Random windows restarts ruined it.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I owned this laptop for about a month and I've returned it to get a different laptop. Why? Because of random restarting issues. It's very annoying to be in a game then for the screen to go black and the system to be restarting. Doing something simple like opening a new tab can randomly tigger a restart as well. Couldn't fix it for the life of me so I returned it. Honestly, if you get lucky and get this laptop without experiencing any issues then it's a great deal. The graphic card sits between a 3070 and 3080 and games run great when it works. The screen isn't color accurate so if you do any content creation, then it's a hard pass. I tried calibrating the screen but the colors still didn't look right. This laptop also runs a bit hot internally. It's warm to the touch on the top of the keyboard but under load can reach temp up to 93 celsius for the cpu and 86 celsius for the gpu. My laptop did at least. If it wasn't a gamble to get a working version of this laptop then I'd recommend it to everyone but seeing how the issues seem to be pretty common, from what I've seen online, then it's not getting my recommendation. If you want to try your lucky you might hit gold or you may need to return it and see if you strike gold on your second go.

Still Running Great!
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I bought this I was well aware of issues others had, but it punched above it's weight and I my last PC was 11 years old, so I figured it was worth the risk. I ran every test and stressor recommended for new laptops and it passed. I was fortunate. 3 months later it still runs great with no issues and I can play games again!

You won’t regret this…
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This would be five stars if not for the ram latency being so high. Ram aside this is a great little laptop for gaming. I would have zero issues recommending this to anyone looking for a gaming laptop. Also I liked that this laptop didn’t have a built in camera. Wish more companies went this route. I personally upgraded the drive for a bit more space and replaced the memory with something with lower latency.

||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great machine! Im surprised at how much performance can be packed unto a such a small form factor these days. Great shipping speed and great price from Best Buy. Great laptop from ASUS. Performance is between 3070 and 3080 laptops with comparable TGP.

Best deal out there for a high end gaming laptop
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First thing I checked while grabbing the box was to make sure it was not M5, good thing it's M8 S/N and works like a charm, no overheating no GPU issues from heavy gaming to light extensive use. It's perfect. Regular use the battery lasts forever, even when you limit charge to 80%.

What a slap in the face.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Absolute garbage product. I have ordered three of these, and not a single one has lasted more than 4 hours of use. The first one had a faulty graphics card out of the box and would only run off of the CPU. The second one would not detect the graphics card at all. and the third one worked great for about 4 hours, locked up and now will not even respond to the charging brick being plugged in. Contacted Asus and they notify me that it is a hardware failure. I feel like I am a beta tester for their product, but without any compensation. I ordered accessories such as RAM and SSD because ASUS promised that they sell quality products. Now I am out near a thousand $$$ in time, travel, and accessories that I cannot install into a working laptop, and cannot return.

Good hardware, Mediocre software
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop, when upgraded, can easily trade blows with laptops that cost $400-$600 more post upgrades cost. Even at stock spec (16GB Samsung 1Rx16 kit in my case) I would say most people would be amazed at an all AMD laptop can do! That being said, if you intend to use the GPU for ANY critical rendering, steer clear of this model. It has a ~50:50 chance of randomly rebooting about 2-3 minutes after leaving a heavy GPU load. I suspect this has something to do with SmartShift cutting power to the GPU before it has a chance to ramp down to it's power saving mode, but I can't say for sure. In an attempt to track down the cause, I have: -Swapped the included NIC/SSD/RAM (intel AX210/Sk-hynix/klevv 32GB kit, no difference) -Replaced the liquid metal with non-conductive thermal paste (no effect) -Flashed the Vbios on the 6800m via bootable linux ISO (this one DID help overall stability of the GPU driver stack) -Installed drivers direct from AMD for graphics and chipset (less crashes with updated vbios, otherwise minimal effect) -Upgraded to windows 11 (no difference after CPU patches from amd/microsoft) and none of these have fully fixed the problem, though the Vbios flash did help abit. The bundle of preinstalled Asus applications I have yet to have major issues with, and there wasn't much else in terms of software bloat. Moving on to game performance/display, while few games will ever fully take advantage of the full 300Hz, most normally rasterized games will sit above the 60hz minimum for freesync support if tweaked properly. Raytracing CAN be done, but isn't enjoyable to play at sub 30 framerates and can lead to the post heavy gpu usage crashes mentioned earlier. As for VR support, the USBC port is wired directly to the 6800m, thus is where I plugged in my set into. I didn't really notice anything out of the ordinary here. The HDMI port is wired to the integrated graphics: good for on the go, not so much if the full performance of the dedicated 6800m is what you're after. In closing, the hardware of this laptop is more than capable of representing AMD's Advantage program. The software/drivers, however, are not adequate for heavy use cases and needs alot of user input to get close to being stable, which should not be the case in a laptop.

Great PC
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Hands down the best computer for the value. It is said to have the same performance between a 3070 and 3080. My temps would reach into the 90s until I googled how to disable the turbo boost. Now my PC never goes over the 70s

Amazing laptop when it works.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop is amazing when it works. It was working fine for about 10 days but then started getting either sudden crazy lag spikes or total system freeze while using the system under load. I tried a clean install but the problem appeared again pretty quickly. I don’t know if this is due to the liquid metal issue others have talked about. I didn’t open the machine. I tried every troubleshooting step I could think of, ended up returning it. I would definitely consider buying this again if the issues get worked out because the performance is very very good.
