We struggled with wifi signal and performance at our house. Biggest problem being the router location is in our master bedroom closet along with being in a larger 2-story house. This router was easy to setup and was the perfect fix for us and so far haven't had the need to add an extender. The other cool part is the dual signal that it puts out so that on devices that connect with both 5ghz or 2.4ghz you can choose.

I perched this router to replace a netgear nighthawk X6 3200. It was very easy to set up and start to use. It has better coverage then the nighthawk and doesn't drop the signal. It also is has farter Wi-Fi even though it's a 3100. I get as high as 298Mbps on my apple cell phone in the house. My desk top that is hoked up vis wire gets over 400Mbps. I'm very pleased with this unit. Will never buy Netgear again.

The Asus router is great. It really brings in stuff from the other room in the house on the first floor. My TV and computer are on the second floor. I think I bought a winner

This is an amazing router that can handle anything thrown at it. ASUS has always delivered solid routers and this is a perfect example of their efforts. Couldn't be happier with this purchase.

We were using a factory midco wireless router, and it was ok. But this thing has been Awesome I can actually get signal out in the shop and garage now, not just the 20 feet around the old one.

I bought this router after having some on and off issues with a Netgear router. After doing my homework, I decided to get this router. I have a tech background and have used ASUS as my main brand for Motherboards, so that just helped with my decision. I have to say, I am not disappointed at all. This router meets all my expectations and than some and I have not even tapped into the full power of it yet. The interface is quite easy to use and it has advanced features that are ready to use at your figure tips. The signal strength and speed are very strong. It also supports MIMO-MU through a firmware upgrade. You cannot go wrong with the ASUS brand and this router.

This router is definitely a step above what I had. I have 15 devices, tablets, TVs, phones, printer, laptops, smart watches, etc., connected to it and runs with no issues.

    Better than Mesh

Following a year and a half trying to get along with a Plume WiFi mesh system I finally gave up and went with a single WiFi Router solution again. The mesh network is great in theory but we never could seem to maintain consistent performance even with permanently positioned components (Rokus, Apple TV, PlayStation, etc). Enter the ASUS AC-3100. It saturates a two-story, 3600+ sqft house in strong, fast signal. I centrally located the router inside a closet on the bottom floor. No matter upstairs or down, I can’t get far enough away to see a drop in bandwidth. Using the Ookla Speedtest app on my iPhone, I ran the test over and over at various extremities of our house. Each resulted in max bandwidth of ~ 220-230mbs which is a bit higher than the contracted 200mbs service from Spectrum. I’m very pleased with radio power of this RT-3100. Hopefully, reliability proves as good as initial performance.

I had the AC1900 and loved it. I was actually also getting better range with it as well than this router. The only thing I like about this router is it does have a better software than the AC1900, but I still get reception where needed. If it has to go through multiple walls for some reason the AC1900 worked better, but the range is better on this one, I do get wifi still at my neighbors house which I didn't get before so I am not sure what is going on. The range definitely is better but for where I want it, it doesn't seem to get the 5 bars I want. Also I have an Asus wiw adapter on my pc which I never had problems but after this when I start up my PC or if my PC was asleep I have to replug in my adapter which I did not have to do before. That is the only reason I am giving it 2 less stars. It is also very bulky and has 4 antennas which does make it so you can directionally put it where you want. I do like that part. Overall I would say it is a good router but has some kinks that need to be worked out. The ac1900 was a much better router in my opinion, even though it is a lower level, it seemed to work better.

There are several routers out there that are comparable in features but much more expensive. I have been using this router for some months with zero problems. One feature I wish they would add is an easy way to specify a list of MAC addresses that are the only ones allowed to connect. You can do it but it is extremely painful. Nevertheless, I do recommend this router highly

Speeds were there but range was a little lacking. For the steep price that I paid for this I guess that I was just expecting to get a little bit better of a product.

Great router. Has great range with the 5ghz band. Only worry is that I had to return one for not working, but I believe it was just a defective unit.

Gives a good signal across my house

even though my house is small, it has older stucco and brick walls which have constantly made getting a signal to further rooms of my house more than a chore. even with repeaters the signal was bad on my old Netgear. once the netgear bit the dust i decided to give this a try as it was rated great and reviewed well. worth every penny so far. the ability to customize the network for streaming allows all my kids and us to watch our shows without buffering and stuttering. my only complaint would be the unintuitive UI for customizing your network which i did once and never have touched since.
