Excellent, fast/powerful, dual-band, WiFi 6 Router for a moderate size home. Good amount of flexibility, including per-device access scheduling and filters, if parental controls needed.

While wifi 6e is just arriving, for now wifi 6 provides a lot to anyone who needs a router now. Asus has a good reputation for their products and this is one of the best-reviewed wifi 6 routers. Their management (either by app or web access) is great and the ability to combine these stand-alone products into a mesh network is an added bonus. If you can wait 6 months, there will undoubtedly be a wifi 6e version -- but if you need something now, this is a great choice.

Great coverage. Had one issue with it dropping out. Configured AiProtection to all yes and it cured the problem

Great wifi 6 router. Upgraded from an old Netgear 6700 and this blows it out of the water in speed and coverage.

This is the first ASUS router purchase for me and overall I’m happy with it. I’ve owned Netgear routers more over tens year and always been happy also. This replaced the Netgear R7000 which is a awesome router and trouble free for the past 4-1/2 yrs. I just wanted to upgrade my router to a wifi 6 system. I like to keep a backup router just in case the main unit goes bad and I find myself scrambling to find a replacement in a days notice. I know our family cannot survive a day without Internet so the Netgear will be in storage just in case. The main reason I choose ASUS is because they don’t have any fees for basic internet protection and also have a 2yr warranty. The internet speed is the same as the Netgear but the wifi signals struggles a bit. I have three Ring cameras and I added a extender due to the signal strength lacking on the ASUS. Luckily I got the extender free with a Ring camera. Other than that, the options and phone apps work great. While watching Netflix, the TV started buffering so I went to the app and changed this device to streaming and everything ran smoothly after that. Now the TV will be on streaming mode from now on. Not all settings can be done on the phone. Some of them need to be controlled on the PC such as channels. I like to use 1, 6 or 11 because they don’t overlap signals as much and usually give the best speeds. Wifi gaming works awesome on 5g too. Overall I’ll give the RTAX86U a 4.5. It wasn’t fair to give it a 4 just due to the wifi signal. There is an option to purchase another ASUS router to extend the signal. Just go out and buy it! Pros: phone app options, small footprint, internet speed Cons: Wifi strength

Greater Router, can get a signal 2.4 signal everywhere in the house and the basement for the 86U. For the 5GHz, great speeds. Only Negative (knocked one start for this), AiMesh could be improved, doesn't automatically switch to the strongest signal. I have a an RT86u and RT68u in AiMesh with wired backhaul. When I have 2 bars from 86, I can be literally next to the 68U node, and it stays with the 86u vs 68u. I think it would be great if ASUS can allow the user to set/customize a dB threshold of when to switch to another node etc. Overall great router and would buy againn

Simple to set up. So far it's been very reliable. A good upgrade over Asus Blue Cave.

Lots of nice features. Love being able to monitor remotely with device connection data and data.

Works great. Set it up with an existing ASUS router to creat a wireless mesh network. Eliminated the dead zone issue.
