    Excellent router for N protocol

This router is really solid for someone looking for basic N level communications. We have a small 2 level house where the longest distance to wireless devices from the router is perhaps 40 feet or so, and all devices seem to make the handshake effectively. Occasionally have 6 or 7 devices on simultaneously, including some permanently installed fixed devices such as a smart thermostat. Only a few meltdowns when everyone has been logged in at the same time. Seems to be a slight improvement over our previous Arris cable modem/router unit (we use the Asus with a Motorola Surfboard SB6141). Solid speedtest scores throughout the house, even upstairs. No complaints so far (other than the abysmal installation leaflet), but we'll see after we've had it for 6+ months.

Opened the box, plugged it in, hooked it up, ran setup wizard, entered wireless SSID / Name: and Access Passwords:. No problems, crashes, or reboots in two weeks. Advanced setup was straight forward as well, Guest setup was equally as easy with no problems.

This router has been THE router for the past couple of years. It's stable and has excellent range with its 3 external antenna. The stock firmware interface is nice looking but it also openly supports custom firmwares. So far so good and the only issues so far have seemed to be problems with devices and not the actual router.

We were having connectivity issues at home on our wireless network. We went to Best Buy and a salesman directed us to this model. I'm not a techie so I initially had problems with setting it up. I decided to call ASUS support and in ten minutes we were up and operational. No more connectivity issues at our house!

None of my devices are 802.11ac, so I had to keep with an 802.11g router. Previously, in order to get complete coverage in my home, I had a wireless 802.11g router, a wired wif-fi 802.11g access point, and a 802.11n wireless repeater. now I have better reception with a single router. The set up was a breeze and the QoS and other settings are understandable to a layman. I highly recommend this router.

so far I have had at least five routers...we live in the country away from wi-fi and use satellite with HughesGen 4. this one so far seems to be the easiest to restart, reset, set up and even mount. it's light and I am not sure the antennae actually does anything but I have had no trouble with signal so far.

After a terrible one-day experience with a comparable LinkSys router, I ponied up an extra $40 for this Asus router. Set-up was relatively easy, and its performance has been stellar for nearly a month now. Whereas my old routers were dropping connections and performing inconsistently, the Asus has been excelling in all areas. It certainly gets a workout as my wife and I have the following devices connected: two smartphones, a tablet, a Chromebook, a Windows 7 laptop, a WiFi Blu-Ray player, and a Chromecast. Often, there are at least three devices connected and running simultaneously, and my wife is a heavy media streamer. Range is also exceptional (doesn't fully lose connection until device is nearly 500 feet away).

First of all, this router is great once you get it all set up. Coming from a D-Link, this router performs much better. The Wi-Fi strength is very good, and the dual band is very nice. That being said, it's a little tricky to set up at first. The port forward feature is a little complicated. I called Asus and got someone that barely spoke English. When I asked to be placed with someone who I can understand better, she basically refused. I hung up and got online and was placed in a chat help. When I told the person I could not get port forwarding to work, he told me that he could not help me with that feature and then I should hard reset the device. I told him that if he could not help me with a feature of his product then he is no use to me. I had to scour Google to find out how to do it properly. Not at all satisfied with their support, as it seems is the case for most people who call Asus.

This router is the best I've had since the linksys wrt54g. It's easy to configure for amateurs, tech gurus or professionals and the ability to use the professional settings to tweek the signal strength is wonderful. For example, I had no signal in my backyard when I was a grilling, so after a year of being frustrated, I purchased this router and now I have no problem streaming whatsoever. Highly recommended!

Like that the router reaches throughout the entire house and some outside areas. Also enjoy that we can access one of our hard drives through the router so we can view it from other wireless devices. Have not had any trouble with the router going out randomly or getting "lonely". Excellent purchase.

This has become my go to router to recommend to friends and family. This is a very fast and reliable router. I haven't pushed the routing speeds, as I haven't connected it to an internet connection fast enough to push the limits with this router, but it does good with standard internet connections up to 50mbps. I'm sure this doesn't come close to the capabilities of the router. WiFi coverage is incredible. This router will work hard to provide good coverage to devices that are in a bad spot for signal or far away from the router. While other routers' signal will degrade and will drop the device, this router will do what it can to provide a stable, consistent connection using it's Ai Radar feature. Drops disappear with this router. Wireless speeds are good for the average user with a moderate to high internet connection speed (50mbps or more-I haven't used it with higher speeds). On a final note, ASUS makes solid routers, and it's hard to go wrong with them.
