I was never inspired to give a review of this router until I tried to replace mine with an "upgrade" to a really expensive wifi6 mesh system last month... yes, most of my devices cannot use wifi6, but that's not the point. The new system which is very highly regarded and costs 4 times as much as this single access point, running wifi5 channels, is actually slower than this simple 'prosumer' Asus router. This thing, turns out does an incredible job for what it is - fast, good range, tons of config options. If you can place it in a central location in your home and plan to run wifi5 for the next 3 years (because wifi6 devices are still a ways out)... do it, you won't regret this thing.

I have had many Wireless routers by various vendors, from Netgear, LinkSys (before & after Cisco acquisition), Buffalo, TP-Link, ZyXel, Belkin, Ubiquiti, etc. you name it I have used it personally or worked on it professionally. All in all, Asus Wifi have been my favorite for personal use. I am yet to be disappointed with any of their Wifi routers so far. The AC3100 (non-red edition) replaces my aging AC66U. I have had it for couple of months now and it has been wonderful so far. Though I am yet to put it through my normal battery of tests to valid the specs in range and speed. I will update my review either here @Bestbuy or the normal Geek bench mark site.

Got to love the speed and performance you get out of the Asus routers

I purchased this to replace a failing Nighthawk, which had a flawed design for that particular model. So far, this router has been very stable covering a 2700 sq ft 2 story home. I get strong signals just about everywhere. I get fairly strong signal within the perimeter of my property, which is about 1/3 acre. The router easily handles 4 computers, phones, iPads, 5 streaming devices, & a PS4, even while multiple devices are in use at the same time, often gaming & streaming. Almost 1 year and the router is still working flawlessly.

If you're willing to spend the money, this router is great. It has more functions than most need and powerful enough to reach the far corners of my home. I have a 1300 sq ft, 1 level home. The set up requires a little bit of time but fairly easy. This router allows you to set up a guest network as well. My data panel is located in a hall way closet which is where I keep my modem and router. I have 1 gbps speed and I still manage to get 300-400 mbps, which is pretty decent on the 5 ghz band. My office is located closer to the hallway closet which gets slightly better at 300- 500 mbps. The signal is strong enough to go through several walls. No one expects to get the 1 gbps speed unless you are connected directly from modem to your device, than you may come close to 900 mbps.

Love this router. Has great range and strength. We have 12 plus items that require wifi. It's easy to set up and it monitors what you use. Great with our PS4, No lag time. We do a lot of streaming with no buffering.

Router is ahead of its time. Best AC router that will last you for years as wifi technology improves. Easy set up, lots of configuration possibilities if your techy can even be modded.

Easy setup with a vast array of special features and settings available (if you want to take the time to do it). Awesome coverage of my extremely large house. No dropouts, and I'm finally getting all the speed my provider makes available to me.

I switched to this router after having issues at work with multiple people and machines connected to the internet. WOW! Night and day difference. Well worth the money. Unfortunately after about a month the 2.4 ghz band stopped. Asus had me send it back and they shipped me a new unopened router. Love Asus and thier commitment to customer support.

I tried this router for a few weeks and it performed well. However, for half the money I bought the Netgear AC1750 (on sale) and the speed tested this same as this router. A well featured and expensive router if you need it.

Im a little nuetral on this router when it works its great but ive had it for a month now and my 5g likes to disappear on me after a restart its back up other than that ive seen some pretty amazing speeds ive been able to get 268mbps on steam downloads which is mind boggling for me with my old router i was lucky to get 18mbps

Set-up was extremely easy, and am able to get the same speed through the wireless as wired. Best signal strength of any router I've ever had, too--works extremely well all the way in the back yard, through several brick and concrete walls.

The router was quick and easy to setup. I replaced the Frontier FiOS router with this one and saw an increase in speed and range of the wifi. Once setup, you can forget all about it and it works great.

This is a solid router with good performance. Anyone interested in reliability or gaming should look hard at this one. It's got a ton of feature customizations through its user interface. I gotta admit though...im a Netgear gear guy and returned this to get back to the user interface I love from Netgear. I've had a netgear ac1900 and r8000

I had purchased the first Ac3100 a while back when they first came out and subsequently moved into a much bigger house. Was having issues getting wifi in the back section (router is in a network closet in my laundry).... SO I purchased another router to run in AP mode and now I have fast speeds everywhere in my house and backyard.

This is a freat router with excellent speed and a great feature set. Works flawlessly so far running up to 16 devices at once. I tried a newer tri band router from another top manufacturer but I had to return three times. After some additional research determined that the newer tri band is still in it's infancy and can not reliably switch between the two 5g frequencies. Also a lot of speculation on problems with Broadcom chipset for tri band. I tri band is still buggy and needs some additional improvements Will revisit in a year or two This Asus has been consistently ranked as the the top or ne of the top 3 routers by many publications including Cnet and PC magazine. I see why now. Great router with fantastic speed and reliability so far

This works great. Super fast, and easy to set-up. App works great. I am using the MESH option to another ASUS router in a 2600 square foot house. This replaced an older AC3200 that started to fail.
