I was shopping for a new Chromebook and I found that the first person at Best Buy way very helpful. But, completing the transaction was a bit of a challenge. They were more pushy about selling their extra add ons than making sure that the customer was happy with their purchase.

I like this chromebook. My only objection is that it is quiet heavy

I thought this would have better performance and response for an i5 8gb ram but this was just ok. Did not like the stiffness of the touchpad either.

TL;dr It is a solidly built machine with a comfortable keyboard and nicely finished touchscreen. The keyboard is not back lit and the touch pad is a little sensitive, without adequate palm rejection. Full review: I was looking for something light and compact to web surf and use with email. I’d looked at tablets, like the iPad, but the keyboard docks added to the price and were not as comfortable to use. I wanted a higher powered Chromebook as I sometimes have to jump into an online spreadsheet for work in the evening. This saves me the trouble of having to get up and switch machines. I didn’t want the processor to slow me down. I also found the build quality of this machine seemed to be more solid than the cheaper Chromebooks I looked at, while still being exceptionally light. The screen and the keyboard are the perfect size at 14”. It’s small enough to fit easily on a hotel desk, but also large enough that I don’t need to get out my reading glasses. The camera has a relatively narrow angle such that I fill the image when sitting at a comfortable distance from the screen. Therefore, conference calls for my volunteer activities can be taken comfortably on the couch. The ASUS machine has a satin finish touch screen which hides fingerprints well. It also avoids reflections in direct sunlight, which made the machine very useful to use in the car, while someone else was driving. After I brought it home, I found there’s more to like about Chrome OS than I expected. I can run Android apps, including MLB and Nord VPN, but still have a full size browser when I need it. I can use the VPN to more easily hide my location from streaming services. Google Docs and Sheets have all the web functionality and are not limited to being apps as they are on the iPad. This lets me take advantage of Google’s AI functionality and in-app templates more easily. They operate at the same speed as on my work machine (a 12th gen i7 with 16MB of RAM). The Chromebook does not get hot, even when it’s been sitting on my lap for a while. It takes ~ 1 hour to charge from a 45W USB charger. It comes with one, but you can use any of the generic ones without any issue. The charge lasts about 6 hours of continuous use. As the machine hybernates when the lid is closed, the battery can last much longer than that, if you’re moving between classes or meetings. If you use Google Docs for note taking, this machine can be ideal.

I really enjoy this ASUS Chromebook plus. It replaced an older Chromebook that I gave to my kids because it was slowing down. They can use that one for games and schoolwork. Having a brand new one with the Core i5 is great. This thing flies (I'm writing my review on it) and multitasks with no issues. The battery life is great. I haven't charged it in a week and it's still going. I'm what I'd call a light uer. Just some searching, shopping, email, etc. The standby time is great, too. From one night to the next it drops at best a few percentage points. Set up was easy, especially if you already have a Chromebook. Everything loaded after signing in with my Google account. My extensions loaded, but I had to sign into them. No biggie. The keyboard and trackpad are great. I do wish that it had a backlit keyboard, but I don't knock it for that. If it's a must have for you, then know that this doesn't have one. The screen is nice and clear and the touchscreen works exactly as you'd expect. I've used some touchscreen laptops that don't seem to register all your touches, but this one has gotten them all. It's a great machine and I'd recommend it to anyone.

Not what I expected. I am not used to Chromebook opp-orating system though so hopefully I will get some training.

Worked for what i needed. Great screen size but heavier than i expected.

I would not buy this again. It hangs up on web pages and it gets hot, assuming it is the battery that's getting hot. I should have returned it, however I have passed the time frame to do that. I have a smaller Asus Chromebook that was fantastic and only paid $99.00 for it about 3 years ago, it just did not have enough memory.

The power of this Chromebook is phenomenal and once the Google ai is incorporated in the next Chromebook update or sooner, will be able to to more fully utilize the immense power of this latest intel cpu. The thinness and svelte weight of the overall unit make it a pleasure to lug around. I do wish it had a more textured exterior but the beautiful Pearl white is stunning. The camera is really great for zoom/video meeting and overall for general picture taking. The speakers are above average and make sound reproduction very very good. The screen is more than sufficiently adequate in most lighting situations. The screen it self is easy to read given the integrated gpu. The full sized hdmi port is also a nice plus to have to output to larger screens. The thunderbolt ports are great for additional connectivity and charging options. The wifi 6E is also easy to use if you have a supported router and the speed and ease of connectivity is so far flawless. My only complaint is the touchpad which is not very accurate especially the click featur, maybe too much plastic on the surface is cause the jerky movement. Otherwise I would give this 4.5 stars even with the lack of a backlit keyboard…the specs online says yes and others say no but it is not present.
