Great Tablet For My Son (13) And Me...

This thing is fast and looks beautiful. You can run multiple apps easily and it has a great battery life. The price is very good for a tablet like this...the size and processor. It cleans easily and fits into just about any universal case. You can add extra storage through a micro SD card, which I recommend. I use it with my son for helping him with school work and the Google voice works wonders. Great overall tablet in terms of price, specs, size, quality and durability. Great for games and Internet....watching movies or television shows is a pleasure.

This is a fantastic Android Tablet for the money. It's powerful enough to be useful and the 7" screen provides excellent graphics and contrast. This Asus Tablet is small enough to carry around, big enough to use effectively in most circumstances and the battery life is surprisingly good. Light weight, easy to use and equipped with pretty good speakers, this is an ideal low-cost tablet for regular use and perfect for travel. If you're looking for a great camera, this isn't the tablet for you, but it's adequate. I'm listening to music as I write this review and am awed by the quality of the speaker system given the price. I also found it to be an excellent way to research and test apps before placing them on my far more expensive Android phone. Definitely a great Product for the Price!

This tablet is an unbeatable value. Nice screen, good battery life, SD card slot, fast processor, 2GB of ram and built well. Asus seems to provide periodic updates to their O/S, though really waiting for a 64bit version of lollipop to be released so the chip can be used to the fullest.

It's actually a great tablet overall. The screen is great, both in picture quality and responsiveness. It is fast. You can multi-task easily. There is a slot for extra storage and the battery is great. A great tool for school work and play.

Great tablet for the cost. High resolution display is very bright and has great colors. Speakers are very good. Overall tablet finish is excellent. Intel Atom Z3560 Quad-Core 64 bit CPU runs this device nicely. Battery life is great. My only complaint is, when are we going to get Android 5 Lollipop? This Asus ME572C has to be the best deal around for well under 2 C-Notes! The only other device that tempted me was the Galaxy S Tab 8.4. Would have liked the slightly bigger screen with more resolution, but not at more than twice the price. Very happy with my choice of the Asus ME572C.

Nice tablet. I wanted something smaller for watching Netflix on the elliptical. Good performance, nice screen and decent battery life. There is a fair bit of Asus bloatware that you can't remove (without root).

It is a good simple tablet. I'm an iOS guy and this is my third Android device. The standard load is good. The battery life is exceptional. The multitasking is good unless you are downloading 30 or more files at the same time. Then it gets sluggish and needs a reboot.

It just plain works great. Very clear video streaming (but also have excellent router which may be factor). Bought w/ intent of eBook reader, which it does excellent. Audio is only average, but okay since not primary task. Battery life good. Wish internal memory greater, but it does take microSD so can forgive. Wish I'd bought second to store until this one expires. Dislike excessive preinstalled software.

A Very Good Bang For The Buck 7" Tablet

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I just bought this Asus Memo ME572C tablet less than a week ago. This is the fourth tablet I am on. The very first tablet I purchased was the 7” Acer Iconia A100 tablet and it eventually broke. The other 2 tablets were a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7 inch (sold it because it was slow) and a 10” Lenovo Ideatab S6000 (still have) Here are the Pros and Cons of the Asus Memo tablet I have found after using it for a few days and how it compares to my other tablets. Pros *$150 sale price at Best Buy is a very good bang for the buck 7” tablet. *Very good specs for a 7" tablet that offers Quad core Atom Z3560 clocked at 1.83ghz cpu with 2GB DDR3 ram and 16GB of internal storage. *Bright IPS display with good contrast and viewing angles. Very little if any brightness loss when the tablet is tilted. My Acer Iconia A100 tablet had a TN (twisted nematic) display which suffered from poor viewing angles. *Display has 1920 x 1200 resolution. Most 7" tablets have either 1024 x 600 or 1280 x 800 resolution with only 1GB of Ram *Youtube app allows selecting 1080P video quality due to the Asus Memo 1920 x 1200 resolution. *Very good color accuracy on the display. Whites look white and no yellowish/blueish tint. *Each speaker is placed separately on each side to give a stereophonic sound. My old Acer Iconia A100 and Tab 2 tablet has both speakers located on one side. Lenovo 10” tablet has stereo speakers but, they’re located on the back. *Thin and light compared to my old Acer Iconia A100 which is .52" thick and 470grams in weight. The Asus Memo is only .3" thick and 269grams in weight. My Lenovo Ideatab is heavy weighing in at 560grams. *Very good battery life. Compared to my old 7" Tab 2, it has just as good (if not better) battery life and definitely a lot better battery life than the older Acer Aspire A100 that only lasted for 4-5 hours. *Micro sd slot with support for Micro SDXC cards. I popped in my Sandisk 64GB Micro SDXC card and it recognized it. Cons *An issue with the Wifi connection that happened once (so far). It disconnected and turning on/off Wifi on the tablet didn't fix the problem. A reboot of the tablet resolved the issue *Slight backlight bleeding on one edge near the front facing camera. Nothing bad but, you'll notice it on a completely black screen. Some models might be a little more noticeable than others. *Hole in the headphone jack was not made so well. The headphone jack doesn't insert that easily and smoothly. You'll need to be careful and not force it. *Speakers are located on the sides than in the front. Your hands will have a tendency to block the speaker if you hold the edges in landscape. *The length of the tablet (7.9 inches) is longer than your average 7" tablet. It will be a tighter fit in some 7" tablet pouches. Its rectangular corners makes it harder to zip in a 7” pouch. *No led flash and no HDMI port. My old Acer tablet has an led flash and HDMI port. *No cover on the Micro SD slot to keep the dust/dirt out. After using this Asus Memo ME572C tablet for several days, I am overall happy with it. What I like most about it is the 1920 x 1200 IPS display. It makes watching full HD videos and browsing websites more enjoyable. Despite the cons I listed down, it’s nothing major where it detracts from it being a very good tablet. It’s not perfect in every area but, there isn’t much 7” tablets that has comparable specs/features to this Asus Memo 7” tablet

I bought this tablet at local store at Union Square. I have hard time to find it because it's sold out at many NYC stores (Atlantic, Bay Parkway, 23rd Street, 5th Ave), and finally found one available at Union Square. It has Intel 64 bit CPU with 2GB RAM. Quadrant got 18,xxx and Antutu got 39,xxx Speed when browsing internet, watching video, playing games, and opening documents is pretty decent. Battery is good compared with Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 with similar usage. The screen is clear, but the white is a bit greenish. It comes with some Asus bloat which some of them have no use with me. It can take 64GB microSD, and write to memory card problem can be fixed through rooting (search root zenfone). The side bezels aren't that wide and it's pretty easy to grip and hold. The speakers are rather loud when Audio Wizard enabled which is enough for watching videos and playing music. The only reason why I gave one fewer star is software compatibility problem. It cannot play Angry Birds Epic (but other Rovio games are OK). If you're looking for decent spec 7" tablet for the price, consider this model. There's a reason why this model is sold out in many stores

Asus MeMo Pad 7 Me572c Review

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

For this review I will report only my experiences with using the Me572c Tablet Setup The setup of the tablet was very simple. There were 5 easy steps, choose language, choose time zone and format, connect to network, sign into or create account, and you are done. System Update As soon as I finished setup and was on the home screen the Asus Update Reminder came up. I was able to update the Tablet with a single click. The Tablet rebooted and installed the update and then rebooted again. One note the Tablet shipped with a 11.8.3.14 version and Asus Update updated the Tablet to 11.8.3.26 version, after that the system reminder kept popping up saying that a newer update was available but would not install. I had to manually down load and install 11.8.3.30 version to get rid of the popup. Installing Apps I was able to connect to Google Play Store and install most of the apps that I had installed on my old tablet (Asus MeMo Pad HD 7 me173x-A1), there were a few apps that were not compatible with this device but the major apps i use i was able to install. Installing Apps was very fast, allot faster that on my old Asus Memo Pad HD 7. One feature I notice that I did not notice on the New Me572c Tablet, in the Play Store I could now select multiple items to be installed at once. could be a feature of the new tablet as I did not see it on the old Tablet. Most likely it is a feature of the Play Store and the New Tablet supports the feature and the Old Tablet does not. Asus Transfer There is an app that allows you to Transfer data from your old tablet to your new tablet. It uses Bluetooth to connect between tablets. I had several issue with this method. 1. Pairing or Connecting was intermittent 2. Drop outs on larger transfers 3. Certain file types cannot the transferred or accessed (unless you root tablet) Using the Tablet After completing the setup and install of apps and Transferring data (used computer to transfer and not the Asus Transfer app) I was pleasantly surprised of the performance of the tablet . Typing was smooth, screen change we smooth and very swift. There were pauses when changing orientation, but it is a livable trade off for the swiftness of everything else. Application open smooth and promptly, now I maybe bias here because of going from the Asus Memo Pad HD 7 Me173x, with its often slow or often unresponsiveness, with the Asus Memo Pad 7 Me572c, did not have any of the issue I was plagued with the Asus Memo Pad HD 7 Me173x. Playing games on the Me572c vs the Me173x was absolutely no contest. The Me173x just could not play any games with very good frame rates to call the game play able. The Me572c played most games fairly well with descent frame rates. Most game were playable with one or two shutters here and there, nothing to make the game unplayable or distracting to the experience of playing the game. Screen and Audio and Video The screen is beautiful. good color, very clear and sharp. Fonts and Icons are clear. Easy to read. Video play back is a pleasure, but I would recommend getting a Video Player that allows you to set screen aspect ratio. Remember this display is 1920x1200 so non HD video will often not fill the screen and make viewing the video uncomfortable. SD video on this tablet looks washed out and often blocky. I am not sure if it is the video encoding or the tablet. I am leaning toward video encoding, the clarity of the Tablet allow you to see the imperfection in the video. HD video did not display these artifacts. Audio was clear, not tiny like some speakers. Volume is not as load as the me173x tablet but it is okay. Most reviews say that the speaker placement is bad on the Me572c, but I like the speaker placement. When held in landscape mode the sound from the speakers output is funneled by my hand directly at me. I think this gives better volume and slightly better imaging. Another plus is that if you have it in a case the speakers are not block by the case. Battery The battery life is good, I have had the tablet for a week now and have been using it constantly testing everything I could. I was able to use the tablet on the first charge for about a day and a half without charging. But beware charging on this device is very slow and charging does not really work while using the device. If you are at 47% on battery and plug in the charger and continue to use the tablet it will not charge and often if you are playing video or any high demand application it will deplete the battery, yes deplete the battery even if you r plugged into the charger. Charging without use and screen off is approximately 3 hours 35 minutes from 10% to full charge. One additional warning do not and I cannot stress this enough do not let the Tablet fall below 10%, as the system becomes very unresponsive and often will not power back on and I mean will not power back on. I was lucky after leaving it on the charger for 2 days, I was able to get the tablet above 10% and then it charged normally. Over all Review I liked the Asus Memo Pad HD 7 (me173x), the only drawback was the often unresponsiveness , but I love the Asus Memo Pad 7 (Me572c), it is really the Nexus 7 with a MicroSD Slot added to be honest. It is a far cry from the Asus Memo Pad HD 7 (me173x). Pros Good Battery life Good Overall real world Performance Good Overall Display Fair Audio output Good Compatibility with apps Fast reliable WIFI connectivity Cons Long Charge times Often Long Press to wake from Deep Sleep Screen Corruption when switching from portrait to landscape screen mode

I love the tablet, great form factor, feather light, quality build, speedy processor, good battery life, great display, IF you get one without defects. Took me 3 exchanges to finally get one that didn't have dead/stuck pixels and EVERY one I have had has light bleed along the edges of the screen. I'm learning to live with the light bleed because I feel it's a common issue and probably not easy to get a perfect one. ASUS needs to get better quality control, I know this is a budget tablet but it doesn't mean you should skimp on quality. With that said, it's a great tablet. It's basically what the Nexus 7 would've been if they kept making it. Before this I've owned Tab Pro 8.4, Nexus 7 2013, Tab S 8.4, Lenovo S8-50 and Tab 4 10.1, the Asus Me572 is a worthy contender. And I love the new software update I got today with the dual apps. I definitely recommend the ME572. Let's hope for lollipop!

    First impression of K007

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

"K007" is the actual model no. of this Taiwanese made product, although Asus sells it as the "ME572C". I just picked one up for Xmas at Best Buy. It could have just as easily been offered by Sharper Image stores because it's a real stunner; certainly more elegant looking than all other so-called "budget" tablets. The specs on this beauty are stellar as well starting with its full 64 bit, quad-core CPU, Intel's Atom Z3560 that clocks at a whooping 1.83GHz running in 2GB of internal LPDDR3 RAM. That's a full gigabyte more than most other tablets in this price range. No doubt, this is why it has a true Hi-Def display with a resolution of 1920 x 1200. That is 2.3 million pixels on a 7" diagonal LCD. This results in absolutely pristine color graphics, the sharpest possible text and videos as good as any 1080p HDTV. Except with only a 7" diagonal display, you would have to look through a powerful magnifying glass to see them. Of course, like most others, it comes with 16GB of additional memory for storage of which about 10GB is free to download music, videos and numerous apps from the Google stores. It also has a plug-in port for a microSD card to increase the storage capacity significantly. Best Buy sells a 32GB microSD for only $30 should the extra storage space ever be needed. The most often heard criticism of this tablet is its rather wide opposing blackouts around the screen, especially the at the top and bottom when viewed vertically. However, the entire front surface area is covered in one continuous piece of glass from outer edge to edge, so these areas are not really noticeable and certainly blend in to the LCD such that when this tablet is turned off, it looks a lot bigger than a 7" tablet. Which brings me to say, the K007 is as light as a feather; just 9.6 ounces. The back plate, although plastic, is stylishly textured, but if there is any shortcoming to this tablet, Asus does not include a protective case. That will be the very first post-Xmas accessory on my shopping list, and it would probably be a good idea to pick up an extended protection plan from Best Buy, but that does not cover "breakage" from dropping any mobile device. The Li-ion battery is nearly 4000 mAh, which is more than enough for lengthy periods of purely mobile operation. I haven't had a chance yet to explore the software. The Android 4.4.2 Kit Kat operating system is fairly current. It comes with several dozen apps; more than I'll ever use, but many will come in handy as well as dozens more I will eventually download from the Google store. All in all I am very favorably impressed with the over quality and expected performance of this tablet. For only $179, it promised to be an extremely good value!
