I recently bought this laptop along with the hp omen 16 ceramic white with rtx3070 and an i7 11800h....I am keeping this laoptop and returning the HP. Though the Hp was amazing, the gpu and cpu and just to good to pass up. I recieved a unit with the serial number starting with M8 so I have had no issues to speak of. It runs everythig I throw at it and allt of stuff is maxed out. It does get hot even with a cooling pad but amd made this cdp and gpu to run at high temps. Only think I dont like is the liquid metal but they improved there application process on the newer units so hopefully it wont be an issue

Laptop is ok. There seems to be something wrong with the reader for the WIFI inside the laptop. All my devices are connecting with no issues with my internet provider. I have called many times for this and done a lot of troubleshooting. I was told its the reader because this laptop disconnects from the WIFI when it wants, and I have to restart it all the time to see if it connects to the WIFI again, which is frustrating. I got this item open box and am wondering if that was the reason why it was open box from Best Buy I wish I had never bought it.

The laptop surprised me a lot. I thought the build quality was great, keyboard felt nice to type on, and the screen panel was pretty nice. The touchpad is really nice to use and the speakers are actually good for a gaming laptop. If there are some complaints I have..
1) It runs pretty hot. I was hitting around 95C in games on the CPU. GPU temps seem fine in the 80s.
2) It's pretty annoying to open up if you want to replace parts. There's a lot of clips and the RGB ribbons to be careful with.
But for the price, performance, and build quality I think this is a great laptop if you don't want to pay Intel or Nvidia tax.

Have you ever tried something in it’s beta stage of development? That’s what my brief time was like using this laptop. I only play one game which is Fortnite, and even with newer drivers, optimizations, and anything else I could try, I would consistently have frame drops and varying input delay. Watching the CPU, GPU, and AGPU all fight for frequencies and power delivery will make any sane person lose their mind. The critical flaw with this laptop is when using the 300MHz built in display, all of the graphics are being piped through the processor. This essentially means you will have input delay and inconsistent frame rates depending on which graphics unit decides to do the work. When playing with high frame rates, you will absolutely be bottlenecked by the processor as it fights to do it’s own work and also feed through the video signal. Expect thermal throttling, frame-rate drops, and other glitches when playing eSports titles that require high frames and low input lag with the built in monitor. Some, but likely not all of the issues could be resolved by utilizing the USB-C port connected to an external monitor. But for the specs of this device, there really is no reason it shouldn’t be able to run Fortnite on low settings with high frame rates. Aside from that one major issue and the reason I ultimately returned it, the system was fast with good build quality and many redeeming features, but unfortunately I could not look past the fact I couldn’t enjoy playing the one game I wanted to play.

Great Laptop, but I do have some complaints, the highest brightness for this screen is not bright enough for me, it took me some time to adjust to it, for comparison its not brighter than my iPhone. Also the speakers are not great, at about 70% it starts to sound muffled. This is my first laptop and I have no other comparison for battery life for laptops but I would think it would last longer than this because it dies FAST. You will have to upgrade storage immediately because 500gb is not enough. I also upgraded my ram for better performance. Personally for the on sale price and the way the laptop performs for games that I play, I don't think theirs a better laptop on the market at the moment.

Great Gaming/Office Laptop

Currently using this laptop as a gaming/office pc for when I'm traveling for work and still want to get some gaming in during my free time. Not only does the ASUS - ROG Strix G15 Advantage Edition meet my needs, but I have to say that it actually exceeded my expectations as a gaming laptop.
The build quality is impressive. It arrived all nice and snug in it's box, which was undamaged (big ups to my local postman). While removing everything from the box I noticed it came with 2 extra swappable accent trims, which made me happy because I really wasn't feeling the red one that was already installed. The translucent one looks WAY better to me. Machine has a nice weight to it. Not too heavy but not a feather weight like some of these PCs are now. Feels pretty durable. It's not made of metal but still has that solid feel.
The screen quality is amazing. I've had HDTVs that haven't looked this good. The colors on this thing are beautiful making every background come to life. My only complaint about the screen is I wish it was bigger!
If you're a fan of a light show, go no further. The ASUS - ROG Strix G15 Advantage Edition has what you're looking for. The RGB on this thing is nice. Not only is the whole keyboard done, but around the rim of the casing is lit up as well. Still playing with the settings to get a color scheme that I really like.
The initial setup was straightforward and pretty typical to other machines I've setup. After all of the Asus stuff completed, I started the painful task of getting Windows Update happy with itself. Just a lot of downloading, installing and restarting. Once that was done, I began loading software.
As for an office computer, it's complete overkill: 16GB of RAM, which is upgradable (nice touch as some laptops are know to solder the RAM), 512GB SSD (also upgradable) and the AMD Ryzen 9-5900HX perfect for gaming or checking my Outlook calendar. The specs are far better than any PC I use while in the office. Then again, I just use those so I can remote to my servers and really get to work. Loaded it with a few things: MS Office, Adobe Acrobat Pro, iTunes(need my music) and a few other things and it's the best office laptop ever.
Now for the gaming, I currently split my PC gaming between a Alienware M17 gaming laptop and my big rig is a HP Omen 880-xxx desktop with all the fixings. Both of which have served me well. This was my first ASUS gaming laptop and to be honest, I really didn't know what to expect. I've heard mixed reviews, but that's with anything nowadays.
Currently running FFXIV and I have to say, everything looks gorgeous. The game ran smoothly without any stuttering. Load times were lightening fast. Rendering was perfect. It just didn't feel like I was playing on a 15.6 inch laptop. I was thoroughly impressed with the gameplay. Connected my DS4 controller to give the game that familiar PlayStation feel and it operated beautifully. When I say, "I'd recommend this to a friend" I mean I actually let a friend (more like a brother) play on it for a few days (we both play FFXIV) and now he doesn't want to play on his laptop anymore. He noticed that much of a difference.
As far as sound is concerned, nothing spectacular but not a disappointment either. The speakers on this laptop serve their purpose. While gaming and watching videos, primarily on YouTube, I was able to enjoy uninterrupted sound that, as far as my ears are concerned, was what I would expect from laptop speakers.
Haven't had the chance to really test the battery life yet. The longest this thing has been unplugged is when it's shut down and not being used. I prefer running off the cord when possible and lately all times have been possible.
One of the biggest questions about gaming laptops, the cooling. I can report that this machine does a good job at that. Temps on the CPU and GPU stayed around 80ish and the unit itself never felt like it was getting too warm. I usually use a laptop cooler, force of habit, even when I don't require it. I figure the more air moving around, the better. I will admit, I played the first few days without it and felt that I really didn't need it, so that was nice.
My only complaint and although it's not a deal breaker, it is an inconvenience - No webcam. Usually, I wouldn't care, but since I use it for work stuff, I'm unable to do video calls, which apparently everyone loves now. If I didn't use this machine for work, I wouldn't care one bit. Nothing that Logitech can't fix for me.
Overall, I'm impressed with ASUS - ROG Strix G15 Advantage Edition. If you're looking for a gaming laptop and don't want to break the bank, ASUS has something for you.

Best boom for your currency. Pumps out more frames than a carpenter on 35 hours worth of a generic energy drink named for the allotted time it delivers energy after consumption. Lost a star because Asus lost the ability to put premium ram in the g15 advantage series. They should start a trade in program to get this cheap ram off the streets. Doesn't have a multiplexer but if you had to look that up it you won't notice. It's a certified dime of a gaming PC and would recommend at it's price point.

This laptop was a nice suprise. I decided to take a chance on an all AMD machine and im not sad. The performance out of the box is great and the thermals are great too. If you look at independent reviews you may find that the memory is not so great and it can hold back your cpu performance. I have ordered a 32gb kit to replace the 16gb kit that comes installed. Overall the display is nice and the build quality is better than expected. Would recomend 100%

You will be hard pressed to find a better performing gaming laptop at this price point. The 5900HX is a solid CPU and the integrated graphics handle general browsing no problem. The 6800M is an amazing GPU.
The GPU is actually overkill for a 1080p monitor. I would invest in the 1440p model.
The RAM that comes with this laptop is subpar, I would recommend installing some crucial sodimms when you buy this.
There is no MAC switch; essentially GPU workloads HAVE TO go through the integrated graphics first before it reaching the dedicated 6800M GPU; this makes benchmarking a little wonky. A work around for this, if you have a decent monitor is to plug the HDMI cable in the back, this goes straight to the GPU.

This is a nice fast laptop and could probably benefit from a little more RAM with better timings but for the price and most people this is fast enough. I recently had the video card go out on this which was the whole reason I bought this unit. Best buy geek squad was great and got the unit replaced for me without issue. If you do buy this unit to game I would recommend buying a 32GB RAM set and add an second larger Nvme ssd. Also I will now recommend a cooling pad to go under this unit. This thing kicks out the heat and I suspect that’s why the video card failed.

Overall the performance for this laptop was really good, but I ended up returning it for a few reasons. One was the random crashes I was getting in certain games upon start up. The reason I know it was random was because it would fail the first two times but succeed on the third with no extra effort or task on my part. I can only assume this is somehow driver related. It wasn’t very often, but it was enough to be annoying. I could’ve forgiven this and given the drivers time to mature if it wasn’t for the next two points.
Secondly this laptop gets HOT. The GPU actually maintained really reasonable temperatures, but the CPU temps were constantly above 85-90 Celsius even under modest gaming loads. I wanted a laptop to game in bed or on the couch, and utilize steam cloud saves if I was too tired or my back was hurting from work. But this laptop was far too uncomfortable to allow it to sit on my lap for any period of time. I did get a cooling pad for it, but the noise and bulk wasn’t worth it.
Finally, I was disappointed with the 15.6” screen size. The last gaming laptop I owned was from 2015 and it was a 17.3” screen with a full numpad. I was convinced I would never go smaller, but the price of this made me pull the trigger. I thought I could adjust but I didn’t. It was just too small for me to type on or use comfortably.
I didn’t make the decision to return this lightly because I immediately upgraded the storage and RAM in this to 2TB SSD and 32GB of dual rank memory to overcome the shortcomings of this laptop. All the aforementioned issues ultimately pushed me over the edge and I took it apart again and undid my upgrades.
These are mostly personal preference issues with this laptop. It does over amazing price to performance, and if 15.6” is a good size for you and you don’t plan to use this laptop on your lap, then by all means go for it.

Bought this computer to take on the road to play online in the evenings. Good size and weight for the way I travel, mostly by car. The computer itself is very fast, easy to use with mouse and keyboard. But, of course, only as good as the local WiFi. No built in camera or mic so need one (I already had it) for Zoom calls. I like the feel of the keys, not mechanical but firm enough for my style. The Ryzen 9 5900H and Radeon 6800M is an excellent pair. Plus, got this at a really good price at Best Buy. I am a satisfied customer with this purchase.

I thought it was risky investing in an all AMD build on an early product of theirs but it has worked fine so far. At the price its unmatched but it has been a bit fidgety on me however I was just not used to the ASUS software. Good product and performs good for the price.
