ASUS has been a favorite brand of mine for 18+ years. I have used ASUS motherboards and I currently have several monitors throughout the house (3 on my main system, including a 24" TUF monitor) and my son's ASUS ROG gaming computer with another 24" ASUS monitor and 31.5" TUF monitor used on it. It is also the monitor brand of choice I used for my clients. While my son really likes the ASUS TUF 31.5" monitor, he was looking to get an improved monitor with at least 240Hz (up from the 165Hz, but not sure why), even if it meant going a bit smaller. The ASUS - ROG Strix 27" 4K QD-OLED 240Hz is so much more than what he was looking for and was able stay within the ASUS family. Getting it set up is quick and easy. Just assemble the two stand pieces and snap it into the back of the monitor. There is also a VESA mount it comes with that snaps into the same receptacle in the back (which we will transitioning to soon). There is not much to the bezel, but more than I would have expected, especially compared to the set of new 27" ASUS monitors just purchased for a client. The main panel is not very thick, but has the main control system attached to the back that is fairly big. And this monitor is definitely no lightweight. When attached to the stand, it weighs in around 16.5 pounds (yes, I went and weighed it to verify!). And it shows to be around 11 pounds without the stand. For inputs, there are two HDMI 2.1 ports, one DisplayPort 1.4 and a USB-C port DisplayPort, which doubles as a 90W Power Delivery port. It comes with one cable for each of the import types, all in a nice little zippered storage pouch. With the USB-C, you have the potential to connect a laptop to the monitor and also charge it as long as it supports USB-C charging. I was able to successfully try this out on one of my laptops. And while it is Power Delivery, it doesn't seem to support PD charging for smart phones. I could never get my Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra (which supports PD 45W) to detect it as Super Fast Charging 2.0 with the provided cable or another charging cable, although it did activate DEV with the included cable so I could be connected to it without one of the display adapters I normally have used. There is also a USB 3.2 hub with 3 Type-A port and a Type-B port to connect to the computer (the USB 3.2 Type-B cable is also included). And on the inputs side, there is a 3.5mm headphone jack. The control buttons are on the back, just behind the bottom center logo. There is the stick in the middle to control the menu, power button to the right and cancel button to the left. While I have not used a ROG monitor before, this setup fixes the main issue I have with the TUF monitors in a multiple-monitor setup with their button layout making it difficult to access when not the far-right monitor. Press the stick as a button to bring up the main menu. The stick itself has shortcuts to certain menu function depending on which way it is moved. They can be changed, but by default: Down brings the Input selection (which is also a big improvement over the TUF monitors); Up is the GameVisual; Right is GamePlus; and Left is volume for the earphone out. Also, the left button brings up Pixel Cleaning. One plus that the monitor setup can be controlled via the DisplayWidget app (the same as our 31.5" TUF monitor), with just able every setting in the monitor menu accessible in the app Now, this is the first 4K monitor I have ever used, or even viewed. And just like being in awe of the details the first time I viewed 4K content on our 4K TVs, playing games in 4K (or even viewing some of our pictures) took me there, too! Everything was so vibrant (especially when HDR10 was enabled) and the gameplay in 4K (running at 240Hz, then when G-Sync enabled) with all display settings set to max was great with its smoothness! Now this was connected via DisplayPort to a freshly installed GeForce RTX 5060 Ti with 16GB, but with still an older CPU, but any decent GPU should handle providing the content. First, I tried a newer action-adventure game that just came out a few weeks ago and the gameplay and transition videos were perfect. Then, on a space starfighter game (that I have had some trouble with on previous monitors and GPU), everything was so smooth, I'm a little sad going back to my setup (guess it is time to upgrade mine!). The 1.5M:1 contrast ratio and 0.03ms response time are definitely helpful. While watching everything, my son is definitely in favor of losing the 4.5" of screen for an even better performing display. This monitor seems that it should be a top 4K gaming monitor in the 27" range, even with its price point (but you've heard before, "you get what you pay for…").

Item was supposed to be open box in excellent condition. It wasn't very excellent and was missing all the cables, even the power supply. Said inspected by geek squad. Guess the geek squad member was blind.

This monitor has been truly incredible. Its been a longtime coming for OLED gaming monitors and it feels like when they came, it was a rush. There are now many OLED monitors on the market and it’s starting to get crowded. However, the big brands are coming in with the best of the best tech in the space and OLED monitors are now the cream of the crop. Display and Ports: For 2025 ASUS has pushed beyond OLED. This new monitor is a QD-OLED which basically means it should be more vibrant and brighter. This monitor sports 4K 240hz at 1000 nit peak brightness with 10 bit color. That’s impressive and the specs translate into the real world. I won’t go over all the ports, they are listed on the product page, but there are plenty. The main thing is HDMI 2.1 and DP 1.4 are present, and many USB ports. The performance of the display is where this monitor is incredible. The colors, brightness, and performance have been flawless. I played lots of Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 on this monitor and my play sessions were amazing. If you’ve never gamed on an OLED before, you are going to be blown away. The jump from other display technologies to OLED is extreme. Also, if OLED/burn in concerns you, understand that OLED tech has come a long way. There is so much OLED care technology built into this monitor to prevent burn in is incredible. All of these things happen in the background and require little to no maintenance from the user. The Stand: The functionality of the stand is excellent. Obviously, you get side to side, up down, and forward/back. However, a nice added benefit is you can rotate it 90 degrees for a vertical position. I am personally a huge fan of putting monitors vertically for workflows on my WFH days, so this is great. Aesthetically, I think the stand base could use some work. It looks very “standard gamer”. I understand it’s a gaming monitor, but at this price point I was hoping for a more unique base. It comes with a wall mounting adapter which is nice, and a thread at the top of the stand for possibly a mic or camera? Overall, it’s functionally excellent. Build Quality: As is usual with ASUS, the build quality overall is usually good. The Strix product line, which this monitor is, is ASUS’ most performance focused line of products. With high performance usually comes high build quality. This monitor is no different. The plastics feel of high quality, the metals are nice, everything is exactly what you’d expect in a near $1,000 monitor.

    4K OLED OR GO HOME!!!!

So I just received my new ASUS ROG STRIX 27” 4K QD-OLED 240Hz Gaming Monitor about a week ago and have been putting it through its paces. Now having owned older ASUS gaming monitors in the past, I knew this monitor was gonna be amazing. And it did not let me down. First off, with being a leader in the world of gaming monitors, laptops as well as desktops, you can’t go wrong with pretty much anything ASUS. They have been around for quite some time and have built their reputation on quality products that consumers have come to love. Unboxing includes the following: * Asus 27” 4K QD-OLED 240Hz Gaming Monitor * DisplayPort Cable * HDMI Ultra High Speed Cable * USB 3.2 Cable * USB-C Cable * Power Cord * VESA Mount Kit * ROG Stickers (unexpected but appreciated) * Quick Start Guide Now to get started it’s quite simple, as ASUS has provided everything you need to get your new gaming monitor up and running in no time. Setup is straightforward. Simply screw the base of the monitor into the arm using the included screw. Next just slide that backplate which is connected to the arm into the slots on the back of the monitor with the little nubs to pop into place and that’s it. On that back of the monitor is all of the ports you need to connect your monitor to either your desktop or gaming console (note: monitor does not have integrated speakers or webcam). You can connect via HDMI, USB-C, or DisplayPort. There is also a headphone jack port as well as a couple of USB ports and the power adapter port. Once you have everything connected you are ready to boot up your ASUS 4K OLED monitor. Welcome to the world of color and quick response times. This thing is so amazingly beautiful that I didn’t want to peel the plastic of the screen. For testing purposes, I first connected it to my M1 MacMini which it looked amazing connected to my Mac. The only thing is all Apple limits all M1 and M2 Macs to 120Hz. Though everything else worked flawlessly while connected to my Mac, I switched it connected it to my 2 year old ASUS ROG Strix Gaming Desktop via the DisplayPort. Gameplay was superb and with no noticeable lad whatsoever. And being able to fully utilize the 240Hz was like the cherry on top. Another great feature about this monitor is that the arm/stand raises up and down and the monitor rotates as well. You simply can’t go wrong with this monitor

    Best 27" Monitor of 2025

Unboxing was straightforward. Included was well packaged Monitor, stand and Vesa Wall mount. Also, where included DP, HDMI and USBC Cables. Set up and use: Setup was easy. I removed the plastic and connected the monitor and stand together. It feels solid. Also, the thinness of the monitor is amazing for the picture quality. Use: I am just flat out impressed with everything I threw at this. I started by connecting via USBC my laptop to extend out for productivity and the monitor was just amazing to look at. The colors and brightness are on another level from my current setup. There was no lag, and the color accuracy is very close to my calibrated monitor. Next was Photo/Video Editing. Again, the colors were so diverse that I needed to sometimes drag the photo to my other screen to make sure I was still editing correctly. The monitor is excellent for this except I needed to keep in mind that this displayed in such a wide color space, and everything seems so saturated that I do not need to color correct beyond that since most users are not going to view on anything like this screen. On to Gaming: I moved over to DP and connected my Gaming laptop. I found Forza, Fortnite and Marvel Rivals to be capped by my laptop’s GPU. I have an RTX 4090 Mobile and even that I was not able to tap into the 240 FPS with 4k. This is actually a huge benefit. Not only is the screen super responsive with no lag or ghosting. I just know the next upgrade will still have room to use the speed of this display. Movies and content: I watched several Movies and Shows over the past few days, and everything looked better than my flagship OLED TV. This is a truly premium do it all monitor. The HDR is not eye burning but really good in that I was able to make out dark scenes in certain shows. In summary, I think this monitor is phenomenal. I just wish that they made larger options, and the price was cheaper but given this is the latest tech. I understand why the price is where it is at. I do also wish the display was not as glossy since there were some reflections depending on where I was sitting when viewing the screen. The fact that you can have multiple devices connected to it makes it versatile, from productivity to gaming. Also, I like how at some point soon I can Vesa mount this on the wall to free up space on my desk.

I just got this last night and after an allnighter gaming i truly believe this is the best investment in my gaming setup. I game on an xbox series x so even though i cannot take advantage of the 240hz refresh rate, 120hz and sharp crisp picture do not go to waste. Absolutely love all of my picture adjustment options as well as options for connecting to a pc or laptop. A must buy if you want to upgrade from your current monitor to OLED.

This thing is beautiful and amazing. I've tried it in three different capacities. The first is a third screen to my desktop. It didn't make a lot of sense because I don't have anything on that particular desktop but seeing how pretty the screen came in and how vivid the colors were along with websites and a few choice YouTube videos. It definitely held up. The second probably the most prominent would be my PlayStation 5. It wasn't a PlayStation 5 pro which I know would have performed way better but two have not been a pro. This thing was ridiculous in beauty and scream non-lag. I did not know my games could look this good. I invited my neighbor over in and I asked him. Does this look like a PC or a console game and he said it looked like PC. I know I have to agree. The third thing I did was hook a gaming laptop to it now didn't do as well as the PlayStation because I believe of the competing screen or the not so great HDMI cable I use but it still held up. The point being is that a monitor like this is pretty much a beautiful high performance television with gaming implications and no TV speakers. People always ask why should I spend more, this is the reason all by itself. Definitely pick this thing up, today.

This 27 inch 4k ASUS - ROG Strix 27" 4K QD-OLED gaming monitor is great for us. I use it for basic gaming with my kids who like to play roblox and minecraft. The graphics look great, the color is bold and we haven't had any issues witb glaring or having to turn the monitor to see better. For it just being used by me and my kids i think its a pretty good monitor for our needs. As far as gaming on it, we havent had any lagging issues or anything. It came with everything we needed to set it up including the mount. Setup was pretty easy and quick. The only thing I wish it had would be built in speakers but I had some on hand that i was able to connect to the monitor so that my kids could hear their games. Other than basic gaming, i have also used it to do some studying and research for my exam and my kids have used it for watching educational youtube videos & their homeschool websites...all the websites ran smoothly allowing us to get what we needed done. I also love how this monitor sits sturdy on the desk because my other one shakes anytime someone moves around it. Overall, i think this is a great monitor with great graphics for us.

As for the picture on the monitor it is meeting my expectations and the various descriptions I have read in reviews. The blacks are blacker and the colors are vivid. Wonderful crisp, detailed picture! I am not a gamer, nor have any desire to become one, I bought the monitor due to its reputation and refresh rate. I find the toggle that is needed to control various functions to be inconveniently placed, but maybe that is fine for gaming. I don't know. Overall, I am quite pleased with the purchase.
