Bought this one to replace an RT-AC88U where have the wired ports stopped working. I think I'm pretty much done with ASUS products at this point and can't recommend them at all. This router regularly (sometimes a couple times a day, sometimes a couple times a week) just stops working. It'll look like it's working and WiFi clients will be connected, but it won't actually be connected any more. I have this as the main router in an AI Mesh with two other ASUS routers. I'm pretty sure this router is the issue as I never had these problems with the AC88U was the main router. I know it's not just the WiFi dropping because my NAS which is plugged into the router notifies me that the ethernet connects have stopped. I know it's not just my phone and computer because my SimpliSafe hub also tells me that it's lost WiFi. It usually works again after being turned off and on again. Sometimes I have to reset the modem as well (Sonic fiber). I scheduled the router to restart itself every night which made the issue go from a daily problem to a weekly problem. I thought by now the firmware would improve enough that the issue would just go away. It hasn't and I've stayed current with every firmware upgrade. Tried getting support for ASUS (they just tell you to upgrade the firmware and then say go to BestBuy). I give up! Do not buy this router. I suggest not buying any ASUS products any more in general. I have several but I'm done now.

The first one I ordered stopped working after a month or two Of problems and ASUS replaced it. The new one has A hole new set of problems. It has to be rebooted ever day or two because it stops responding. If you change anything in the setting, even the rgb color, you have to reboot it for the changes to be made. The range is aweful even with the ASUS trios in mesh mode with a cable connected with backhaul. I have 1Gbs internet and it measures that at the modem but this router passes 1/3 of that speed through it wired and wireless is even worst. My surfboard modem has two ports and one is going to the ASUS and the other is going to a old linksys router now. Everyone in the house uses the old linksys for wireless because it’s a stable connection. I think this is the last ASUS product I’ll ever buy. If this review doesn’t make it on the site, like they sometime do, I’ll just review it and this on my YouTube channel where I have 1.8m subscribers. ASUS used to be a good respected company. Don’t know what happened to them.
