Very very nice. Great for travel. I got this because it was supposed to be light (2.6 lbs). However, the trick is that is just the weight of the computer itself. The keyboard is an extra 1.4 lbs. for a total weight of 4.0. Not a dealbreaker, but a bit misleading. However, the keyboard is super nice (leathery feeling). The only criticisms is that you truly cannot use it on your lap. It really is a tablet or table-top device. Reviews said the battery is the biggest issue. They may be right, but for the amount of computing power, I don't know why you would be using this without a power outlet nearby. It still has enough battery to get things done in a pinch until you can plug in.

I will make your struggle simpler: 1\ if you want to choose between Z13 or other gaming LAPTOPs, choose other gaming laptops for much better price. 2\ if you want to choose between Z13 or any surface tablets (e.g. if you have hard demand for note taking or portability), then it's a trade between performance (z13) and battery life/weight (surface) 3\ if you decide to go with Z13, try to find an open box excellent condition; here are some details: 1\ if you only need ANY gaming PC for some light gaming while have certain portability, but are intrigued by Z13's unique form factor, my suggestion is to get a regular gaming laptop. there are plenty thin/light laptops that offer better specs and way better price than Z13 2\ if you somehow get stuck with a tablet form factor, either for note taking, or any other reason (e.g. my work space is only 5 inch wide, can't fit a regular laptop with keyboard), then you are really thinking between Z13 and surface pros. then here is the comparison: Z13: 1TB SSD, 16G RAM, 120hz screen, i7 3050/i9 3050Ti, with typecover no pen, MSRP 1800-1900 (constantly discounted) Surface pro 9: 128GB SSD, 8GB RAM i5 -MSRP 1000, no pen (130), no type cover (180 MSRP) i9 16G 256SSD (no pen no type cover) MSRP 1600 Z13 specs are far better for the price, which allows you to do basically any thing for light duty (large data analyses, 3D modeling, light gaming [will struggle with most recent 3As but capable for most 3+ year old games], heavy streaming, content creation, heavy duty presentations [e.g. slides with live chart of > 10K datapionts], or anything that can be benefited from a graphic core). With surface, you will almost certainly struggle with most of these things. But Z13 is really bad at two categories: 1) weight: easily the weight of two surface pros, heavier than XPS13; you also will need to bring the charger with you the whole time. The weight difference is quite notable. I never noticed my surface pro or XPS 13 in my back pack., but with Z13 and the charger and daily stuff, my backpack will be a bit of burden if I carry it the whole day. 2) battery life: I almost think ASUS is false advertising on this, with the lowest possible settings and dimmest screen, I only get 3-3.5 hr video playback time. I assume it can last a little longer if you take notes in class. One quirky thing about note taking that may/may not concern you: Z13 cannot lay flat screen up bc the see through window is popping up. I think they designed it this way to allow heat dissipation from back cover. so if you take notes from laps, you will have to get used to the feeling of the popping object. if you take notes from benchtop or over textbooks, then you will have to use the kickstand. Z13 does not come with a pen, but you can buy any 30 dollar pen if you only take notes instead of drawing/graphic design. because the popping of the see-thru window, it gets scratched very easily no matter how hard you try to prevent. It also is awkward to place the device properly on a surface without type cover. I ended up use a screen protector and always lay the device screen-down... 3\ price wise: the Z13 MSRP is really absurd for 1800/1900, but luckily it discounts frequently. Also unless you really care for that little extra performance, i7/3050 is quite adequate in most scenarios (sometimes heavily discounted at other sites). If you come across a good conditioned open box, that's your best bet.

I was originally looking at the Surface Pro 8, but I stumbled upon a post mentioning this tablet and I was immediately interested to say the least. I work primarily in game design and needed something with dedicated graphics and a good processor for programming / real-time rendering and this hit the nail on the head. I could hade opted for a gaming laptop, but I wanted something portable with a touch screen for the occasional graphic design / sculpting I do as a hobbyist. Pros: - Great form factor - Build is really high quality - Cooling is decent* - Sound is great - Keyboard is really solid feeling *I have had the GPU driver crash a couple of times due to overheating under extreme tasks. Cons: - Speakers are in an awkward spot when using in tablet mode - There is a real lack of ports (2 USB-C, 1 USB) - Shared wattage on the GPU and CPU - Medium to low Battery life under normal workload Overall I am really impressed with this tablet and would recommend it for anyone interested.

I'd wanted a Microsoft Surface for a few years, but the low specs and high price always made me wary. Over all I'd say it succeeds in being a good Surface alternative. I've spoken with friends with Surfaces and they have the same gripes I have with the Z13. The gripes: Not really useable on a lap, or laying down. The nature of the flappy keyboard means that it's unstable on anything but a hard surface. Too heavy to use as a tablet unless you can rest it on something. Not many ports. Only one full USB, and two lighting usb-c ports won't support much in the way of accessories. I recommend getting a hub. Looks soooo doofy. It's got the "Republic of Gamers" branding all over. If you plan on using it as a more powerful Surface in a professional capacity be prepared to get some looks. The good: Very snappy and quick. The speed is in line with the specs, and startup is always fast. The fingerprint scanner in the power button is fairly good, but can be temperamental. Light over all. It's a very chunky and heavy tablet, but a light and compact laptop. It's better at being a laptop than a tablet, but never outright fails at being a useable handheld. Built in customizability. The ArmoryCrate application is good for controlling and customizing the way the machine runs. Overall it's a good machine, but fails to be either a good laptop or tablet. Despite it's failings I'd still recommend it to anyone who wants a two-in-one and understands the form factor's limitations.

I owned this device for roughly a week and a half. I am a power user that plays video games, works from home and make a significant chunk of income as a professional musician. This device was so close. I wanted it to replace my iPad and I really enjoyed it for the week I had it, but I ultimately had to return it for 3 major reasons. Thank you Asus for glidex. It's bomb. --------------- The first reason is this thing is always somewhat warm. It's unsettling when you walk away from a device and it has heat radiating off of it. (Its brother, the x13 doesn't have this problem) Second major reason is the aspect ratio. The reason the iPad is the best tablet on the market is that its touch experience is amazing, but apple knew that a tablet is only good for document reading when it has a 4:3 aspect ratio. The z13 is a 16:10 aspect ratio. Though it's better than 16:9, this really gimps the device for documents, and in my case sheet music. Microsoft knew this with the surface pro (4:3) and it's the best laptop/tablet hybrid on the market. The third major reason is see-through light in the back not being flush with the device. Outside of it being very gamery, the fact that the device doesn't lay flat, and it's as heavy as it is, does not bode well for the longevity of the device. I felt like that little window was going to break at any second. It will absolutely get scratched at some point. If it's going to be a tablet form factor it has to function well as a tablet. This thing crushed games. I was really impressed and having a keyboard that doesn't get hot is an added bonus. This would have been even better if the keyboard had even a little bit of wireless capability. It even performed slightly better than my old Alienware laptop with a 1070. Great for games, not so great for productivity. The x13 is superior in this size. Make this thing 14 inches with a 4:3 aspect ratio and a flat back. I'm actually surprised they made the tablet gamery and laptop business professional. The battery life needs an improvement too. I didn't get to test any thunderbolt capabilities or the xg mobile. However, that doesn't take away from the fact it's a sub optimal tablet.

Love the computer performance-wise. It's been completely reliable in transportability, durability, performance(used for gaming and large data-processing) and overall multiultility. The Achilles heel of this computer is it's battery life, you really have to make sure you fully shut if off to conserve battery and use ARMOURY so it doesn't run out in 45min. Another massive problem is the keyboard, it works great at first but it's precipitously declines in consistency after a few months, I'm going to have to replace it under warranty. Love the computer, get the keyboard attached and get it if you don't need an ultra-long battery life.

A really small and light but powerful laptop. The battery doesn't last very long and it gets hot after a while. The device's design is very cluttered, and it's filled with apps that I don't need (I'm not a gamer; I bought it for its specifications).

I know gaming laptops aren’t known for having a great battery life, but TWO HOURS for non-gaming, normal video playback and web surfing? I was constantly plugging it in and couldn’t take it anywhere, which sucks because it was insanely fast, the graphics and processor are great, and it’s small and portable. If it had a more realistic gaming battery life like 5 hours, I probably would have kept it, but I ended up returning it. It was unrealistic to have as my WFH laptop AND my gaming laptop.

I was looking for an in-between tablet and laptop. Grew up with a desktop, had laptop for college. I use an external monitor. Wanted good hardware to game or run extensive tasks (work) but the portability of something similar to the microsoft surface. didn't want to pay $3k for a surface pro or alienware laptop. found this on sale and got it for half off for holidays. great purchase. love the ability to customize everything, from performance items, to battery profiles, etc. Does great extending to my monitor and can handle gaming as well as my work if I chose to stay at home. Wish you could buy a replacement keyboard is the only downside.

This is a great gaming laptop. I can play most of my games on high or ultra. Love the feel of the keyboard and the fact that it vents out the top. I have another Asus ROG and it’s louder and hot. This is much quieter, cooler, and plenty powerful. Me, being the geek I am, am saving up for the graphics ROG XG mobile that goes with it but it’s so totally enough without it. Of course the battery life is short - but to be expected and I don’t care about that.

I was fortunate enough to get this computer when it was on sale for $900 off. So far, it has been the best computer (and certainly the best value) I've ever owned for mostly stationary purposes. My two criticisms are these: The battery life isn't great, but I knew that when I bought it. And as a tablet it is heavy, much heavier than my older 12.9" Samsung android tablet, my 2017 Surface Pro, and my Lenovo Duet. Those have smaller screens and so it is expected that the Asus will be heavier, but the relative difference is striking. I do wish it had its own HDMI port, but I purchased a USB-C to HDMI cable so that's not a problem any longer. Other than the weight of the computer as a tablet and the battery life I have no complaints.

Buyer beware-look up power issues, dead mobo

Bought this November 21st 2022. This thing was the coolest laptop I've probably ever owned. I'll get enough which I don't think this has anything to do with it just giving you a time frame of how long I've owned it January 1stish I went to go plug it in and it is no longer accepting power I have tried resetting the CMOS to no avail This is a glaring issue with these laptops I don't overuse it I don't abuse it but I do use it steadily for work and seldomly for play. Clearly I'm out of warranty and I bought this on sale for $1,500 but now it's basically a pretty paperweight... Upon research the only way to fix this is to get the motherboard swapped out which would cost 8 to $900 at that point I might as well just shell out for something new I guess but if I do buy something similar it will never be this The quality in the time of ownership is way too low. I have laptops that are probably 15 years old that's still run to this day without issue. 2 years out of this laptop is ridiculous for the price. As you can see in my picture the cord is plugged in yet the orange light is not on It's been plugged in for hours I've tried resetting the CMOs by holding it for 60 seconds 40 seconds with the charger in without the charger I'm afraid that the motherboard is no longer allowing the power port to supply power Tldr; bad battery life isn't the issue here The main issue is at some point it's guaranteed to fail no matter how good you are to it Great concept poor execution.

Ive had mine for about 8 months now. Its great, i expanded the memory with an SD card and i plat games with a blutooth headset and xbox controller flawlessly. The downsides are, it gets really hot, that makes me nervous but its been fine so far. But its the propriatary charger that kills it. The only way to charge is with the type c block it comes with. I can do video passthrough with the port but it will not charge and the battery life is maybe 3 hours while gaming. The worst part is that i cant even find a 120w compatable after market charger that works. And tge fact that theres litterally only one way to charge it is rediculous, i guess when the type c port craps out i have to toss it? Anyway. Its close, but wouldnt reccomend it for the price

Avid gamer and work in the gaming industry. I was hesitant to purchase the Z13 as it seemed too good to be true that Asus fit a Core i9 into a 2 lb tablet. Plus, soldered down 16GB memory and "just" an RTX 3050 Ti left me skeptical about its ability to truly handle AAA games. I figured I would need the XG Mobile 3080 to get the FPS I needed to have a solid gaming experience. Plus, I was replacing a Razer Blade 15 - 2019 version, which is made for gaming but I had significant problems with cooling to the extent that it melted the battery and eventually would no longer handle games. After over a month with the Z13, I am extremely pleased. Asus makes great stuff but this laptop is just stellar. Killer performance with the Ci9. No problems at all with 16GB of memory. The 3050 Ti performs far better than I expected - 70-100 FPS playing COD Warzone, which is fairly demanding graphically. The cooling system was a surprise. While my Razer Blade GPU and CPU were running at 90+ degrees playing Warzone, my Z13 (both CPU & GPU) stayed consistently between 60 and 70F. Try finding another laptop, let alone a tablet, with that kind of performance and ability to handle AAA titles. This is my work system as well, and handles everything I need on a daily basis plus is light and pleasant to use on flights. The only time I ever use the flip keyboard is when I'm on an airplane. The rest of the time I just pull it off and plug my gaming keyboard in. Hopefully Asus will eventually get the XG Mobile down to a more reasonable price. It costs almost as much as the laptop itself today. But, fortunately I found I don't even need it. The 3050 Ti does just fine on its own.. Congrats to Asus! This is the greatest innovation in portable gaming I've seen in a very long time..

First, let me start by saying this is one the only Windows gaming devices you can get in this form factor. There is not too much compromising. It is able to handle just as much games if not more than other "gaming" laptop/PC's. Response is great, size is perfect for travel, keyboard is better than most but not the best. Watching videos is immersive. Asus has made a dock with an external GPU to boost the gaming expeirence even further if that is something you are looking for. Everyone has their own thing they are looking for, give it a try.

Amazing performance in such a small form factor. Has worked great for gaming and game development in Unreal Engine on the go. Battery life could be better, but I'm generally working in places with accessible power. Would definitely benefit from more memory, but it's a small trade-off for the device size. This has been a limitation for multithreaded code compilations.
