???
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this so I could track data usage for each device connected but turns out this router like most do not do this. The router just tracks total data usage, I returned the router. Otherwise for the two days I had it I didn't have any issues with it.

Thinking about getting another
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My boyfriend purchased this when he moved into his new home. He never uses the cable company router or modem because he refused to pay the extra fee they charge and he prefers ASUS brand. It has been working great in his tri level home.

Amazing Router
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fantastic science in this computer, yes it has a CPU and 512 MB of it's own memory, 2 USB ports, 4 Antennas, and it's operating system, (Linux) is updated and improved by ASUS and released as Firmware updates which makes this a good long lasting item, as it has support in the future!

Awesome but....
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The product is awesome and works well but I had to have the Geek Squad come and connect the whole system together, another expense. It isn't just "plug and play". The first product I purchased was defective and had to be returned. Now that it is properly installed it works great.

Excellent quality!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works as designed, but the setup instructions did not work as stated. We have AT&T and it was difficult to get the gateway setup even when calling ASUS customer service. Ultimately, we had to pay The Geek Squad to get the router setup and working properly and now we are very satisfied.

Great Router! Best 5Ghz Signal I have ever had.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I will start by saying I am a network expert - over 25 years now. I purchased this router because my 3 year old Cisco/Linksys 3500 started dropping wifi connections and slowing way down.. I didn't even believe it was slowing down on it's own until I pulled some packet captures and saw for myself. Needless to say, any lag in my home network affects my ability to work from home and of course my kid's gaming. Once I realized the problem was with my router and not any one device, I bought the ASUS. I chose ASUS because we build my son's high end gaming PC with an ASUS motherboard and they have good customer support. My basic requirements were strong signal and in turn, more bandwidth. The "no-latency streaming" is a great marketing bit but it really does come down to signal strength and bandwidth. While I only have about 25Mbps on the download with my cable modem - this router does do a terrific job of obscuring that from the user - it's is far more responsive (faster) than my previous router. Also - 5Ghz signal will ALWAYS be shorter range than 2.4Ghz but I get a great signal in the farthest upstairs bedroom (800mbps) - that's with adapters that support 802.11ac - also note that the "high speeds" up to 3500Mbps are kind of a marketing thing - you have to bond two channels together and many adapters don't support. I usually take the advertised BW for the 802.11ac 5Ghz channel, in this case ~1700mbps (see box picture I am uploading) and cut it in half because all my machines live in the "real world" :) I might test channel bonding at some point. I get a strong 300mbps on my 802.11n machines. I have a 3500 sq foot house not including basement. I have not tested yet to see if I can get signal from outside yet... through the brick front. For the user that had issues with 5Ghz signal - please check your adapter. I purchased a 802.11ac usb adapter that didn't even SEE the 5Ghz upstairs.. so you need to be sure of quality on both ends. Also, just a note about the person who had issues with mac-filtering. Not really a good idea on wifi - it's not really secure at all to those who can snoop wifi. WPA/WPA2 with a strong password is your best bet. NOTE: about the WTFast subscription/technology - tried it and we were not happy. Not sure if we configured it wrong or what but when my son complained of lag I turned it off. I am not taking a star off for it because it's not ASUS's tech and it doesn't affect my satisfaction with the router. Have not tested adaptive QoS yet either.. it's working really well and all my devices that support 5Ghz get at least 3 out of 5 bars and great bandwidth. previously those devices couldn't get enough 5Ghz signal to connect. So Yes, very good router, strong signal, great response (so far) and I have gaming PCs, Game consoles, 4K streamers, directv whole home, Roku, home automation, smartphones and tablets. Cheers

Router Down
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had this router since 9/2018. I must this thing is a beast when it comes to wifi strength. Hands down the best router I have ever had until it started kicking off my security camera's. Tried everything with internet provider by resetting and rebooting router with no luck. Contacted ASUS and they are going to fix the hardware on this router. I'm ok with sending it back, as I do have a back up router, but I hate the fact that it went down less than 2 years and now have to send it back to get repaired.

very fast router; I ran into technical difficulty
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This router is very fast; however, it would crash whenever I directly connect into the ethernet ports in the back. I would have to reset the entire router via the desktop software/app. I called Asus and spoke with a technician who then told me that it was most likely due to a defected router. I went back to Best Buy and exchanged the router for another one, and unfortunately I experienced the same problem. Unsure if this was due to the Asus router hardware update that I performed then. There were very little if any similar reported problems online. I'm sure that a new update came out since, and most likely resolved that issue.

Very Good Wireless Router
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am using Asus - AC3100 from 2 years. I had little issue on rite before 2 year warranty. Asus took care of it rite away. Of course I have to spend shipping but I got another unit of same model. I had Asus Lap-Top and it was great too. In short - Asus is always very good product.

met my needs
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this as an upgrade to Nighthawk which had left me wanting. The AC3100 helped me with my limited bandwidth from Hughesnet by allowing me to tether my cell phone directly to the router. This feature alone is a monster plus! But the user interface is graphically so much more user friendly.

Great router
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This rounder is working great. Have never lost wifi. I have a 5000 sq ft house and can get a signal through the entire house. The only place I lose strength is part of an addition through one of my interior walls because it's a brick wall behind drywall.

Hit or miss. Some units good... some bad.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had to buy a few of these to get one or two that worked properly. I would not recommend keeping one with an older hardware version (older than A6) or build year of 2018 or older. Try to get A6 and 2019 or newer. You can verify this by the sticker on the box. Install the latest firmware before doing anything. If you don't do this, you'll probably run into reliability problems with 5 GHz dropping, or the router needing to be rebooted before it can be accessed again. — Based on the guidelines above, I would stay away from refurbished units as they're most likely just 2018 and older units flashed to the latest firmware and WILL have problems.

Kept loosing connection
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Worked great for a while. Then it kept losing connection. It got so bad that I had to reset it multiple times every day. I eventually just got a bigger unit and haven’t had those issues anymore.

Easy to setup
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This router was super easy to setup and get running very quickly. Looks great and has excelent range. My house is a 1700 sq ft ranch home and I have no issue with coverage upstairs while the router sits on a shelf in the basement.

Best Router I've owned
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.i bought this router for my new home and the broad band is awesome. I use the 5k for my TV, game console and PC. The 2.4 I use for all mobile devices. 2.4G has a very large radius, it covers my 12k sq ft lot with full bars.

Great
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. At first we did have trouble trying to get our internet to connect to the router. We seriously thought we got a bad router but called the ASUS help center and got it fixed within 10 mins! We love it and are so glad it wasn’t defective.
