is the one to buy. After trying the spotty Nighthawk AC-1900 and the older ASUS AC-2400, this newer AC-3100 smokes the competition. When they say the range is over 5600 sq ft, I believe it. I finally have full wifi signal strength throughout my home. Easy setup and and swift 5G speed. Don't hesitate, worth the price. You get what you pay for, outstanding performance!

    Worked great initially. But after a few months, it started dropping internet connection randomly. When it happens I cannot connect to it via the app while on the wifi.

    Not seeing much difference in speed

    Bought this high dollar router on the recomendation of the best buy worker. don't see any better speed in fact my new UHD television buffers now more than when I used my old router ,old hdtv and motorola phone to acess wwe network.

    Worked great for a day, then 5G dropped out and wouldn't turn back on. A couple weeks later the speed dropped to half a mbps. Returned after that.

    I have been trying to get a NSA and a USB drive connected to this router as advertised from the day I got. I've made more than 12 calls and numerous emails and no one can help me. I stopped calling over 1 week ago and no-one has called me. To date I keep hearing the problem has been referred to the engineers but no calls. The box says it can do these functions but neither lever 1, 2 or senior support can get the basics to work. I also bought the AC5300 and the same problems.

    Worked great..... initially. Then started to slow down and despite hard resets never really worked well again. The 2.4 ghz never worked despite this being “ dual band”

    Connection keeps dropping out

    I bought this a year ago and kept having issues in home and it took a while for me to troubleshoot and figure out that this router is the culprit I have another. RT-68U router in the AI mesh and I replaced that as the main router and removed this 3100 from the network and vola no issues, so it tells me that this router was the culprit all along. I am so frustrated with this. I would like to get this replaced, Asus team please support with this

    Very fast, but coverage must worse than old router. Returned and replaced with a mesh router. Way better coverage, and still very fast.

    3rd Router (ASUS WINS)

    I purchased the AC-3100 after the purchasing the following that just did not suit my needs. I purchased the NETGEAR AC-5300 (440 DOLLAR ROUTER) Amped AC-2600 (not available at best buy) GOOGLE ON HUB (ASUS) so after experiencing all the the three from the list above I can honestly say (RELIABILITY) the ASUS AC3100 beat the rest HANDS DOWN. the INTERFACE is the most simple and quickest out of the 3 (Minus the google) but the google onhub was just a little to basic for my needs with lots of features missing. if you are a standard user with no computer or networking experience I STILL RECCOMEND THE ASUS AC3100 (plug it in and its super super easy to set up) I am not going to go through specifications as most of you will do your OWN research, I am basically telling you (THROUGHPUT AND RELIABILITY) this unit is excellent. the RANGE on the 2.4 is brilliant and the speeds on the 5Ghz are impressive. very happy with my purchase and I am so glad I am finished on finding the perfect router. enjoy peeps

    I lost 5G wifi signal after 7 months of use. besides it, this router sometimes stop working with no reason such as disconnection.

    Firmware update bricked it

    Long story short: I read a lot of reviews, it was highly recommended and I loved Asus products. Installed it and ran a firmware update which crashed the router. Called support, the (very knowledgeable) guy talked me through a lot of troubleshooting but we couldn't make it work. Traded it for another and same thing; firmware update destroyed it. Took it back and bought a Netgear. Guy at returns desk said I was not nearly the first to return that router because it locked up.

    Drops 5GHz Signal

    This router is great - when it works. The range and speed was incredible, but unfortunately this router is too unreliable. Every day, the router had to be reset at least once to restore the 5GHz wireless radio. Apparently it's a common issue, as I found out after returning this for a replacement. That's right, the second unit had the same issue. A deeper look into reviews for this router reveals more of the same issue. Too bad. This thing would have been perfect.

    Title. Bought this on 11/9/18 and last night (11/22 - happy Thanksgiving to me) the 5ghz band up and died. Did the normal troubleshooting including resetting the router and modem and it still is not functioning. With Asus, their stuff either works great or fails spectacularly. Their lack of true customer support is well known so I’ll be returning this to Best Buy and getting a Linksys, which I regret not buying to start with.

    $300 Paperweight

    I've owned this router for a little over two years. In this time, the 5Ghz band has failed twice due to a hardware issue. The first time it was replaced by ASUS through the RMA process. The second time, which was ONLY three months after the first replacement, it failed again and ASUS has refused to repair it under warranty. For being a 'premium' home router, there are much better and cheaper options available.
