Wasn’t what I needed.

I tried to download specific work apps and it just downloaded as a mobile app which was very inconvenient. I could’ve just downloaded the apps on my phone if that were the case. All in all you get what you pay for so I returned it and got a Samsung laptop.

After such a minimal amount of use, the screen has completely failed and gone blank, making the entire device unusable. It is unacceptable for a brand-new computer to suffer a critical hardware failure so quickly, especially when it is still well within the warranty period. This lack of reliability is a significant waste of my time and money, and I strongly recommend against buying this model if you need a dependable laptop.

Awesome value for a very capable laptop!

However, for a 64gb emmc, I would not have expected this to perform like this. It is pretty fast, efficient, and very affordable too. DESIGN It is nicely encased in a sturdy metallic finish cover-- much better than the ones being distributed in public school. It has a nice matte feel that's smudge-resistant. PERIPHERALS Typing is pretty good-- nice feedback on the keys, great texture feel on the keys, soft presses on the keys kickback with the right amount of bounce. It has a very responsive pad-- touch on the pad is responsive but you can also click to execute. Either way, they pad is of good quality. Speakers are a little soft but I use Bluetooth headphones anyway. It does have a headphone jack which can be useful too. I like it that Asus did not opt for a proprietary plug for power. The USB c is great and creates flexibility. PERFORMANCE Screen is basic. Brightness is decent on a well lit room. It is not sharp but it is easy to stare into and the viewing angle is wide. The details are suprisingly clear and legible for a 14" screen. For example, I had the Google Keep app on, it split the screen where it shows my most recent notes on the left and the actual note I am working on on the right. There are twelve (YES 12) notes on the left screen and all of them are nice and clear. After hours of use, it doesnt heat up. I was able to run YouTube videos continuously for a good 6.5 hours and it still has over an hour left-- and the battery meter underestimates the actual use so I suspect it will last at least 8 hours on regular unplugged use. Seriously, that is a lot for laptop nowadays. Gaming is a little weak-- at least for effects heavy games (but app-based) like raid shadow legends. It was struggling a bit on just 30fps setting but it was a little smoother when it is plugged in. Also, the app crashed when I tried to game without it plugged. I would say this is a very surprising machine. At the value of this, it's perfect for daily tasks especially Google apps which all cover 90% of people's daily needs such as emails (Gmail), word processing (docs), spreadsheets (sheets), notes (keep), browsing (chrome), social media, and many more. It can even run Gemini AI straight from Chrome. I know for sure this is a better alternative than those ones given to middle schoolers. But even for office use, such as admins and regular clerical tasks, especially those dependent on GSuite, this machine is perfect!

This one id say specifically my favorite part is how ridiculously long the battery life is. I also remember when Chromebooks first came out they werent particularly good at doing a lot of things. That fact became fiction over the course of time and now for my kids I prefer them to be using Chromebooks and Asus is the king of them. This one in particular has a 14” form factor which is the sweet spot of not too small and not too big, keeping things portable while also pleasing to carry around as intended as its just around 3lbs. The screen is punchy and bright with decent FHD resolution which is great on a 14” screen. This comes with a 64GB Emmc memory which is perfectly suitable for a machine like this. With wifi 6 usb A and C ports your covered and even with an industry “small” sized 42wh battery size it crushes in battery life. As said above I like using Chromebooks for my kids because I use the Google family link to monitor and control usage to make sure they stay on task while going to online school and doing homework and setting screen time limits when needed to maintain proper use. In this same thought process I appreciate that it comes with a webcam shutter to ensure the camera sensor is covered when not in use which I like for them. My son likes to bring this along to use on my hotspot in the car as well with bluetooth headphones (this has BT 5.4) to watch YouTube which he really likes. I dont think you can go wrong with the value these style machines provide and with the years of experience Asus has making them I wouldnt hesitate to buy this as a school machine, work or just to chill and watch content as long as you are aware of chrome OS you just cant go wrong.

I’m a middle-aged woman who’s not doing anything fancy tech-wise, and this laptop has been easy, reliable, and stress-free. It started up quickly right out of the box, and setup was super simple — just signed into my Google account and it was ready to go. I love how lightweight it is, and the 14” screen is just the right size for me (not too big or small). The picture is nice and clear, and the battery life lasts most of the day, which is great since I don’t always remember to plug things in. I also like the Misty Grey color — it’s subtle but still feels a little stylish. The keyboard is comfortable to type on, and everything runs smoothly as long as I’m not trying to do anything too heavy like gaming or video editing (which I’m not!). If you’re looking for something simple, affordable, and dependable for everyday use at home, I’d definitely recommend this Chromebook.

I love the fact that it is sub 200 and light and sufficiently bright for my kids to do the school work and occasionally watch youtube videos Pros ---- 1. Light weight, just 3lbs 2. Low price, under 200 3. Excellent battery life, just lasts right under 8 hours 4. charges through USB 5. Cons ----- 1. Keyboard is not backlit 2. no MicroSD card slot Design & usage ------ Overall the design is good, its light weight and sufficiently bright. It has 64gb EMMC and runs at 1.10 Ghz and for a chromebook, its good enough. The 4gb ram is good enough for some schoolwork and some youtube videos for kids. The laptop looks well built and can stand a few falls. The 14” 1920 X 1080p FHD is well lit and bright and the colors are vibrant. The 1x Type C port is also used for charging. There is also 1x Type A port. The provided Mic and headphones is a good add-on for attaching a wired headphones. The keypad and trackpad look decent, it does not have a number pad but the tactile feel is good, The keyboard is not backlit. Overall For the price, i think this is a good value and great for school.

Almost excellent laptop.

I like the size, ergonomics and weight of the unit. I'm not a keyboard zen master so I could care less about the sound and feel of the keys. One minor gripe about this keyboard is that I have to press the power button a few times and pray to see if the unit actually turns on or not. Not a fan of that at all. To be honest, that is the only gripe I have about this laptop. Wait, that's a lie. A backlit keyboard would have been very nice to have but I guess you get what you pay for. I appreciate the privacy cover on the webcam. The performance of the cam is decent and can be used in a pinch. No real need to go out and buy a new camera unless you just have to be seen in 4K😉 For having a Celeron CPU it's pretty snappy. I kinda see why folks get these. Unless you are playing AAA games and need the fastest money can buy this little guy is a breath of fresh air. You can throw it a regular sized backpack and have room for some peripherals and lunch. Neat laptop. Don't know why folks don't give these more of a chance. Further more, if this got stolen or lost I wouldn't freak out. Just log into my Google account and do a remote wipe and call it a day. This is a laptop I would definitely recommend.

I’m going to be upfront I only have one complaint about and it’s the keyboard is not backlit. I can’t imagine it’s costs much to manufacture a backlit keyboard or heck even add a light on the top screen bezel pointing down like the old IBMs use to. The Chromebook came tightly and well packed. Unboxing took seconds and everything was easy and self explanatory. I charged the Chromebook up first as it was completely dead and the manual recommended 3 hours of charge first. Once I clicked the power button I connected to my WiFi network signed into my pre existing Google account, and did a system up after all within 3-5 minutes. Everything is simple and quick which is why I love ChromeOS The body of the Chromebook is will built and sturdy. Nothing feels cheap or out of place. The screen hinges feel good and the keyboard feels like something I could use for hours without complaints (except for it not being lit). The screen is crisp, clean and comfortable to the eyes. Again, no complaints here and I think anyone will be pleasantly surprised. I love how ChromeOS is refined and easy to use. I have been using the OS prior to its release to the public and it has come a long way. Everything on this ASUS in terms of the OS and opening web based browsers was snappy. I love the Google eco system and you have to be in order to use a Chromebook effectively. Important note: While the hard drive and ram are low in size I believe they are adequate with the ChromeOS system. I highly recommend anyone looking to purchase or upgrade their Chromebook to look toward this model. If you need to have a backlit keyboard I would look for a higher ASUS model; however, this is a well built machine and works well with Google’s eco system.
