This router allows one to game using WTFast for free.. For a lifetime. It also allows you to limit bandwidth of other users on your network to boost your gaming experience. If you're on the ropes of this router or competitors like the night hawk.. Definitely choose the ac 3100.

I have a lot of traffic run though my home network. Easy to setup and hook up. Some of the advanced features are a little cryptic, but a very good performing router. Much better than the Nighthawk it replaced. Love the combined WiFi signals into one SSID.

    Great upgrade from AC-1900

I've used the Netgear Nighthawk R7000 AC-1900 for a couple of years now and was looking to upgrade. I had tried the Netgear Nighthawk R7500 AC-2350 and the Nighthawk X6 along with the ASUS RT-AC2400 but didn't see enough of a performance upgrade to warranty the purchase. This ASUS RT-AC3100 however just might. I've had if for about a week and this router has been rock solid. Setup is just as simple as Netgear. Plug it in and wait for the boot up. From there a quick firmware update and you're rolling. The web interface is, as I feel, slightly more user friendly than Netgear but also doesn't sacrifice on the more nuance customization. It's also very helpful as everything you can do has a simple yet informative explanation as to what it does. As a gamer, it has a DMZ, basically a firewall pass through, that I put my Xbox One on so that my NAT stays open. It also has a much better Adaptive QoS, Quality of Service, than Netgear from what I have experienced so far. So if you're a gamer, this is a very good router. As for performance, I've been running firmware version:3.0.0.4.378_8596 and haven't had a drop in speed or range and have had zero issues with the router itself. On the 2.4GHz band range has increased by at least 60 feet. My old AC-1900 could only reach to the end of the patio while providing about 10mbps. Now I get a stable connection at the top of my driveway which is a good 60 feet long. Not only do I get a connection, it was also strong. I was able to pull 20mbps on my iPhone 6 at the top of my driveway which is about 150 feet away from my router which is in the center of my house mid level. Every where else in my house I'm still able to get 50mbps in the far most corners on the 2.4GHz band. On the 5GHz band I'd say the range increase is good enough, about an additional 30 feet. I now have 5GHz throughout the house and am able to pull 130mbps while close and 90-100 mbps while in the corners. My old AC-1900 could only push about 50 while in the corners on a somewhat weak signal. I live in a 2600 sqaure foot house and have a strong stable connection all around. Even when my whole family is over and we have around 8 phones, 3 tablets, a computer, a Wii and Xbox One running never have I seen a droppage in speed or performance. Also know this is an investment for the future as there aren't clients that can accept the advertised speeds unless it's a PC with an adapter. This router however has increased my network speeds and range.

Purchased to replace Xfinity provided gateway. This router has great performance and range, has allowed entire house (2 story ±4300 sq ft) and detached garage to be connected. Very happy with performance and light years ahead of cable company provided router/gateway.

Have many devices using the wireless and two family members using it at the same time. Great coverage (full bars) both inside and outside. Only negative at this time is the size. It is bigger than our previous router, but not causing any real problems.

I own three Asus AC3100. The range is amazing. They are easy to setup and the app is also handy when setting up cameras and wifi switches. When setting up certain cams I temperately shut the 5ghz off. Love the app.

The Asus router was easy to set up and includes many features that I have not previously had in my routers. My favorite is the usage charts that show what computer might be eating all the bandwidth. Easy to set up port forwarding.

This was easy to set up via WiFi and Ethernet until I plugged in my PS4. The PS4 kept killing my entire network and I would have to go back and reset all the settings almost from the start. I don't know if this is exclusive to this router or all routers have this problem. My fix was to leave the PS4 on WiFi which is not as good as the ethernet. ASUS knows there is an occasional person that will have this issue so why they don't have simple to follow instructions or any support whatsoever shows I will get no support with future problems. Best Buy in store Gear Squad was a joke. The only reason it gets 4 out of 5 is due to the improvement in my speed over a 7 year old device.

I bought this hoping I could get a wifi signal in my workshop that is 1500' from my house. Yes, it works! I am so happy. I can surf the net and listen to internet radio in my shop. Another thing, it was easy to setup the router. I am very happy with my purchase.

Im very happy with my purchase, I no longer have dead spots in my house. One of my previous problems was getting signal into my living room because of the brick wall and some of the bedrooms far from the router. The dual band allows me to allocate 5ghz signal to devices close by and use the 2ghz band for devices farther away. People have mentioned the asus settings can be buggy and recommend third party firmware such as merlin. Im using the asus settings so far and im perfectly happy with it. Some of the device names do not show up perfectly (ie ps4 wont be listed as "ps4" but something else). this is an easy fix bc you can just look at the mac address and ip to verify the device. once you do you can easily rename any device to your liking. It also features bandwidth controls, gaming boost, extra security and nas storage options. Overall Im very satisfied with the router
