About a year in and this router is still holding up strong! Very fast WiFi speeds and no major hiccups. Range is excellent! Couldn't be happier.

I had some 5G stability issues with my old AC87U and bought this AC3100 to replace it. It has been working nicely ever since. Stable connection and fast.

This unit is fast! We have it hooked up to the fiber optic modem that is delivering 48mps but this one is amplifying that and delivering between 68-72!!!

Great to set up, Tried many routes, Including tribands, many dropped connection to new 4 K tv, Asus was much better, I have many devices and Kids with friend using multiple phones, computers and streaming devices. The Asus kept up to all the devices the best so far. My kids no longer use so much data on our cellphone plan as they used to be dropped from previous router. Recently a month later I've had to re-enter my passwords to my Sony DVD players as no longer connects to router . I yet need to play with others functions.

I bought this to replace an older ASUS router (which i was very happy with, but died after 5 yrs). i have a fairly large house, and have great coverage, 4-5 bars everywhere. i really like ASUS user interface, very intuitive. This is a pricey router, but i bought it for range and features. the only reason i gave it 4 stars is i have an old wireless HP printer, and i would have to power cycle the printer to make a connection after it went into power mode (did not have to do with my old router).

This router is to replace a router of a different brand that was tri-band, but was having issues with one or more bands at just over a year of use. This dual-band router is impressive thus far. Barely breaks a sweat in our house of 1500 sq ft, roughly 15 devices, and distance to cover. Finding we get coverage all around the outside of the house as well. So far, my family and I are much happier with this router, mostly because it just seems to work.

Overall it is a good router with fast wireless speed, and number of useful features and functions. I am not a gamer, so my judgment is not including router’s gaming performance. I did not experience any buffering delays while watching YouTube & HD movies on internet. Simultaneous use of internet on several wireless devices does not seemingly affect internet connection speed. I like the option of being able to create 6 guest networks, and assign them with individual level of security encryption. The router user interface is simple to navigate and use. The cell phone app is handy to monitor speed of each individual wireless client connection. However, wireless range is not standing up to “large house” promise, and significant degradation of signal strength with distance is being observed. I cannot say that its wireless performance is better in comparison with less expensive Linksys EA7500 which I purchased and returned due to complete absence of very important for me guest network encryption. The router’s USB device connectivity is missing “Remote Virtual USB” capability, so I was not able to connect my older flatbed Canon scanner, and access it wirelessly. The overall functionality for an advanced user is a hit or miss; and which is very typical for mid-range consumer devices. While trying sort out my flatbed scanner connectivity issues, ASUS globally outsourced customer support has appeared as not knowledgeable and helpless.

The AC3100 is a fantastic router and natively supports Merlin which is a huge plus to network administration and QoS. Wireless performance is great, but I've ran into issues down the line with two of these routers where the Wi-Fi bands will just stop working and require a hard reset, and this will most likely be fixed in a firmware update or by manually installing Tomato or DDWRT. If it weren't for that intermittent issue, this router would be a 5/5.

This router looks good and easy to install. But it has bugs. Loading a web page seems to take a while at times and maybe it will work maybe not. If your gaming then just be careful it is the same way it may work it may not it will drop in the middle of the game pretty often. I dont not like this router I will be getting another more than likely netgear again.
