      Dear Valued Customer,

      I'm so sorry that your experience with the router fell short of expectations. We want you to feel comfortable sharing good or bad news with us. ASUS ensures all products are manufactured with materials that comply with industry's quality standard and each one undergoes intensive quality control testing and inspections, this is a random problem. Please attempt these steps below:

      1. Change wireless mode to 'Legacy' (Wireless -> General -> Band = 2.4GHz)

      2. Change channel bandwidth to '40 MHz' (Wireless -> General -> Band = 2.4GHz)

      3. Change control channel to 1, 6, or 11 (Wireless -> General -> Band = 2.4GHz) (l = lower band, u = upper band)

      4. Wireless -> Professional -> 2.4GHz -> disable Explicit beamforming and Universal Beamforming

    Right out of the box, easy setup and installation. Fantastic user interface, easy to administer and very customizable. My old netgear router was only three years old but there was no firmware upgrades available for over a year, so I decided to dump the thing. I purchased the Asus and within I minute I knew this was the unit for me! The speed difference was the first thing I noticed. My kids were streaming on two devices and I logged in on my machine. Virtually no lag. My kids told me everything is running super fast. Huge difference!!

    Router replaced combo of old router and extender

    I have a 3300 square feet house. As my Verizon FIOS Quantum Gateway router's wireless signal is not strong enough, I had a ASUS N66R wireless router connected to the Verizon Quantum Gateway router at one extreme end of the house. In addition, I had a Netgear AC1200 WiFi range extender located at the center of house. With this combination, I still had spotty or drop wireless connections to equipments such as PS4 at the opposite end of the house. After many complaints from my son about network connectivity issues with his PS4 and other gaming consoles located at the opposite end of the house, I decided to purchase the ASUS 3100 router with the initial plan of using this as the new wireless router connecting to the Verizon router and reconfiguring the older ASUS N66R to replace the Netgear AC1200 as the wifi extender or media bridge. To my pleasant surprise, the single ASUS 3100 router has successfully replaced both the ASUS N66R and Netgear AC1200. Without the need for a WIFI extender, the video game consoles such as the PS4 all now have steady WIFI connection from one end of the house communicating with the ASUS3100 router located at the other end of the house. I have 50 mbps plan with Verizon. The far end located PS4 shows connectivity at 28 mbps. My MAC Mini located in an office about 20 feet closer than the game consoles, shows 56 mbps. Though I only have this router for only two days so far, I am happy with my purchase. Though the purchase was expensive, I am glad I paid the extra cost to have a more capable router so that I no longer have to deal with WIFI connectivity issues at the far end of the house.

    Great reception, fast speeds, easy setup but failure prone. All was good until the 5GHz fails for no reason 2 days after install. Reset. Start over... and the same thing happens again a couple of weeks later; 5GHz takes another big fail, right in the middle of a transaction. Thanks Asus, now I know I should have listened to my friends and purchased the Netgear in the first place. This guy is going back to the store immediately.

    I'm an animator that was suffering from low bandwidth and connection issues using Netgear router and broadband modem. Father had purchased the same setup I had and after awhile we both began experiencing issues that Netgear customer service refused to handle. So I decided to scrap my whole setup and upgrade to this router on the recommendation of the Bestbuy associate. After looking at all the wonderful reviews this product had, I decided to check it out. Once home, setup was fast and simple even though I'm tech minded and my new modem change over went without a hitch. For the next two days I was well pleased with the performance and the range and told my father about it who went out and purchased the same exact setup of router and modem and was also well pleased with it. Day two rolls in and in the middle of watching a movie on iTunes, everything wifi shuts down. I go to where the router is and the broadcast light is off. It stops transmitting. Use my cell to go online and check the troubleshooting page and do everything it says with no success. Call the support line that came in the box and the agent runs me through the exact same steps all over again in troubleshooting with no success either. Then I'm told to return it to the vendor since it's only two days old and he gives me a case number to show that I followed the steps to try and have them resolve it in hopes that maybe I was at fault. Returned the defective unit the same night and grab the same one because I was hoping that it was just one defective unit. Get it home and the same easy breezy setup and firmware upgrade and my house is connected once again. A day and a half later, I woke up to check my iPhone to see who called and noticed that there was no wifi bars. Checked the router and the same exact thing, it wasn't broadcasting. As a side note, the troubleshooting had me connect the router up to one of my laptops via cat5 and see if it would talk. The first router did nothing but power cycle when I did that and the laptop consistently displayed either unknown network or identifying network. I brought out that same laptop and connected it hardwire instead of wifi and the same exact thing happened. Called my father to see if his still worked and he was well pleased with it so far. So I called the support line to go through everything all over again because surely it has to be something in my home or what I'm doing. Agent asks me how many devices I have and I'm well over 25 at any given time from all the audio visual devices throughout my home. He says that the router shouldn't have a problem with that many and asks what I did before it quit. I mentioned that I was doing online class homework for my animation school and it should've been talking to my school server. Again, he said that the router shouldn't have died like that. Since nothing he or I did could get the router to respond, the agent surmised that the lot Bestbuy had in inventory must be defective since I purchased them from the same store back to back. So my guess is that this router has a faulty processor or Bestbuy received a bad lot or the firmware upgrade ASUS is sending out at the start of setting up the router is bad and it's frying the processor. Because nothing responded on these paperweights. Needless to say that I returned it and went up to a Linksys AC5400 for about $100 more and so far so good. Hoping my fathers router keeps him happy as both of mine crapped out.

    Needed to replace an old Apple Airport Extreme. This router is much faster and has better range. Works well as a replacement since Apple discontinued or is discounting the Airport line. This router even supports Time Machine to backup my MacBook Pro! Setup was quick and pretty easy too.

    So this was actually a replacement for a Netgear Nighthawk R8000 which had serious problems with access ponts and extenders being compatible. I had never tried Asus out but I am pleasantly surprised. I plugged it in changed a couple settings and was up and running in just a few minutes. Something that still wasn't achieved after hours of netgear product support. Wifi Speed and Coverage are great, The gigabit lan is as advertised and the Asus web interface is one of the nicest i've seen.

    We had an old Apple time capsule (wireless n) with an airport express base station extending the signal to the front of the house. This router blows the Apple router away. Where we used to get 35mbps, we now get a full 60mbps...without the need of an extender! A few notes: Asus does a good job at updating their firmware. Be sure to update it when you hook up the router. Also, take advantage of link aggregation if you have a Mac Pro or other computer with two Ethernet ports. It is easy to set up and it makes a difference! Overall this is a very nice router and with more wireless devices than ever it is important to invest in a strong network. This router keeps everything going strong!

    Best router for large homes and multiple devices without a hick up. I used CNET.com for reviews as well as Best Buy to make my decision. Right on the Money! Previously owned Netgear R8500 Tri-band, Firmware issues had to jump ship. Save money as well.

    Having poor connectivity issues with this router. Upgraded to the AC 3100 believing it would have the right firmware but no. When it is working, it works great but that is 60% of the time. The router fails to recognize devices that have already connected with and even when connected, it drops the device and repeatedly asks for a password without connecting. Purchased ASUS because of customer and 3rd party (CNET) reviews... I use a iMac and same thing seems to happen with PC users. An AC3100 owner with similar porblems had a workaround by downloading MERLIN firmeware (google it and decide if fight for you). I tried but seems only to be compatible with PC... good luck! Just not ready!
