    The device is pretty good, but it I have found enough things to make me return it. Randomly it would restart for no apparent reason, this is really annoying as I don't understand why it happens, and there seem to be a lot of people in the same position that I am with this particular laptop.

    All of the people downvoting the reviews that claimed their dedicated graphics card (the 6800m chip) are or were DOA is hilarious. Take those reviews seriously. My dGPU died after 4 days of light use. Will not buy another ASUS laptop again. Shame too, was impressive while it worked. This just goes to show that the emphasis for companies is how soon they can get a product out on the shelves, with no emphasis on how well they can make the product. Surprised one of those companies is ASUS. Heard too many good things about them to guess they would be cutting corners.

    A very nice gaming laptop , can handle all titles in nice fps and still be at nice tempratures , which do not go more than 90 . Ps: Not the best software from amd if we compare it to nvidia , which offers many more features .

    This thing has awesome specs, but I had to return due to it freezing and restarting. It was frustrating since this thing was priced perfectly for everything it offers.

    The performance was amazing...when it worked. I had the laptop for 4 days and loved it. Unfortunately, the 6800m stopped functioning properly, which tanked performance. I returned the laptop to Best Buy for a full refund.

    ASUS and AMD GPU should never be used together!

    So I purchased this laptop as an open box item and I really should have known better. First, whenever you hear ASUS and AMD GPU in the same sentence, you should probably run and don't look back. For some reason, they have a history of high failure rates whenever they try to use an AMD GPU. This has happened with Desktop GPUs as well as Laptop GPUs. Disabling Armoury Crate in the BIOS, stopped this from happening... but it also stopped the GPU from even trying to switch from the internal to the discrete. However, that's not the thing that disturbs me the most about this laptop! The thing I find most disturbing is that Best Buy took this back, factory reset it, never bothered to see if the issue with the GPU being faulty was real! Well, I purchased it, and tried to troubleshoot it all afternoon! With the GPU, you get error 43 stating that Windows disabled the 6800M because the device reported an issue. What I found was that you could disable the device and enable it again, but once you tried to play a game or reboot the machine, Windows would disable it again. I tried cleaning the system, getting updated drivers and even checked for a BIOS Upgrade (Oddly enough Asus only had 3.03 on their website, but the laptop had 3.09 installed). Anyway, I returned the thing and picked up the G401QY with a 3060 Installed instead. Everything else about this laptop was pretty awesome and man did that CPU fly! The screen was a bit dark, but at 300Hz refresh, it's a hard screen to beat for gaming. However, I have to say avoid this unit as it currently has about a 30% Failure rate thanks to whatever Asus did with that GPU. So wait until they either fix this issue, or just avoid it all together.

      We do understand your concern about the AMD GPU and the Nvidia graphics controller auto switching back to the integrated graphics.



      This is normal for the system to default to the integrated graphics during idle mode or when system utilization is low. The AMD GPU works properly with various ASUS product build. To change the graphics controller from the integrated graphics to the discreet Nvidia GPU manually, right-click anywhere from the desktop and go inside the Nvidia Control Panel or you can find Nvidia icon from the Notification bar from the Taskbar. Select "Manage 3D Settings" from" 3D Settings", click the "Program" tab and select the program you want to use the graphics card from the drop down menu. From the "preferred graphics processor", select "High-performance graphics processor.

    Dodged a bullet with the liquid metal, but...

    So I actually had none of the aforementioned issues with the laptop that people have previously mentioned. My issues was with the trackpad being loose. If you were to lightly tap the trackpad on the bottom, it would make a rattling noise. This is a disappointment because I feel like I dodged a bullet only to find a trackpad being loose-ish. It even causes it to become unresponsive at times where it will lag out for a few seconds and then come back. I'm giving it 2 stars because I got away with decent liquid metal application and good benchmarks, at least. I had high hopes for this laptop. Guess the search continues.

    Stopped working

    Computer has worked great for gaming. But just stopped working. Won't turn on. Bought a new brick in case it was the charging port - still not working. Hoping to get fixed asap. But only had it since April.

    Open Box beware

    So bought this as an open box as that was all that was available. It worked beautifully for the first 26 days and then after an hour of gaming the unit crashed and rebooted but the GPU was disabled and the unit was only on the Vega 8 integrated graphics. I went in to the device manager and it showed a problem with the GPU and error code 43. After attempting a rollback of the drivers and several other troubleshooting attempts the only remedy was to let the unit cool down shut off for a few hours and then the GPU would be back to normal until it heated up again and then the same failure would occur. Took it back to Best Buy and they let me exchange it for a new gaming laptop of another model. Must have been a thermal failure and the geek squad guy told me due to the shortage of gaming laptops a lot of the open box machines are failing as nobody is returning them unless they have issues. Buy at your own risk

    I liked everything that this laptop has to offer. It's "flashy" but you can turn off those ufo lights whenever. What gave it five stars is that when I had trouble with the discrete graphics Best Buy really came through and it's working fantastically. Great experience. Super laptop.
