The Asus CX14 Chromebook Plus with Google AI js a 14” laptop with a Full HD 1080p glare-free LED screen with thin bezels built with an Intel Core-i3 1.9 GHz Mobile Processor that provides plenty of performance, with its built-in Intel UHD graphics and great battery life. It came with 128 GB eMMC storage which is more than enough for general web use and apps, and decent space for media files and large documents. The whole concept of Chromebook is to rely more heavily on cloud apps and storage, basically an Internet connected laptop that does most of the work in the cloud, not locally. To that end, the G-suite of apps is built but you can also run Microsoft’s O365 Apps just as well. The 8 GB of memory is double what most basic Chromebooks come with, so it’s good for running many Chrome web tabs, watching YouTube videos, Netflix and much more, though it will get a bit sluggish if you never close unused apps. It came with a 45W USB-C charger which helps fully charge the Lithium battery only in a couple of hours. I have not been able to use it for 10 hours straight, but I can say it lasted at least 8 hours of mixed use, mostly web, youtube and Netflix. This chromebook has good connectivity, with all ports on the left side. 1 USB-C port for charging, 1x USB-C port for high-speed data, 1x USB-A port for legacy device connectivity and 1 standard/classic headphone jack. The HDMI 1.4 port completes connectivity to an external monitor or TV. The built-in Webcam, microphone and speakers complete the package that makes teleconferencing easy. It worked great when I tried it with Zoom and Teams. It helps that it comes with Wi-Fi 6E AX for fast, reliable Internet connectivity. The keyboard has a nice solid feel to it, just enough key travel and good spacing. The touchpad is large, but not too big, it supports all the useful pinch to zoom like features that otherwise you would use with a touch-screen. Unfortunately this laptop does not have a touch-screen. I would be willing to pay a bit to have a touch-screen which we are all so used to from our smartphones and tablets interactions. The overall built-in quality is solid, light weight at 3lbs, yet still MIL-STD 810H rating that reinforces the chassis and will keep it functional and in one piece if dropped, which I was only willing to try a slide off the couch onto the carpeted floor. It’s certainly light enough to take on travel/vacation. It works well with Chromebook apps and Android Apps from the Google Play store, which automatically loaded once I logged on with my gmail account that was previously used on two other Chromebooks. The built-in Google AI with Gemini is a convenient companion that makes things more fun and increases productivity. It would have been nice if Asus at least included a backlit keyboard at this price point and offered a touch-screen option for say $50-100 more.

**Do not buy this device for the Google AI promotion.** My primary reason for this purchase was the advertised Google One AI Premium plan for 12 months at no cost, a huge value proposition, especially since I wanted to build on some recent coursework I completed in learning AI. I spent several DAYS trying to redeem this offer through the prompts on the device only to get errors that after checking the device was not eligible. I used the contact us form in the support article to reach out to Google and 48 hours later I get a reply that it has gone to the Google Play area which is not the right area, but worry not - they're forwarding it over to the Google One team (mind you, there's no option to choose where this gets routed to on the contact us form). After 72 hours, I finally get a response from someone stating "your specific device is not listed as eligible for the offer under the official terms and conditions. These eligibility requirements are determined by the manufacturer and the promotional campaign." Additionally they wrote: "Our best recommendation for you is to contact the retailer or provider who sold you the device. Since this offer was advertised with the product, they should be informed that the device is not eligible under our terms." So in short, it appears the ASUS, Google and Best Buy are not aligned on the terms, conditions and eligibility for this offer. Aside from this bait-and-switch issue, the hardware itself was okay. For the price it's very barebones (e.g. not even a backlit keyboard). I also was not a fan of the trackpad.

ASUS Chromebooks are the best - they last a long time with no or few problems. Best Buy always has great prices and availability. Shipping is quick.

The battery life is less than 5 hours. Very dissatisfied with this, it is advertised as up to 10 hrs. Returned. Tried another one, same thing. Also was no faster than my 5 year old HP Chromebook. I guess this is why it is a 'Black Friday' deal.

As far as the computer goes, it's not bad. Basic needs are met, but I am more concerned with the salesman whose advice I trusted in making this purchase. Being a Chromebook, it doesn't run the programs I am used to running and I wasn't told this when I purchased the computer. I attempted to return the computer only to be told that I was over the time allotted in which to do so. So now I have a computer that cannot do what I need it to do and am stuck with it because of Best Buy's return policy, All in all, bad form on the part of the sales team, You did not meet my expectations and I will not be buying ANY products from Best Buy again.

I really like this little guy. Its as I would describe is a chromebook with a boost. It comes with a Intel I3 processor and 8GB memory and 128GB Storage. Giving it a nice perf bump for a chromebook. And its noticable! Allowing me to perform multible tasks at once for my web presence apps without the need of a full on bult laptop. It works fast and smooth to complete and run several apps at once. I didn't notice much slowdown at all. Which i would with other chromebooks. It will play standard games if you are wanting a break. But this machine is for work IMO or for the high school/College student needing for school. Screen size is nice at 14" and provided a nice bright layout and anti glare. Keyboard is nice and responsive and the unit comes in at 3 pounds. Making the unit portable yet giving a premium experience for daily use. The military grade durability on the casing will take a beating. Overall, nice unit. Definately a bump up from your standard chromebook. Built for everyday use!
