Bought this to marry up with an existing Asus Wi-Fi router I had. Using both of them in the AIMesh mode and have great coverage throughout my 2-story home. Highly recommended!

My old router was not up to the task of supporting all the computers, smart devices, streaming and tablets in the household. This router solved the problem with ease.

My internet is much faster and download speed went from 5-7 to 50+. Made a big difference. The one down fall is I have had to reset it already once and we have had it a month.

Bought this router as an upgrade after 5 years with my last one. All I can say is that I now have a strong signal all over my 2 story house and up to 6 houses away. Truly a great upgrade.

I’ve had ASUS router before I got this one. This set up was a breeze using the app on my iPhone. Easy to use and understand. Highly recommend for a home with three bedrooms.

I have the router in my basement office and its powerful enough to cover my entire 2 story house, basement, and outside deck. I have no problems running multiple computers or gamming systems.

The Asus AC3100 is a great router for home or small office use. As with most Asus products, the router has a ton of features and the coverage is really good. Due to the location of the den in my house I have the router in a far corner, which is not the ideal placement, but this router provides solid coverage for the entire house. Performance on both the 2.4 and 5ghz bands is good, and wired performance is also very fast. This router also has a number of security features beyond the typical password - it can automatically block bad sites, and it can also watch your internal hosts for signs that they have been compromised by malware and block them from sending information to command and control servers on the internet. In addition, it has a number of parental control features for limiting content that devices on your network can get to - this is very granular and you can assign different rules to different devices, so you can block the kid's tablets while maintaining your own access. You can also control the time of day the internet is available for a given device. It also has an application traffic analyzer to tell you what applications are going over your network and how much they are using. It can also go full big brother and allow you to monitor site usage and even mirror the traffic that is going through the router to one of the wired ports to then put into a packet "sniffer". Overall, these are features that are generally found on enterprise class devices, available for your home. The options can get a bit overwhelming if you don't understand what they do, but fortunately the router has a security guide that can walk you through turning on the key protections to help keep your home network secure. If you are into gaming, the router can also do some quality of service functions to prioritize gaming traffic on your network, of course when it hits the Internet it's back to a free-for-all, but at least the kid's netflix won't squash your online multiplayer on your home network. This router can also do some AC Wave 2 features, such as Multi-User MIMO, which allows for up to 4 devices to communicate simultaneously on the wireless network. As of the time of this review the MIMO-MU firmware was still in alpha release and I don't have any MU devices to test it, but at least it has some future-proofing capability in the radios as long as ASUS keeps up the firmware releases on it. This router is very big - with the antenna on it it's nearly a foot wide - but that also helps dissipate the heat and provides a wider antenna array for beam forming. One odd thing is that the USB 3.0 port is on the front of the device - handy for accessing for portable drives, but if you are planning to use a large external hard drive you will have to wire it rather oddly to plug it into the front of the device. The back has a USB 2.0 port, but that is much slower. In my case I use a gigabit hard wired NAS. On that note - you can aggregate the first two network ports into a 2 gigabit etherchannel if you have a wired NAS with port aggregation capabilities. The router is also very futuristic looking with a series of hard angles. I do like that you can push a button on the front to turn off the LEDs. Just note that it will take up a chunk of desk real estate and has a rather distinctive look while doing so. Overall, this is one of the best home routers on the market today and I highly recommend it for advanced home users and those with larger spaces that need solid coverage.

Great router, easy to install and user friendly. As plug and play as you can get. Apps work decent when you want to monitor or make changes.
