This laptop went into Turb mode by itself and overheated. I could not shut it off. Had to put it in the Freezer to cool it off. Ended up taking the back off and removing the battery to turn it off. NOW (8 mo. later) it restarts by itself for no reason. I've updated to the latest drivers and BIOS. I love ASUS products so I'm VERY shocked to have this experience. I don't know if Best Buy or ASUS will give me any support.... Chat says there is a 20 min wait! Geeze!!!

      Dear 30YearTechGuy,

We do understand your concern about thermal issues.

It is normal for the laptop, with the same hardware configuration and regardless of the manufacturer, to generate more heat than normal while under heavy load especially during gaming, WINDOWS Update and antivirus scan. When system resource utilization is high, this will generate more heat than normal and tends to trigger the fan to spin at full-throttle. Please ensure the air ventilations are free from obstructions in order to have an efficient air flow for better heat dissipation. While gaming, please ensure no resource hungry applications are running in the background, this will definitely spike the temperature. The heat or temperature does decreases or normalizes once system resource utilization goes down. The system reboot may be a related to WIndows update. The system will reboot in order to apply the updates or changes to the system. Let the laptop install all updates completely.

Should you need further assistance with the product, please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com and I would be more than happy to help. Or, you are most welcome to call Product Support Hotline at: 1(888) 678-3688. Also, you can chat with an ASUS live support agent at: http://bit.ly/AsusLiveChat.

    Asus/ROG does not disappoint!

I have used Asus components for every desktop build since the late 90's. For over 20years they have always been my go to with a proven reliability. Over the last few years I have gotten away from desktops primarily due to the portability and how good portable systems have gotten over the years. Gaming oriented ROG components step up the quality albeit always a little too flashy for me. The overall design of the M16 is subdued save for the lid with the chromatic dots which color shift. My kid loves it though so I guess ROG knows the demographic they are going for. Thought the M16 isn't the thinnest or lightest laptop for a 16" but for my uses at 4.2lbs going from work to home it is manageable. ESPECIALLY since I can use a relatively compact PD USB C charger and leave the power brick at home. Also can charge via my vehicle PD charger if I need to use it in my car OR use a PD power bank in a pinch. Charging versatility is a win for me. The M16 is solidly built, with no creaks and minimal flex to the keyboard. The screen can lift smoothly with one finger without holding the body down. The keyboard is a good size for my hands with good spacing between the keys. The key travel on the nicely lit RGB keyboard is a touch shallower than I would like, but once I got used to it I was typing without issues. The only thing I miss is my num pad. But for work I will usually plug into my dock w/ all my full size perifheralsThe large glass trackpad is among the largest I have tried on a PC. It's smooth and works great. This is my standard for all future trackpads. I usually use a small mouse but I find myself using the trackpad much more often with the M16. Fingerprint scanner was an unexpected but welcome addition. You would never know it was there as the power button. I haven't had ANY issues with the fingerprint scanner as my finger reads about 95% of the time with the remaining 5% due to my error in placement or my finger is too dry. I do not miss having windows hello cameras as long as the inclusion of the fingerprint scanner is accurate. The matte screen is fantastic with minimal boarders, sharp resolution (1920x1200) @ 144hz refresh rate and 16:10 screen ratio. The screen can get roughly 510nits which is suitable to use outside. For a portable screen I think this is MORE than serviceable and regularly use it in conjunction with my other 2k/4k screen arrays at my home/work desk stations. (4K on a 16" laptop screen is a bit too small for my eyes). At the price point for this version of the M16 the 11th Gen Core i7 and RTX3050Ti graphics are good entry points for mobile gaming laptop. I can run games like RDR2, CoD and GTA V on medium to high without major slowdowns, although when I'm plugged into my larger monitors at home I will step down to medium settings and the M16 is happy to crunch away at pretty much anything I throw at it. The step up M16 with the Core i9 and more power hungry graphics would leave me to believe that I would need the dedicated charger with me ALL the time. I have already upgraded the main OS to the developer's preview of Windows 11 and have not noticed any problems with the M16. All of their software appears to be working without issue. The OS and primary programs are all on the 512GB NVMe. I threw in a 1TB m.2 NVMe into the blank bank for any games and the rest of my personal files. My previous 17" laptop was commandeered by my significant other due to work from home (side note: in this age of everything zoom meetings, the webcam is in the RIGHT place). But that was also a bear to lug around anywhere. The M16 is much more palatable load to bring back and forth to work. The balance between power and size are perfect for my uses. Build and quality are what I've come to expect from Asus.

This is a great all-around laptop. I mainly use it for my couch computer, and secondary gaming rig. The screen on it looks amazing, and the aspect ratio is very appealing. The keyboard and lighting feels high quality. I do enjoy the built in fingerprint sensor, as I find it more reliable than face recognition most of the time. Overall performance has been admirable for the price. The GPU in this laptop capable of playing just about anything, though some games it helps to turn the detail down a bit to get higher fps. With the cpu and ram on this laptop, even video editing is painless process. I recommend this computer for anyone looking for a great "do-everything" computer that needs to be mobile. It may not be the best option to play AAA titles at max graphics, but it provides a lot of punch for the size and price.

    Absolute workhorse workstation/gaming pc hybrid

Ths is alot of pc for the money, it does it all, AI, VR, Ray tracing, great for rendering CG, video, audio, images, you name a medium and itll crush it. For that price, and you're get a 30 series card, absolutely insane value. Love mine to bits, coming in off a lenovo T410 with an old I5vpro, and a 960 over a beast gdc ExpressCard graphics card dock, little custom egpu box and all, that setup served me well as a workstation for years, but this is lightyears ahead, old setup struggled to do 30-60 fps on Mirror's Edge catalyst catalyst low settings now does all hyper at 60+
