Customers consistently note the Q524UQ's excellent performance, impressive graphics capabilities, and user-friendly design as significant strengths. The responsive touchscreen and ample storage are also frequently praised. However, some users express concerns regarding the battery life and hard drive speed. A lack of a built-in CD drive is also mentioned as a drawback by a few customers.

I replaced my 1 month old laptop with this one. Having roughly the same issues with this one. Just seems too slow and the touch screen is being 50% unresponsive. Time to visit the Geeks, again.

I thought i7 and 12GB of ram plus nVidia graphics card would give it at least acceptable performance. It doesn't. I've got an Android tablet which runs about as "fast" as this thing. In addition... Bang&Oluffsen? Are you kidding me? If you don't have the EXTERNAL speaker/subwoofer plugged in, the sound coming out of it is like... hmm.. do you have earphones? If you like the sound coming out of them while laying in front of you on the table, you'll be OK with the sound coming out of this thing. Otherwise stay away. Returned, refunded.

I purchased the laptop and had problems from the get go. It gave me the blue screen and had to be rebooted numerous times. Once it booted up, I updated windows and had the issue quite a few times after that. It is also very, very slow. It was frustrating waiting for it to do what I wanted it to do such as open the Internet. I returned it on day 2.

one of the best laptops I've owned but the windows 10 really kills the likely hood of keeping this laptop for much longer

Our local Best Buy is moving again so they had some great deals on Open Box items. This was listed as "Fair" condition on the open box label. My friend that works there opened it up, we inspected every inch of it and the only thing wrong were about 10 fingerprints on the screen. We wiped them off with the cloth, inspected it more, and it was nothing short of excellent. Although I have not done much with it, setup was simple and fast. Installed updates, installed apps, and transferred files from the half dead old computer. It is lightening fast for our purposes. It is my wife's who will mainly use it for lesson plans, internet, and email. It will never really get a workout. I doubt I can post the price I got it for, but I paid less than half of the current price. 12GB, 2TB, Core i7, 2GB dedicated graphics is more than enough. If I need it faster, I would replace the HDD with an SSD

Worst new laptop I have ever owned

I read all the reviews and finally took the plunge on this laptop. Great specs for the price. Pros: The laptop looks really good and feels really well built. Cons: First, it is a narcissist's dream. My wife could do her makeup in the glossy screen reflection. Worse than that, is this thing moves at a snail's pace. When I first started it up, it took forever to boot. New laptop, so maybe it takes some extra time to boot. Installed updates, same thing. Installed some programs, same thing. So, I thought maybe I just needed to reset it. Reset Windows and started over. Installed all of the Windows updates, rebooted to a fresh Windows with no programs installed. Once again I tested a restart and it took almost 2 minutes to shutdown and restart. My 7 year old Toshiba that I was replacing has a similar restart time. If you get beyond the horrible startup times, then you get to a computer that is generally unresponsive to everything. There is no zip to this computer at all. Now, maybe I got a defective unit and maybe ASUS would take care of everything and make it right, but quite frankly, for a 2 day old laptop, I'm not willing to go that route and plan on returning it tonight. I may play around with the display model and try another one, but based on this one, this is by far the worst laptop purchase I have ever made (including one that didn't turn on out of the box - at least it didn't waste my time to find out it was a dud).

    Horrible ASUS warranty

Should be a 0 rating. I've purchased 2 of the same Q524U laptops within last year. about 6 months in one of them had the hinge rip through the screen simply by opening the screen while laptop was on a desk. screen and touch portion were damaged. Sent back for repair and Asus expert technicians refuse to fix under warranty stating it is physical damage caused by me and there is no defect. the hinge is difficult to open and eventually pulled away from the internal frame. After numerous disputes and phone calls i had them reduce repair costs from $450 to $350. Absolutely unacceptable. I've been an IT manager for 20 years and have used various Asus products in that time. My issue is with their warranty. if the battery were to explode and burn the laptop up i guess that would be my fault as well considering the physical damage. when an internal component breaks causing damage to screen itself, it should be under warranty. Don't expect to get anywhere with them. You are only going to talk to someone who can try to give you a small discount for repairs. Unfortunately i am truly disappointed and will no longer buy ANY Asus products. waiting for broken unit to be returned to me and i'll get aftermarket LCD replacement for a quarter the cost to patch it back together. Absolute waste of time and money.

good laptop but made the mistake not realizing it didn't have Win 10 Pro on it so I had to spend another $100 to upgrade. Other than that good computer.

I bought this when my Dell was stolen as a replacement for my grad school laptop - this is NOT for commuting, it is VERY heavy and the battery life is terrible. It was 50% last night, was on standby all night and completely drained this morning when I went to use it. I did a TON of research into my Dell but bought this ASUS in an emergency and I am sorry I did.

A week and a half into my purchse, the screen started to flicker on and off. I don't know if it's because of sensitive cables inside, but I don't have time to send it off through geek squad and get it repaired. It's an alright computer, but I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else.

If you love slow starts, this laptop is for you. Once everything finally loads, speed picks up a bit, but for an i7, this laptop is super slow to load. The color is pretty, there are great apps, and WiFi is great. I finally gave up and took advantage of the return. This was not a good choice for me.
