Poor Range and Signal Strength

I live in an old house with solid walls, but a pretty open floor plan (a/3500 sf). I have the modem up high in a central location and the signal strength is very weak just down the hall into another room. The 2G reaches out ok, but the range on the 5G is absolutely horrible. Don't pay this much for average at best performance.
