    Great, but Not Amazing

Overall this is a very high quality computer, especially for the price. Whats Great: -High powered -Very Fast -Relatively low cost -Overall high quality build -Long battery life Whats Good: -The track pad is silky smooth, it's very pleasing and very accurate, I do not understand everyone else complaints -Aluminium body is nice, not near as slippery as most people indicate -Fan is not near as loud as everyone says it is. Under low loads it is actually pretty quite, under high loads it is a little noisy, but not excessively. Whats Not Great: -Moderate heat under extended loads (it gets a little hot when you are downloading for extended periods of time). Really not a whole lot of complaints, I think it is a solid buy for those who don't want to drop the money on the upper tier laptops like the Zenbook.

    Fan makes horrible noise

First impression was good, from start the fan sound was audible, but into second month it started making more noise which I cant ignore and its irritating. While typing fast, sometimes it wont print some letters, we have to press hard especially the Spacebar. Cons: Fan sound, Keyboard, battery life not as mentioned. pros: Slim and light weight, fast, price.

    Amazing Laptop for the Money!

This laptop is really fast and it never lags. Screen resolution is great. The built-in speakers are actually pretty decent for a laptop, I was pleasantly surprised. I have read other reviews about the fan noise and I've been waiting for a loud fan to kick on only to find out is had already been running frequently and I did not even realize it - it is NOT loud at all. I often sit in a quiet library and use this laptop and it is no issue. For the price, you cannot find a better computer with the same specs. Actually, nothing else comes close at this price point.

For the price, this laptop just can't be beat!

PROS: 16 GB memory; 512 SSD; backlit keyboard; harman/kardon; fingerprint option; 2-in-1 CONS: Fan can be heard. Now, it's not that loud - believe me I've heard worse - but, if you want a laptop where you cannot hear it at all, this laptop is not for you. Screen isn't IPS or qhd or retina enabled, so if that's a deal breaker for you, look elsewhere. For the price, I think ASUS could have included a screen with a higher resolution. Overall I am happy; I was able to buy this laptop today at a reduced price of $899!!!

I have the same issue with some of the reviewers

The fan... it is pretty loud and got activated quite often, even though not much work load was being handled. Does ASUS really care about user experience. Sigh... People who are sensitive to noise might want to find another product. Keyboard is really great, very similar to MacBook Air. Another thing I noticed was that it's not "flat" when putting it on the table. But it's shouldn't be a big problem. I used to be a Mac guy, and I think l probably should go back to Mac sooner than later. I gave four stars for the relatively low price and high config, the fan issue is really annoying to me, a sensitive guy to any sound.

    Almost Perfect

Got this as an open-box purchase which saved me enough to buy and easily install a 1 TB M.2 SSD to replace the kinda-small 512 GB SSD. I need lots of storage space because I just got a 4K video camera and those 4K files are HUGE so one needs as much storage space as possible. No, I realize the screen isn't 4K but it is good enough to review the days shots and just looks great for just about everything: pictures, videos, Netflix, etc. Love the black keyboard as it makes the letters very easy to see at night with the backlit feature. I had tried some other laptops with a more silver looking keyboard and they were hard to see at night as the screens reflected too much light onto the shiny keys and I could hardly make them out unless I turned off the backlit feature, weird. Read some folks had complaints about loud fans and excess heat but mine is quiet and cool. Basically everything works well. My only serious pet-peeve is the power adapter having the big "brick" attached at the very end of the unit where it covers up too much of the outlet. To remedy this one-of-a-kind oddity, I bought a thick, 1 foot long extension cord that fits in better - what were they thinking?? I imagine this model will soon come with a 1 GB SSD but I was tired of waiting so I pulled the trigger after looking at 6 other small laptops and returning them. I wish they made this smaller one with all the features of the 15 inch version - now that would be a big no compromise winner!

    Extremely loud fan

Yes it is the productive laptop for a very reasonable price, but what I really did not expect from a thin laptop with SSD hard drive to have a big loud fan. I had Samsung ultrabook before and it was super quite. So I probably will return this Asus back to the store and order Samsung. Sad, that Best Buy don't offer them anymore.

Poor keyboard, trackpad, display and build quality

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

To me, this laptop basically fails at being a laptop. - The display has severe screen bleeding. - Wi-Fi performance is weak. - The keyboard feels cheap. - The trackpad has a mind of its own and is slow. - Fan noise is easily heard when doing even basic tasks. - Build quality needs improvements as the bottom plate and even the trackpad aren't flush with the rest of the laptop. The only things I liked: - Fingerprint sensor is very fast and reliable. Every laptop needs one of these. - Port selection is excellent for something this thin and light. - Boot times are fast. If you're planning on keeping the Q324UA for a long period of time, I recommend you look at something else.

    Best Bang for Your Buck

I bought the HP Spectre x360 13.3" with the 7th gen Intel 7500u and had it for 2 weeks before I saw this on sale for $999. This laptop compared to the HP has the same cpu, memory and display adapter so I decided to give it a try. This laptop has: HDMI SD Card Reader 2 USB3 ports 1 USB C port Headphone jack The HP Spectre only has 1 USB3 port, 2 USB C ports and a headphone jack. The only thing I liked about the HP is it's aesthetics. The bezel is thinner and it came in a pretty box with a leather sleeve. As far as performance goes, they are very similar and I haven't noticed anything different. The keys on the Asus are closer together and the trackpad is smaller which I like. Did I mention I got it for $999 compared to HP Spectre's $1299? I haven't experienced any issues with this laptop and I will update my review when something happens. For now, I'll give it 4.5 stars.

Premium look and feel, but quality control issues

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Before buying this laptop, know that it features an i7-7500U DUAL-CORE processor, which is plenty fast for web browsing, presentations, and light multimedia, but may stutter/lag when gaming or processing intense graphics. Many laptops, although larger are using the i7-6700hq and i7-7700hq which are QUAD-CORE processors and provide much better speed. Unlike many 15.6" and up models, the Q324ua lacks a dedicated graphics card and therefore isn't meant for gaming. If you want to try out the latest games, I'd look elsewhere. PROS: -Very thin & lightweight, high quality metal construction, easy to carry around -Sturdy 360 degree hinges allow tablet usage and avoids snap risk found on most laptops -Minimalist all black design is a nice alternative to the silver or gold ultrabooks -Runs very fast and smoothly once Asus bloatware and Microsoft's cloud services are disabled -512 GB solid state drive is spacious and fast -16 GB RAM gives it a bit of future proofing -Good keyboard and trackpad given the thinness -Surprisingly good battery life -Stays a reasonable temperature even with heavy use -Decent number of ports: USB, HDMI, etc (no adapter needed like Apple) CONS: -Screen has considerable light bleed when displaying black -Screen shows signs of burn in and ghosting after 30+ min of web browsing -When flipping into tablet mode, the flip sensor gets confused and switches back and forth between tablet and desktop modes -Down arrow key seems weak and doesn't always register presses -High pitched fan noise when listening to music or watching videos -Upon first use, the CPU usage was hitting 90-100%, fans roaring, had to disable bloatware to get it back to normal levels. -Power button is on the left and hard to press with big fingers TIPS: -If CPU usage is too high, disable Asus bloatware, turn off Microsoft's cloud based features, and disable any high usage startup apps. -If the flip sensor is acting up, you can force desktop or tablet mode in settings -If you get this laptop, check the screen for burn in or ghosting after long periods of web browsing. BOTTOM LINE: Ultimately, I returned the Q324ua for something more powerful. In real world use, it did not seem to be a noticeable improvement over ultrabooks I tested with and i5 with 8 GB RAM. It might have been defective, but having both screen issues and flip sensor problems, I have doubts on the quality control of this model. I've had great experiences with Asus laptops in the past, so this could be a fluke or corners were cut to offer a more affordable model. Given the price and class of the laptop I'm left with very mixed feelings. Admittedly, this laptop is likely designed for business and multi-tasking, and to look good while doing it. That said, you could get an equally powerful 15.6" laptop, albeit larger/heavier, for roughly $300 less, an i5 ultrabook with 8 GB RAM for $200-300 less that could handle most of the same productivity needs, or you could go with a much more powerful gaming laptop for the same price or a bit more. On the other hand, It looks and feels great, provides solid multitasking ability, and is a much better value than comparable Apple products. If you're in the market for an attractive extremely portable ultrabook or 2-in-1, and don't plan on gaming or video editing, this could be great for you. The Q324ua, if you get one with a good screen and good flip sensor, is a good value when on sale, but the MSRP is excessive. I should note that Best Buy customer service was excellent during the exchange process and took the stress out of getting a lemon.

So, the laptop works. Fine. The problems that I mentioned about the screen being poorly constructed have gotten worse. Also, I've always propped this laptop up on my thule case to allow sufficient airflow and raise it high enough for easy typing. today I tried putting it on a table (after several months of owning it) and lo and behold -- it doesn't sit flush. it wobbles. and when you type on it like any given normal laptop, it flexes horribly. also, the computer, for whatever reason, gets super hot intermittently and ramps up the fan to max for no reason. I clock this on speedfan and monitor cpu usage through task manager -- a complete mystery. this computer's a steal. for asus. because they obviously didn't put much consideration into design and quality. just avoid it. buy an hp.

    Good Laptop

It's been 2 weeks of usage. No problem so far. Pros: Good value, fast, light weight, thin, convertible into a tablet, touch screen, keyboard/touch pad are good, fingerprint scanner, Windows (yes Windows), good build, 512GB SSD, good battery life (never timed, feel like a whole day of usage), stay cool, generally quiet Cons: no keyboard back light, finish attracts fingerprint on first day (not a problem as fingerprints saturated), the metal casting may be a little thin for light weight so may be dented easily Overall, it is a very good computer for its price so far.

I really loved this laptop when I first purchased it. It is great for the price and works very well. My problem with it was the quality, it is so thin it broke within the first month I had it. The cost to get just the touch screen repaired is beyond crazy, even if you do it yourself there are no parts out there to fix it. Thanks to this laptop being a Best Buy only. Even though it works well and I wanted to love this laptop, it really disappointed me very quickly. Buy something more durable.

This notebook works great, fans are not noisy at all. Case does fingerprint but I gave the case a lite coat of car wax and it helped cut the finger printing in half. Other than that there are no complaints.....

Product completely ruined by it's cooling Fan

Unfortunately this is another laptop that Best Buy sells with a high-pitched noisy fan.. This one takes it a step further by running the fan even when the system is completely idle, doing nothing at all. Most other systems like the new HP Spectre x360 at least turn the fan completely off until temps reach 80c.. This one runs all the time and opening a web page will cause it scream. If it wasn't for the fan, i'd say the machine was worth the money and would highly recommend it.. It's ruined completely by the annoying ringing of the fan.. sad, sad, Asus. Macbooks are 100% silent nearly 99% of the time and they too, have full powered CPUs.. Take note other makers.

Fan and mother board both replaced

I bought this computer back in January and have had nothing but issues ever since. The fan runs constantly. It was replaced but still runs more often than it should and it's very loud. This computer has a lot of capacity yet the CPU is running at 100% with most things that I'm working on. The motherboard was replaced but the issue continues. I've had to turn off updates and many other systems just to avoid the issue. I use the computer for work. Excel Dropbox and google chrome because I use gotomeeting and the computer can hardly handle it. The fan and CPU run the whole time. I love the idea but the computer is a bust. My files are large but this computers capacity was built just for that. But can't handle it. I'm so disappointed and frustrated. I'm sending t back for a third time.

I bought this laptop 3 months ago, the paint around the screen started peeling off within 20 days. Took the product back to BBY and they fixed it for me, after a couple of weeks, same problem occurred. Took it back to best buy and twice thru Geek squad sent it out to fix. As I did not purchase geek squad protection, ASUS wanted me to pay $410 to fix the laptop and was told that warranty did not cover. Though on the ASUS website and Best Buy website it clearly says 1 year on parts and labor. After reading thru the warranty doc. ASUS does not cover any appearance issues. BEWARE and read the warranty information fully do not assume. I will not recommend this product to anyone.

I researched at length before purchasing this laptop. With the RAM, hard drive size, and other features, I believed the Asus Q324 would perfectly fit my law school needs. It is lightweight and that is just one of the positive features, but the positives are outweighed by the negatives. The ASUS often would not connect to the internet when other students using the same network had strong connections. It crashed repeatedly using word processing programs or internet or photo viewing programs. Very disappointed in its performance and returned it.
