Easy to set up and much better coverage than my old N-series router. There's room to grow as internet service speeds increase, too. It's not the least expensive model out there but the feature set is well worth a few extra bucks.

After my $300 Netgear router went bad in less than 2 years, I shopped around and this ASUS was very highly regarded. I can confirm. Very easy set up. VERY fast speeds. Very happy with this so far

Had a Google WiFi mesh network (3 access points)that had real trouble covering my house. This device (by itself) covers my whole house and the speed is fantastic. Not the cheapest option, but the best I have ever used.

I have nothing but amazing things to say about this router. ASUS is top notch and one of the major reasons I purchased this model was its own capability and its ability to add mesh nodes.

Speed, stability and coverage! ASUS has incredible firmware and long term support. Highly recommend! It fully covers with WiFi my 2300 sqft house! You don't need to reboot this thing for months!

My only complaint is that the range doesn’t extend that far. It was simple to set up. I have experienced no drops in signal and strength as long as im within range. Has the ability to bridge easily between other routers, especially asus brand

Replaced a recently purchased TP-Link which could not cover a small 1600 soft house. This one easily does and blankets the house with fast speeds in every corner.

Works pretty flawlessly. Changed the SSID and Password to my existing and all my wireless devices came right back. Only minor glitch was that it defaults to combining 2.4 and 5ghz into one network. This works ok for relatively fixed devices, but if you have a device that moves around a lot (i.e. cell phone), you may run into issues. I split them into two separate networks and never had a problem again. LOVE the extra 2.5GB port for my primary desktop computer, plus it gives me a total of five ethernet ports on the router, enabling me to eliminate a switch.

I got this router because I wanted to take advantage of Wifi 6, Plus I wanted to use the AiMesh system since I have the RT-AC68R that I been using for many years, So I'm using that as a node for this new router and the setup was seamless. This router comes with a 2.5Gb Wan port, This is for connecting devices such as a cable modem that has the 2.5Gb port for 2Gb internet speeds. It has 4 gigabit ports which supports link aggregation up to 2Gb. I highly recommend this router for those that want Wifi 6, and being able to use other Asus routers together with AiMesh.

Since my last three routers have been from ASUS, I'm very pleased with this upgrade. It has increased my in home WiFi speeds, has forward compatibility (which will allow up to 2.5 GB speeds if / when I pay for speedier internet service), four gigabit Ethernet connections, allows Mesh setup and has excellent software. I purchased it also for its security features. Even though WiFi 6 has been out for a little while, sadly the VPN service I just signed up for does not yet have a 'pre-loaded' firmware for this router (even though rated #2, they have only WiFi 5 pre-loaded firmware.) Hopefully that will change in the near future. Overall I feel this router should last me a good five years (or more!)

First Asus router and so far it's been excellent: easy to set up and better coverage than the R7800 it replaced. The user interface is also cleaner, easier to navigate, and appears to include more features and options. Shortly after setting up the router, I installed the Merlin firmware. It's is an easy install and the user interface looks / works exactly like stock, with the small Merlin logo at the top being the only visual difference. So far, the router has been trouble free and runs great. I was a little hesitant to try a router from other than a brand that specializes in network gear, but was swayed by the reviews I read. Glad I did.

Easy to setup and fast. If you’re thinking getting AX86S get this AX86U instead because it was better cpu and ram. I wish it supports Wifi 6e.

It is not easy to explain all the facets of this router so I'll simply say that it certainly met expectations and if I go with a mesh strategy later with ASUS, I can add this device. The devices I use can handle AC connections and some AX. AX could not be achieved with the previous set up. The 86u did a better AC than the last router as it had a better connection and yes, it did perform better. The connection rated between top of "good" and excellent." That was a huge difference. The newly obtained AX connections performed better than the AC connections but not as fast as I wished. However, it was certainly faster and I am quite happy with the speed and connection improvement. This item has no desktop software. To access the router, you go to a web page address. The layout of the administration setup is very thorough and allows for various adjustments or include a feature such as a network router VPN. Its not outstanding compared to other WiFi 6 routers but very well done. At the time of purchase, it was an excellent price as compared to other sellers. Best Buy definitely came through as the item was not in stock but was made available at my local Best Buy a few days after the purchase for pickup. The process was easy and the results ..well, I did give 5 stars. Great experience, great router.

So far so good. No random resets. Easily handles 30+ devices and the traffic analyzer function is great for determining which clients are eating up the most data. Was nice to find that some of my laptops already could take advantage of the Wifi6 functionality and the dual LAN ports really speed up access to my NAS over the hardwired portion of my network. Configuration is simple via the GUI. Same sort of thing as my previous R7000 router but many more options. Quiet as a mouse.
