it has great signal and I go all week without losing any compared to the one my internet provider gave us that had to be reset along with modem daily. one would cut out, reset it, then later the other. i would give it a 3.5 star but it does not do half stars. and i am more on the 3 side then 4. the reason or reasons is because it does split between devices. not to big and expected however, not user friendly to set up priorities per device. I game were as my wife and kids would watch movies on Netflix. Netflix allows a buffer time and does not take much download speed to be able to run. gaming takes a lot more. however this device looks at them all as equal. so my ping can go from a steady 50-60, and jump if my wife starts up a movie and kids as well. and it can jump up to 200+. sometimes making it unpleasant to game. i wish i could set it up easily to have my device get half or a quarter no matter what and then the other devices split. or maybe 1/3 for myself and 1/3 for wife and the rest for kids. because its not friendly for that i will give it a 3.5. i still recommend it as i have used others that where much worse and i don't even know if there are any higher end ones that are any better. just something i wish it did.

Decent unit, with better range than my last ASUS unit. The speed is also better and pretty easy to setup. Another nice feature is the guest network. Would have got 5 stars if the price was lower. This unit is been out for some time and I expected the price to be lower by now.

I tried Netgear, Belkin, Cisco, DLink, even Motorola! My signal kept dropping and sometimes I could not even find my network, even when standing right besides the router!! I figured I'd try something new and never heard of an Asus router. Creating reviews really does help people make sound choices. All the reviews were excellent so I figured what da heck! OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This router is freakin AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have a 25mb line and Im pulling 35mb sometimes even 40+mb!!!!!!!!!!!! I am VERY impressed and anywhere in my house I get FULL BARS!!!!!!! Will never buy another brand as far as a router goes. You will NOT be disappointed!!

    Asus Router

I bought this one to replace my aging 6 yr old router & to keep up with the TWC boost in downstream speed, I am a 76 yr old obstinate non techie & too proud to pay the geek squad $100+ to install it for me. But I did it in about 4 hours & a lot of cussing!! Pay close attention to the instruction book, & the CD disk where the actual manual is don't forget what information you keyed in especially on the WEP address, it installed 4 internet access ID screens be sure you have verbatim the same WEP key on all. Otherwise it works great ,covers all my 12 wifi gadgets & entire house effortlessly, ran into a bump trying to connect Netflix ,pick an ID that all TV's can read or use the WPS button. If I can install it & synthesize it to all my ,toys anybody can. When all else fails read the instructions.

I have been using a Netgear WNDR3700 for the past two years and the WiFi load over this time has exploded. 3 cell phones, 3 tablets, 4 computers, xbox, Roku, WiFi printer. I decided to update because of dropped connections. The Asus router is awesome! The dropped connections have been eliminated. The router can handle all of the connected devices with ease. The speed is also noticeably faster and when accessing a website the lag is non existent. I really can not believe the speed I am getting for this router. Setup was fast and easy. After plugged in I was up and running within 10 minutes (it took 3 - 4 minutes to download, and install, a firmware update).

Love this router. Tons of features and easy to use. The VPN was easy to setup and incredibly useful. I've also used this router as an access point in a home office to give me 4 ports without having to run a cable to the other side of the house.

Bought this for my mom who was having problems with the connection dropping between her old WiFi and tablets. Bought this unit, and was able to quickly configure it without any issues. Been working now for a couple of months without any issues.

    Overheating issues; no service support

Purchased 2 after reading favorable reviews. Nice bridging capability, decent flexibility in setup parameters, and decent throughput and performance overall. First one worked great for about 9 months, then performance and reliability started deteriorating. Noted on both units that the case was extremely hot, and due to the orientation when using the included stand, all the heat flowed to the ports region. Tried upgrading, but newer firmware had no effect, and seemed to exacerbate other issues with loss of port function and inability of the web interface to respond correctly. Then downgraded firmware. based on other site suggestions. No help but no degradation. Second unit started acting up at about 6 months, same overall issues. Finally started an RMA through customer service, well within the 2 year warranty. Sent them is but was notified that the problem was 'customer induced', due to 'incorrect' firmware. Note that ALL firmware was pulled from the ASUS site. Customer service rep told me they didn't list the as-purchased firmware listed as compatible with the unit. Wanted to charge me for repair even though the issues predated my firmware changes. Poor support for their '2 year' warranty, when the units were basically non-functional after 6 and 9 months and all I did was try to go through the usual home diagnostic routine. Beware of their units (or any other manufacturers) that orient the unit such that heat rises toward the port connection end. The only improvement I ever found was to remove from their stand and either set flat on the shelf or put a block under the end opposite the ports (revers slope orientation of the included stand)

Def a step up from Linksys....Great Product

Supports Wake-On LAN......I loved the fact that ASUS has taken this in consideration as well as some other handy tools that will give you granular control of your network compared to using a device at the Command Line. Initially purchased a Linksys and was disappointed in the support of WOL.....read the reviews on this device and couldn't be more happier...the GUI Interface is great for your Novice User and Intermediate User. I'm pretty familiar with Networking and this device will keep you busy with setting it up the way you like it....AiCloud is a pretty useful tool with using Wake-On LAN and accessing your devices files remotely.....def would recommend this product. I've yet to explore custom firmware but sure that will open up more possibilities with this device.

Unlike the brand name router that I bought over the years, like Belkin and Netgear, this one was ACTUALLY easy to set up. No glitches or hiccups; my PC Laptop, iMac, iPad, iPhones, Android phones and tablet all connected w/o any issues. I was even able to get my 5Ghz signal in my living room, which was a distant wish with my last router. I also don't have the buffer/latency issues I used to have when streaming on my PS3 or Chromecast, so I could even stream movies more consistently...even with Comcast's poor service.

My old N WIFI router was failing after 4+ years of reasonbly good service. I picked this unit after reading reviews on the internet websites. The results were a stronger signal, better coverage range and faster speed. The setup wizard made this a very easy install.

In our house we have 1 xbox 360, 2 laptops, 1 desktop, 1 ipad, and 3 smartphones. We use a lot of bandwith within this house. Streaming and surfing I've had not one issue with this router. This router is paired with a Motorola surf board modem. Doing a speed test from Comcast which is also my ISP. I peaked out at 89.02 Mbps and average 65 Mbps. It's worth every penny by my standers.

I've worked in software for decades; shame on me for not knowing how much difference a high-quality router could make. There is absolutely no comparison between this router and the $40 router I had before. Max. signal strength in all parts of our house; download and streaming speeds are screaming fast compared to before. I used the setup wizard on the cd and was up and running in <5 minutes. The in-store price at Best Buy was within a few dollars of the best online price I found.

I live in a 3 level townhouse and previously had a Netgear router that would get very poor reception on the 3rd level where my office is located (modem/router set up in basement). I was getting very frustrated and was in the market for an affordable alternative. Did alot of research and many were saying to give the Asus router a close look. I couldn't be happier with this router. I get flawless connectivity on every level of my home. We have 4 laptops, 2 xbox one's, multiple users online all throughout the day and so far I have experienced no issues. If you don't want to spend a ton on a AC router this may be the best option.

I was about to rewire my house for streaming. Friend at work told me about this about 7:30 am, i purchased by 10am that day. Easy to set up and I have It running now for a few months no complaints. Boosted my signal to reach all rooms of the house. Gaming, Video, websurfing have all been made easy by this little Gem.

I bought this for a home-office user, it connected easily to the existing network and was simple to configure. Wireless range is "good enough" to not be a concern and this unit is able to handle the load of several high demand users with multiple devices much better than the provided AT&T modem/Router combo. I've had great luck with several ASUS routers in the past and feel they are an excellent value for the quality and performance they offer.

I upgraded from an old g router and the speed and range boosts are nice. It for some reason will not add my one wireless printer even if I manually add it. The user interface could be a little more simple with better explanations so there is less need to go to the online faq instruction pages. The price is a bit high but I decided to get one of the newer ones that will last awhile.
