I love this router. I was skeptical because previous routers (of other manufacturer's) were dud's. Anyhow, the UI is easy enough to use. I seem to have better transfer rates/consistency than previous routers.

This thing is fantastic. It's positioned under my stairs, in the center of my house and I can get full bars in the back of my lot (150 ft away). Also very stable. Haven't had to restart it since I bought it several months ago. Couldn't ask for more.

Increased my wi-fi coverage greatly throughout the house even with it located on the second floor of my home. Wi-fi has good connectivity even in the basement.

    Strong, flexible router

Installed this at a business that had an Apple Airport Extreme. The Apple part doesn't allow you to disable DHCP if you have a server or another appliance providing DHCP so it had to go. I use this same router at home and it does a fantastic job. The business has 3 stories and needed to cover them all, which it did. It's a bit expensive, but for the power and feature set, it's a good buy.

This is an excellent router with long range wifi signal. Asus also have the Dual-Band Wireless-AC Gigabit Router for $199.99 but if your device doesn't support AC band it's not worth purchasing. Go to Asus website to find out further information about the product.

Having never set up a router before, it only took a few minutes to figure it out - barely needed to look at the instructions. Working smoothly so far.

It's really good, but I needed more signal

To start off, this is an amazing router with great features but I needed more, I thought this would be good for my home but it wasn't i actually had to upgrade to the 200.00$ one because I needed more signal in my home. Overall this is a really good router for medium sized homes, I would recommend the the 200.00$ one for really, really large homes. On this router my mom can be on her iPad, my dad can be on his iPad, my brother can be on his iPad watching YouTube videos and downloading applications, my sister can be on her iPhone, and I can be on my computer playing League of Legends(LoL) and still have 63 ping and have some music playing in the background. The only problem was the signal because the router is farther on one side of the house than the other which is why we upgraded to the 200.00$ Asus router. Awesome router in all I would RECOMMEND THIS ONLY FOR MEDIUM SIZED HOUSES NOT LARGE HOUSES FOR LARGE HOUSES I RECOMMEND THE ONE IN THE RECOMMENDATION BOX.

    possibly good router, bad firmware

Great features for the money. The problem I had was like many others. Updated to newest firmware and made all settings from wired pc. Then as I added wired and wireless clients, I lost access to the routers setup page via 192.168.1.1. I could access it from wireless clients then but in turn those wireless clients lost internet access. Seems to be a big bug in the Asus firmware. I returned for similar Netgear.

    Rock Solid Router

Typical of the Asus motherboards, video cards and monitors, this router is hands and fists above the competition. Simply hook it up, open your browser (don't worry about not being connected to the internet# and let Asus do the rest. Flawless configuration for my desktop, iPad, laptop and Blu-ray. Actually, I did have to reconfigure my Blu-ray player #Asus was connected but the player kept dropping the signal# but that was a Samsung issue, and by holding down the 'stop' button on the player I was able to reconfigure everything #Netflix, Pandora, Hulu# and all was well. Also, the unit fully covers my near 3,000 sq. ft. single story home. If you need more coverage, or have a multiple story home or business, drop the extra 50 bucks for the next unit up. Recommended!

Easy set-up as AP attched to AT&T Uverse residential gateway - the 2Wire router was junk. Admin interface is easy to use. Works well with 2 smart TVs, mobile devices, laptop. Integral firmware for NAS also very easy to set up. Use this as a single AP in a 4000 sq.ft. house, and have very good to excellent signal strength throughout.

    Amazing speeds!

After much research toward buying a new wireless router to replace my aging and slowing down Linksys E1550, I decided to go with the Asus RT-N66R based off of it's excellent reviews. I have absolutely no regrets about this purchase so far, as I have WiFi speeds now that I didn't think were achievable with my internet package. Directly wired to my Linksys router, I would experience consistently 28-30mbps d/l speeds. However, the maximum speed I'd ever get wirelessly was 12 mbps, and that was right next to the router with no other clients connected. My average speed with all devices connected and running would be 3-5 mbps. Now with this Asus router, I have had as high as 31mbps wirelessly! The only thing that was tricky and took several hours to do was setting up my 4 foscam IP cameras to work with this router, initially there were issues with the foscams staying connected to the router, which resolved for unknown reasons after resetting the router several times. Port forwarding and creating static IPs for the foscams took multiple resets of the router as well. However, all is running perfectly now and I have no complaints!

I used a netgear N600 router for about 3 years. I am a tmobile user and I rely heavily on their wi-fi calling feature. The netgear was dropping calls and the calls were always very distorted. The wireless throughput is amazing I am able to stream on multiple devices within my network with out any issues.

I've been using since 11/15, no issues! Setup was easy (I'm an IT Professional, but I'd totally recommend this to non-technical people for home use.) We've never had to reboot, it's a solid piece of equipment!

This router was easy and fast to install. I was worried it would complicated, but it works well with my Charter Cable modem (100 MB) and together they fly. Had zero problems during install and the router works flawlessly.

Upgrading from an old D-Link that dropped wireless connections at least once a day, the configuration options and overall performance of this router blew me away. I did experience a period where seemingly every night at the same time I would lose Wi-Fi for a moment, but I haven't had an issue in the last few months.

    **WARNING** Windows 8 Compatibility Issue

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I got this router home and couldn't get the router to respond to my computer running Windows 8. I installed the software and even called the customer service number on the box and they simply advised me to swap it out thinking it was dead out of the box. I took it to a friends house with a computer running windows 7 since there is no windows 8 compatibility sticker on the box and everything worked great on his machine. I downloaded the newest firmware and flashed it to the router. When I got it hooked back up at home everything was fine. Point of the story is it may need to be updated before it will work for you. I am sure geeksquad could do this for you. I hope this doesn't deter anyone from buying this fine product. Once running this is a great router and very well built. Has a range longer than any other router on the market.

Product? OK-ish. Support? Not so much...

Based on several glowing reviews of this product, I bought it to replace an aging Linksys WRT160Nv3. Despite a hundred-dollar difference in price, performance between the two units was indistinguishable: signal coverage, speed, and connection reliability were basically the same. Since we don't have any 5 GHz devices in the house yet, I can't speak to the dual-band features of the product. I was hoping for more from this product, but wasn't unhappy with the purchase. Two months after I bought it, however, a port on the gigabit switch failed. Since the product was beyond Best Buy's recently-reduced return window, I've had to deal with Asus customer support. For a technology company, their customer-facing technology is abysmal. So bad, in fact, it makes one wonder if they aren't trying to discourage customers from using it. Getting an RMA for the unit was an unnecessarily convoluted and time-consuming task, and, once I got the RMA, I was informed that I would have to pay to have the unit shipped to Asus. I was also informed that replacement might be made with a recertified or remanufactured unit and that any replacement would inherit the warranty period of the original unit, i.e., the warranty would not be extended because of the replacement. Pffft. Fortunately, I kept the old Linksys router. And, after I plugged it back into our home network, I immediately regretted my purchase of this product. In fact, If I could get my money back, I would. Since that isn't an option now, I'll probably just put the unit up for sale when I get it back from Asus.

This is the best router you can buy. It's very stable and very performant, even with the stock firmware. The range is awesome. In addition, it is also compatible with custom firmwares, if that is your thing.
