A Perfect Balance of Speed and Security

I’ve had the ASUS CX14 Chromebook Plus for nearly two months now, and it has completely changed my mobile workflow. As a "Plus" model, the performance is noticeably snappier than standard Chromebooks; it handles dozens of open tabs and video calls without a hint of lag. The real test for me was traveling. I frequently need to remote connect to my main PC back at the office, and this machine handles the connection beautifully. The screen is crisp, and the keyboard makes long sessions comfortable, which is essential when I'm away from my desk. I’ve also been diving into the Linux (Beta) feature. It’s been great for experimenting with professional apps that aren't natively available on ChromeOS. It turns this simple laptop into a much more capable development machine. Finally, the security is a huge weight off my shoulders. Knowing that Google handles the encryption and background updates means I can focus on my work rather than worrying about malware or system maintenance. Whether for professional tasks or personal browsing, this is a top-tier choice.

Seems to work well but havent gone through paces yet. I bought this on black friday but dont really need it until january so cant comment on battery life etc. I did have a few failures during setup but nothing since. Suspecting a software thing that cleared during the initial updates but continuing to monitor. I can say it is very fast. Screen looks good. Keyboard doesnt feel great and trackpad is iffy. But for the sale i got a higher end chromebook for an entry level price. Also i gotta say chrome OS has come a long way. This is my third but the first that is useful for more than a web browser. Googled AI tools legitimately blew me away tinkering with them

Went in needing a new laptop because my other one was acting up and starting to slow down. Saw this one online, and was able to buy it for about $215 as a product that had been returned. Runs great and the battery life is much longer than my other laptop's. I still haven't figured out all the features yet, but so far, it's definitely one of the best purchases I've made.

Battery only lasts for about 4 hours

Don't know if I got a lemon but I purchased this Chromebook for 2 reasons. I wanted one with a long battery life and I like to leave a lot of tabs open so this was supposed to fix any delays I experience from slower computers. Both of those desires were not accomplished by buying this laptop. The battery lasts only about 4 hours and the screen freezes often (the cursor disappears and shows up about 10 seconds later) The volume could be better, loud isn't always loud enough.

Great laptop! Poor Google AI perk marketing

This laptop is great for what its purpose is. Streaming. Browsing. Battery life is good on normal performance but if you don’t mind power saving mode you around 8-10 hrs. It also docks so I can use two external monitors since it has USBc. That is a benefit I wasn’t expecting. The reason for 4 stars is that Best Buy markets this with 12 months free of Google AI Pro. However, this laptop is not listed by Google as having the perk. It wasn’t the main reason for purchase but still an annoyance as it would have been a nice perk.

    Open Box Excellent Chromebook

Chromebook was received shipped and well packaged. Its in great shape and looked brand new, I couldn't tell it was an open box. Ok I am not a gamer so cant advise regarding gaming performance with this Chromebook... The only issue I have is setting up printer, my Brother Inkjet printer is allegedly compatible with Chromeboks but the Asus has a smaller subset of printers apparently that will work, so it appears that in near future we may change our printer out but in the interim we can print from my Samsung Android phone. The speakers arent that great, so you may want to go straight headphone/ear bud scenario. The display is fantastic, I have a lighted keyboard and mouse setup through a universal USB expander, it works fine. The extra memory is good, I have yet to impinge on available memory with different applications open and the integration with Samsung Android phone appears to be seamless. I can also send and receive chat messages whilst working on the Chromebook although I think its a functionality of the newer Chrome OS. I have received many updates which to me is fine as security updates and bug fixes in Chrome world are welcome in this day and age. Overall its a highly recommended product. Bestbuy continues to deliver well with Open Box Items in Excellent condition.

Replaced an older Lenovo Chromebook with this. Build quality/sturdiness seems very good, the non-glare display is very nice, the computer is very responsive. It would have been nice if it had been a touch screen too, but I can live without that as I primarily use a mouse.

Honestly, this is the perfect budget-friendly laptop if you need one. The speed is excellent and everything runs smoothly. The screen is amazingly clear and the sound is perfect, which makes it awesome for watching videos. What really blew me away was the battery life—I watched almost eight hours of YouTube, and while the battery drained a bit, it didn't die super quickly or drop to zero. I still had plenty of battery left to last me. It's also super durable and great for on-the-go use. Highly recommend

My review of the newest keyboard layout is a mixed bag. There are aspects I like and aspects I don't. I like the addition of the "G" key, a third modifier that allows for easier configuration of customized shortcuts. However, I hate the new design of the arrow keys. I need that space between the right shift and left and right arrows to feel the keys on the keyboard. Other than keyboard, the rest is mundane, common chromebook. With full linux container and android app support, manufactures must consider affordable chromebooks with 16GB RAM, sad to see that's not happening yet. Other than the keyboard, the rest of the CX14 is mundane and nothing special, a very common Chromebook. However, with full Linux container and Android app support, manufacturers must consider a more affordable Chromebook with 16GB of RAM. It’s sad to see that this isn’t happening yet.

Solid budget Chromebook for high schoolers

I have teenagers who need Chromebooks for school. In past experience, the Chromebooks usually last about 2 years and then end up getting destroyed in a backback or something, so I am focused on something that is a good price point where I won't be upset to replace it in two years. (No fault of the Chromebook.) I have only had this a few days, but it seems totally fine. The budget Chromebook specs have increased a bit in the past couple of years (8GB vs 4GB RAM), so it seems noticeably faster than the one it was replacing. Thumbs up so far. Bought this for the older kid and will probably end up getting another one for the second kid going into 9th grade. 14" seems like the sweet spot of small enough to fit in a backpack without being uncomfortably small to use. Ratings are based on price - it's not an expensive gaming laptop, but seems totally competent for doing school work in the Google ecosystem using Google Docs, Drive, etc.
