The setup guide wants me to "release outmoded IP address" from my computer. BestBuy said they could do it for me - for a price ! It sits in the box until my tech-savvy cousin can do this for me. The disk SHOULD allow you to Plug N Play, but it looks like a manual install all the way. Bronx Cheer THWWWWW !

Purchased this to get more range out of my home network. The cable company of course provided us with the cheapest most generic modem/router they could find. So I did some research on routers to extend the range of our wifi throughout the house. This sounded perfect. We have mostly Apple products (iPhones, iPad, Macbook Pros) so that should have been a red flag, but this sounded like a winner. Not so much. Slightly better than the basic modem/router that our cable co. provided, but the signal was weak or dropped completely on the other side of the house (about 2200 sq ft) so not even close to the range promised on the box. Took it back and purchased an Apple Airport Extreme and couldn't be happier.

      Dear Valued Customer,

You may need to adjust your wireless settings if you aren't seeing the performance you were expecting. Please also note that for Internet speeds, you are still limited by what your ISP provides you.
If you have any questions or would like to troubleshoot a bit, I am happy to help. You can reach me at [email protected] with anything on your mind.

My other router just didn't work as it should. not sure what happen but it didn't show up l, it would lag, some times it would drop me while streaming. So it was time for a new one. This asus n66r is great. maybe that's why it was sold out in many places and had to drive to a different city to get it. May I say it was worth it. Out of the box i was able to set it up and was up on less then 5 mins. I didn't have to put no cd or install any software. I did update the firmware. I have the router on the 2nd floor and I get good signal on the first. Something my old router was not able to dof even when new. also in gaming I feel it deal with the combo of wired, wireless 2.4 and 5ghz. It does heat up so I have it on blocks on each side to leave a inch space. I feel it helped to cool down since it's not as hot. Over all I gave it 5 stars Because it's work great and easy installation. My brother in law has the same one since last year and he says it's great, has had no problems.

I purchased this over other brands and paid more for it because I have an ASUS laptop and I thought this should be perfect because it is the same brand. All other computers in my house work fine with this but not my laptop. There has to be some kind of glich preventing this to communicate with the laptop. I am at a loss and do not know what to do. trying to decide if I should try to get best buy to take it back.It is just a pain because then all my security cameras have to be redone. I am so sorry I purchased this brand.

cannot get it to connect to two pcs but it connects to all apple products. Call the Geek Squad & the first available was in 3 weeks. Called to change & you have to speak to a supervisor who was suppose to call me back in 5 minutes, a week later I am still waiting. Best Buy has lost a customer. Called main office in Mn & that was comical as well.

Buy this router! Take it from a Network Junkie

Alright, so I have been hunting for routers in the past few weeks, and I initially got the Netgear Nighthawk R7000 to replace my old Cisco E1500. I got caught up in all of the hype and got the "ultimate" AC router. It turned out that wasn't the case. My R7000 kept dropping the wifi signal, then the next day it would slow down. That router along with many other AC routers are just not ready to be released yet, there's too many bugs. So I did some research and found this router to be the best Wireless N router and boy is it true. My box came with a broken Ethernet cable which isn't a big deal, I have many lying around. When I set this router up I was astonished at how simple it was. I was connected in less than 5 minutes. I get a constant 56Mbps internet from Comcast. Range is not a problem with this router. I went to the opposite end of my house and did some speed tests. Guess what? I hit 55Mbps! Wow, I was so surprised. Both bands work flawlessly on the router. Good job ASUS. Even to this day, they are releasing constant updates to this near perfect router. Don't think twice about buying this router friends.

this is the perfect router for any user...

I will say it right now that this is the best router I ever owned. The speed and distance is on point. This is perfect for a small and big house. This is perfect for hardcore gamers like myself... no lags and hit detection is on point when playing Call of Duty. The. NAT is open on both Xbox and PlayStation consoles. The router is so powerful that is definetely future proofknowing you have the 450mbps and the dual band. I like the fact that you can separate your dual band to two SSID but you don't have to. This brand knocks off Linksys for sure. Linksys routers now don't even last two years. I had upgraded from Linksys E3000 and it is that much of a difference. HD streaming is also amazing. I have nothing negative about the router. Easy setup and the router looks very nice. 10/10

Got this router when my old Cisco failed, so I needed a new one quickly. This is one of the more expensive wireless routers but I've been very pleased with it. I have it set up in a second floor room over the garage and the house is a spread-out rancher so I was concerned about strength of signal. Setup was easy. I have 3 laptops, a Roku, an Android tablet, an Ipod and a wireless HP Officejet 6500 printer. All connected easily and have stayed connected over the month that I've had this device. Streaming movies to the Roku (Netflix) is outstanding. So far, I'm very happy with this product. The dual banding and the guest user network are very nice features.

    Super fast...but buy the warranty!!

I purchased this router beginning of September. Very easy to set up, set up including firmware upgrade took less than 10 min. Noticed immediate speed gains, this thing is super fast. I pay for 50mbps service and can regularly hit 60mbps on my ipad, very nice. I read some reviews talking about failure after a couple months so I went back to best buy and purchased the two year warranty, thank god I did because sure enough after two months of working flawlessly this router started failing. My internet would slow to a crawl and a reboot of the router would fix it right away. I could also get great speeds hard wired to my modem so I knew it was the router, took it back and exchanged it for another one today. So far so good on the new one. I thought about getting a diff manufacturer but the thing is they all have their fair share of failures. I guess routers are just hit and miss like that. But I still have the warranty for two years on the new one. I like the asus enough to give it another try. If this one fails I will return it and try a netgear or linksys or something. So get the warranty, it's worth it. I don't mind giving it another try with the peace of mind that I can return or exchange for two years.
