Looked at user and pro reviews for new router. RT-AX86U seemed to come up often as a top choice. Not a gamer, but 8 yo D-Link router had some problems with the 35 IOT devices attempting to connect and a recent speed increase from Xfinity to 960 Mbps. New router has increased speed and stability at the far corners of the house and I get a consistent 940-960 hardwired download, and in the same room 15-20 ft away wireless speeds are 450-500 AC and 750 on my one AX device. Nice to have a device perform as expected. Setup and monitoring are also staight forward with no surprises.

Great WiFi coverage throughout the house and consistent single digit ping tests with no spikes or jitter. Coming from an AC1900P, using ASUSWRT was easy to navigate. Asus throughout the years have gone above and beyond delivering firmware upgrades by adding new features and patching any potential vulnerabilities. Cake_QoS is available through Merlin firmware for those curious. Recently upgraded to 1GB Fios and wanted a router to handled my network traffic without any hiccups. Handles 3 consoles, 2 PCs and 4K Apple TV without any issues whatsoever.

Replaced an Asus RT AC66R in hope that we would get a stronger, more consistent signal and longer range. We were comfortable with Asus so didn't want to change manufacturers and hoped the combination of Mu-Mimu, quad core processor, and more RAM would also fix issues we were having with buffering and drop-outs while streaming. Figured if the new router alone didn't do the trick, we could use the old router as an air mesh node to achieve the same. The Asus RT AX86U did the trick on its own. We now get good consistent signal to all corners of a 2,000 sf 2-story house plus full use of our 100 Mbps internet bandwidth on both wifi bands and over ethernet plus the added comfort of having extra security provided by regular security updates and TrendMicro. Setup took about an hour because I followed advice given on SNB forums to ensure roughly 10 connected devices would transfer over to their new networks without a hitch. They did and the new router has performed continuously without disruption since. Plus, the Asus app is an added convenience for setup, firmware updates, and traffic monitoring. Haven't even bothered to load Merlin yet. BB offered the router at MSRP and delivered on schedule. We are more than pleased with BB and Asus, just wish we hadn't waited 6-months for the darn thing to go on sale - it never did and availability was spotty so we paid MSRP and are happy BB had one available.

Best wifi 6 router out there IMO. Covers majority of the house, doesn’t reach certain areas with 5g, but got another asus router as an access point.

Always went with other brands and this one is the first I’ve had. It’s super fast and easy set up instructions is so easy my son could do it.

Best router i have owned yet. I really appreciate how the ai mesh software will automatically configure itself self with asus compatible nodes. I like the idea or a mesh system but provides more standard traditional router options like multiple LAN ports. Super easy to set up. Seamlessly flawless internet on my entire home network (30) wireless devices. I really like what the ASUS team is doing. Far superior than its competitors!

After 6 months of owning it. Extremely happy with this router. I ran the stock firmware for the first few months, never had a single issue, Wifi range is noticeably better than what my old Linksys 3200acm was. I since changed to Merlin firmware and stability has been just as good, I went to Merlin because of some more complex things I wanted to do with it. It has not needed rebooted, every device we have has worked flawless on it. I am glad I spent a little more money on this versus the one I was looking at.

I like the aggressive look of this router and it's definitely much faster than my old Wifi 5 Netgear R7000. I owned my last router for a little over 3 years and recently started to notice it dropping internet connection with my smart devices in my home. I later discovered that I could benefit from a gaming router and saw that this was a great recommendation for the price. So far, it seems to perform well with my gaming console, streaming devices, and the rest of my smart devices in my home with no drop in connection.

So far so good. Setup was easy enough that my son who had never done one before was able to do it on his own without help. No complaints about performance so far.

Got this to replace an Asus AC68u router. This new AX86u router is fantastic! Up and running in minutes and the wifi 6 speed is great!

I have used different routers so far but this router is far best. It is absolutely very fast. Also, it has a lot of great features. The one I most liked is the lifetime free parental control. If you really care about the content filtering for your family and especially for your kids, this router will absolutely do an awesome job. I strongly recommend it.

I bought this to replace an older Asus router, RT-AC86U. This one has a much larger wifi range and have been very reliable so far.

Very good speed and features. Mobile app is helpful. Setup is relatively easy but advance features are not so easy for average user and there are no clear instructions them.

Just got a new Surface Pro 8 and needed to take advantage of WiFi 6. This router makes it FLY!

Love this router. It was easy to setup and was able to see and adjust all settings from the app. It is very fast and works very well.

Best wireless router ive ever owned. Hooked it up and connected with the app. Works flawlessly. Range and speed is amazing.

Truly a fitting upgrade from our previous router (an Asus that this model replaced). Crazy fast, good range, easy installation.
