Owned for 2 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I received this charger dock on July 17th, 2023 and it did not last long, it has stop providing a charge as of September 27th, 2023. I verified it was not my Ally by trying the charger that was provided, which still works. I generally like Asus products, however this one seems to be a rushed product that does not allow you to use the Ally to it's full capability. The Ally can do Freesync, however the charger dock's HDMI cable will not allow you to use Freesync or Adaptive Sync on capable monitor or TV. It would have also been a bonus if it included multiple USB ports to allow for a keyboard and mouse if someone wanted to use wired for their gaming. I did also encounter times during the timeframe it functioned when I would have to unplug it from the wall and remove the usb c cable and then plug everything back in before it would start to charge the Ally again. You would have better luck if you used a third party dock that had display port or HDMI that allowed you to pass Freesync.

The ASUS charger is my go to, tho I do place my Ally in the JSAux, I literally only use it to hold my device. I still plug it directly into this device. It consistently gives me the ability to play on a larger monitor and still run at 30w or more in Turbo or Boost modes when plugged in. Bases like the JSAux still require you to buy a 100 w charger which will run you about the same price as the ASUS charger plus the price of it base.

First, plug a USB-C male-to-male cable between the power supply and the ROG Ally. Next, plug in an HDMI cable (that you have to own), into a display that accepts it and back into the power supply. Now you have what is essentially a nice dock for the ROG Ally when you want to make it more of a stationary thing (akin to the Nintendo Switch). Solid device. It was reasonably priced for what it does. My only wish is that it didn’t get so hot after king gaming sessions. Never too hot, just warmer than you would expect.

Def not worth it at retail price. What I do like is it does what it’s for, lets you play on the tv and monitor and its plug and play, unlike the XGmobile.

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Grabbed this A) to get the most performance out of my Gen1 Ally Extreme as possible, and 2) or B) to add keyboard and mouse functions in order to "Downgrade" to Windows 10. I'm sure I will go back to running this thing in 11, and possibly even 12 down the line. Until then, I want as close to an unencumbered gaming experience as possible. That means running Windows 10 on this thing. Little pricey, but worth it in the long run.
