Worst laptop I've ever owned!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought my first of this model. It crashed after one week. I thought maybe it was just a fluke because it came so highly recommended. Accepted a replacement of the same model. It ALSO crashed about a month later. I replaced it with a different brand.

Windows 10 is terrible!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have several Windows Mail accounts. It seems that Windows 10 is not really compatible with Windows Mail. It has cost me $thousands in business. Not happy at all. I guess that ASUS machine is OK.

Amazing machine for the business
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm pretty impressed with the solid built Asus did on this machine, this is a replacement for mine Q550LF which I decided the dedicated GPU isn't necessary since I don't play games anymore. It took few minutes to setup and I'm pretty happy this is my second day using the laptop. I use the laptop for my work which requires many browser tabs on Google Chrome, the machine didn't slow down nor show any signs of lagging. I recommend students and small business owner to buy this machine since is well built by Asus and you can also upgrade the memory to 16gb. I'm pretty happy overall the screen shows crisp image quality, I'm sure I will enjoy the machine for the next 24 months until I decide to replace to a new one.

A rarity in a laptop, a delight to use!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As an experienced computer user and employed in the IT field myself, I come in contact with hundreds of computers every week and have had the fortune to try and test all these different models. I was ready to make the leap to Apple finally and bought this laptop on a whim. I am FLOORED. I am struggling to pick my jaw up off the floor because using this laptop, from set up to just every day use, is fantastic. It is a positive delight to operate! It is swift, responsive, silent! Beautiful screen and great design. This laptop FEELS good, and for a budget item, good design is a big factor. Nothing about this laptop feels budget. The brushed metal case is nice to the touch and looks beautiful. The keyboard is just the right responsiveness, if a little shallow, and it really feels like ASUS cut the bloatware to make room for the good stuff. 10/10 I would recommend this product to my friends.

Only one real complaint, but huge for audio produc
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was a GREAT deal at $550. It's not exactly what I wanted, but very close and for the price it was a no brainer. The only problem turned out to be a BIG one though. The combo mic/speaker port. I bought the correct splitter with 4 conductors on the plug and with mic and headphone jacks separated and labeled as such on the other end (StarTech). But it refused to work. Under no circumstances after trying for 2 weeks with the splitter, driver updates, switching to MS drivers, and contacting tech support twice could I get the mic and the headphones to work at the same time. Epic fail for podcasting and broadcast production, which is one of the main reasons I bought this laptop... and for digital ham radio communications. I finally had to resort to an external USB sound card to run the headphones, and use the combo jack as the mic input to get rid of hiss and to use the preamp. PLEASE manufacturers, put separate mic and headphones jacks back into laptops!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On the backlight keyboard, you just have to turn it up to turn it on. It appears to default to off out of the box. Other than some horrid Windows 10 issues with my external hard drive during migration from my old laptop that aren't the fault of Asus, I'm pretty happy. It's not the fastest machine, but enough over adequate to make me happy. It's definitely faster than my old i5 ivy bridge. I wish they would go for the 7200 rpm hybrid hard drives though. But I knew that up front. Had I known the audio issue ahead of time, I wouldn't have bought it. I'm not crazy about the 2-in-1, but it doesn't detach so it's not that big of a deal. It's just a feature I don't use. But it's worth the $550 for sure, and runs smoothly now that I spent 3 weeks working out the bugs and installed everything.... including an external sound card sticking out the side.

Great for Students/Teachers
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am a grad student who also teaches undergraduate science, so I needed something that could multitask, was (relatively) lightweight, and had a display large enough to be able to split screen. I wasn't ready to spend extra for a touchscreen, especially when I'm pretty old-school and don't really use tablets for anything other than games or reading. However, at this price, I really couldn't pass up the features of this computer - the tablet feature was a bonus. So, here's the things I love about it as a student/teacher: - Large, widescreen display. Can easily split screen to have one document to read and another open to take notes. - Numerical keyboard (the keys are smaller, but it's still soooo much easier than hunting above the letters) - Multiple USB ports (1 on left, 2 on right) - HDMI port (no need for a converter!) - Bluetooth/wireless connectivity to compatible TVs and other displays. - LONG battery life (about 6 hours using basic web/word, less if I'm doing something graphics intensive such as movies or gaming) - Ability to use a capacitive stylus to highlight, take notes, etc. Way more accurate than using a mouse. - Transitions between apps/programs seamlessly. The only two downsides so far are: - The capacitive touchscreen... mainly because I can't rest my hand on the screen as I highlight or take notes. - The keyboard is exposed when I flip into tablet mode. Yes, you can enable "tablet mode" which turns off the keyboard, but it still seems a bit awkward. It's not an issue when I'm using a table, but I don't like using tablet mode when I'm just holding it or it's sitting in my lap. Overall, this computer offers quite a few features that when compared to similar laptops, make this one a steal. I have not noticed any of the issues that other reviewers mentioned such as slow processing, weird noises or freezing in low battery conditions. I am beyond happy with this purchase! If you're still not sure, check out the Q&A at the top of the page. There are answers to alot of questions you may have never thought to ask!

Long Time Dell and Toshiba User
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I originally purchased a Q303 and had to return 3 different units for mfg defects (It happens, probably a bad batch). I ended up getting this PC on a really good deal because of the college student discount. There aren’t many reviews on it due to it being released on June 8, 2016. The sales person at the store didn’t even know they had it in stock, but Best Buy’s websites inventory status was accurate. Don’t believe the reviews you may read about the battery life or that it uses Li-Ion as opposed to Lithium-Polymer. I did a lot of reading on the topic and experimented as well. The Q504 will give you roughly 5-6 hours on a full charge. The Q302/Q303/Q304 will give you about 5-7 hours on a full charge. The bottom line, I got this awesome machine for less that the listed price of its 13 inch counter parts. The 12 gigs of RAM (expandable to 16 gb of RAM), 10-Key, Full HD widescreen set it apart from the ASUS 13 inchers and it only weighs about 1 1/2 lbs. more. There are many other features, but these features were important for me during my search.

love it
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I looked at a lot and watched a lot of reviews on laptops and after being frustrated with my options I headed to best buy. this one wasn't even on my radar. But when I used it in the store I went home and ordered it online on a review i had read someone had gotten a student coupon and I was bummed because I was already signed up and never got a coupon well low and behold my coupon was emailed today. I called best buy told them what happened and they are going to apply my coupon making my purchases for 550 let me tell you I am so pleased not only with the laptop but best buy.. This is why I always buy my electronics from them .

Excellent Quality for the $$$
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this computer a few days ago, had it delivered in no time. I got an $800 laptop for $530! While it may not be the fanciest, I am impressed with the overall quality. I'm not a gamer, I am strictly using it for business now, and it seems to work perfect. I like the keyboard, the backlight, etc... Touchscreen works great. Overall good design. I do agree, I wish you could disconnect the keyboard when in tablet mode to avoid any unwanted typing etc..
