Great laptop for light gaming.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this for gaming while I travel, and also to use it as a daily driver. So far, it has performed considerably well for it's price. I would gladly recommend this for anyone trying to stay within a budget and still play current or old games at low-ish settings @120 hz ...

Great computer for compact gaming
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had this laptop for nearly a month and have had zero issues with it at all. The only thing to consider is with all that is packed under the hood the fan does run quite LOUD. It is worth it to buy a decent headset to block out the noise and to keep anyone you are talking to from getting an ear full of feedback from the back ground noise.

Perfect Gaming Laptop
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am always skeptical of products pre-built that you buy in the store but this laptop was quite the opposite. I use this mainly as an art computer but I have gotten into pc gaming since I work many hours and can't always use my consoles for gaming. I have had no issues with lag on gaming and the speed of opening applications and getting online to different website has been perfect. So if you are looking for a good pre-built gaming laptop that is not going to break the budget as some of them do choose this ASUS gaming laptop. You will not be disappointed. The only suggestion I have which is not a laptop problem but it is making sure Windows 10 is always updated.

Excellent for the money
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great value and I bought this as it was being replaced by a newer product. I actually didn't buy this to game - I wanted a more performance oriented laptop and this was the least expensive product that met my specifications at the time. I have had this laptop now for over a year and don't regret the purchase at all. Somewhere around 6 months ago, a windows update had caused the wired networking to really slow down but this was not the fault of the computer and a subsequent update returned it to its fast self again. I have been an Asus buyer for many years and this ROG is just as good.

Compromised performance for efficiency
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop has solid build quality with minimal screen and keyboard flexing and no chassis flex. It's light for its size (at 4.6 lb.) and it has slightly smaller footprint than a typical 15" laptop. The speaker is loud and has balanced acoustics at 50% but can sound tinny at higher volumes. The matte screen with minimal bezel is great feature although brightness and color accuracy is average. Upon installing Passmark to benchmark its performance against another Asus G531GT, I was slightly disappointed at the GPU performance of the GTX 1660Ti Max-Q getting around 7900 3D score. I see that's the trade-off they have to make for having a slimmer chassis. The other Asus with non Max-Q GTX 1650 (lower class) got a slightly better 8400 3D score. However, I am impressed by the thermals of this laptop despite having thinner chassis. Both Asus I'm testing can get loud (not whiny, just a strong breeze) when under stressed but this edges out at idle fan noise having more efficient Ryzen 7 that the Intel i7 on the other. If raw performance is what you're looking for, I don't recommend this model. But it's definitely well suited for people who want a more capable laptop while on the go.

good
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.good laptop , multi tasking is super simple with this pc. However I think Asus needs to work with the quality of the mouse as gets weird at times and wont move. you end up with a adaptated mouse. the other thing I didn't like is so sdcard reader and no cam. if you don't mind those, and you have external mouse this is a great option

Good power & battery. Poor screen, WiFi & software
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop packs a surprising amount of punch in a slim, not overtly "gamery" form factor. With reasonable graphics settings, I could get well over 60 fps in all but the most demanding titles while also achieving 5 hours of battery life. The keyboard is one of the best I've ever used in a laptop; quiet yet tactile, an absolute pleasure for typing or gaming. The 120 Hz screen is responsive, but the colors are very washed out. Even with a lot of manual adjustment through the Intel control panel, I couldn't get it to a point where I was satisfied. The stock wireless card is absolutely dreadful. Fortunately, replacing it is neither difficult nor terribly expensive. What you can't change is the awful Asus Armoury Crate software. Most functions are either broken or don't work at all. Regular updates do absolutely nothing. It's enough for me to be a deal-breaker.

Really want to like this, but 2 awful bugs
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When the worktop works as advertised its great, snappy, decent display, multitasks and runs games at respectable settings all in a thin form factor. And I only payed $900 usd for it on sale which was great. However... About 50% of the time when opening the laptop i will get no response whatsoever from the keyboard, trackpad, or my mouse. It will let me sign in, but after I hit the windows screen nothing happens. I was told on a forum to disable asus fastboot in the bios, which I did, and that seems to have helped actually getting to the login screen, but after that, nothing. I need to reset the pc 1-3 times to undo the issue. Very annoying when trying to access something quickly like my work email. The other thing that has been very strange is the CPU frequncy. It seems to happen totally randomly, and worse in some games than others, (after about 10 minutes in csgo and after about an hour in fallout 4), the CPU will throttle itself from 3.4 GHz or so, to .4 GHz ! I assume this is some sort of heat protection, but even looong after the game has been closed and the system cools back down to 35-40C, the low clock speeds remain, making the whole system sluggish and unusable. I have tweaked all of my setting in Nvidia control panel to prioritize high performance and all of this is done while plugged in. Very annoying, dont know why the CPU is doing this.

Posted .Dear Collin,
Thank you for your in depth review, we always appreciate hearing back from our customers. I'm sorry to hear that you have been experiencing issues booting into Windows and have also dealt with CPU throttling, please accept my apologies. I would recommend backing up all your data, and then updating your BIOS and resetting Windows 10. A guide on how to reset Windows 10 can be found here https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4026528/windows-10-reset-or-reinstall, and a guide for flashing your BIOS can be found here https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1008859/. The BIOS download link itself can be found here https://www.asus.com/Laptops/ROG-Zephyrus-G-GA502/HelpDesk_Download/.
Regarding your CPU overheating and throttling issue, please try adjusting your fan speed either with the dedicated fan button controller on your keyboard, or via the Armoury Crate software. A guide on how to do that can be found here. https://www.asus.com/us/support/FAQ/1037690/ If after following both of those steps your computer is still experiencing boot or CPU issues, please reach out to me at cl-lane@asus.com for further troubleshooting help. Thank you for choosing ASUS!

Great improvement!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought my ROG Zephyrus G GA502 to replace a ROG laptop from 2003. This laptop is lighter, faster and a better gaming platform from my previous laptop. I play WOW and other high end games.

Very thin and great for vehicular use.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this laptop to use in my vehicle tracking delivery work and such and to allow using MS Office products and some video games during down times or at home. It has met all of my needs and exceeded my expectations. I am pleased and would gladly recommend this laptop to anyone that has a need for mobile office work and even most gaming. If there was to be a drawback it might be the hard drive size if someone wanted to store a lot of information on this device. Since I store all my files on thumb drives to move from my mobile to my main PC, the hard drive easily meets my needs and stores a good number of games as well.

Nice but Simple
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The ROG was a nice little gaming rig, but it lacks a lot of features like a webcam. If you are strictly using for gaming and internet use, this is a good deal. If you want to do other things, like streaming and skype/facetime chatting and streaming, spend a bit more and go for the ASUS TUF.

Great Notebook for Gaming
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I chose this laptop for the price to performance ratio. It’s less than $1000 and has a great graphics card and it runs very smooth. When you want to crank the performance for gaming, the fan will get a little loud, but it does not skip a beat. It’s not a pro gamers choice I’m sure, however it does very well on some of the most popular shooters out today. Counter Strike Global Offensive runs very smooth, much better than I had previously. Call of Duty Warzone is epic and this will run it on some off the settings on high, I turned a lot of it to medium and it is consistently excellent. Great purchase!

Gift for my daughter.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. She loves the speed and resolution of this laptop. Super smooth for video editing. She just told me it doesn't have a camera, usually not important however she had a web interview today and the interview panel couldn't see her. Only in today's world would this be a bad thing.

Pretty powerful little laptop!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a main pc build at home but im not of state traveling for work. Miss playing pc games and wanted something to make out 1080p gaming. I am no disappointed. Have this hooked to a 39'' 1080p tv and its amazing. Fast, runs games maxed and no overheating issues even with the fan pad. I have not owned a laptop since original Xbox so i was skeptical. They have come a long way! Got it when it was on sale for around $1080ish

Rift S VR gaming laptop for under $1000!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I was fortunate enough to get this laptop during a sale where it was $900, and I had actually answered a few questions on this product earlier saying it wasn't Rift S compatible, until I tried one last-ditch effort which made it work. I went into device manager, disabled the "RX Vega 10 Graphics" under Display adapters, and then my Rift S finally worked with the USB-C to DisplayPort adapter. After I got it working, I enabled the vega 10 graphics again and the rift still worked. Now this laptop isn't going to max every game out there, but consider the value of the laptop as a whole. It's one of very few (if there are even any others) laptops that can support the Oculus Rift S for under $1000 (when on sale). It can handle a lot of games on low-to-medium pretty well, with averaging 50-60 fps on higher settings for other games. This laptop will definitely get hot and toasty when it's working on tougher games, but that's to be expected. Also keep in mind this thing runs pretty dang fast thanks to a 500Gb NVMe SSD as well as it's surprisingly both thin and light, at under 5 lbs. It looks good, the keyboard feels absolutely amazing for a laptop keyboard, and the included ROG software actually doesn't suck as it allows you to very easily change between silent and performance modes. Finally, if you're looking for a cheap VR laptop like me, let me say this. I just finished SEVERAL hours of constant Beat Saber gameplay until my all my limbs wanted to fall off, and not a moment of lag. I did notice visual artifacts when using the desktop view from inside Oculus Home, but that's fair and very minor. Everything else ran really well, and keep in mind, I chose to keep it plugged in and sat it on something to allow it to vent easily. I'm fully satisfied I bought this laptop. :)

Great Laptop, Little Storage
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop is great for a wide-array of games on the highest settings, from military-sims such as Arma 3 to open-world games such as Grand Theft Auto 5 and The Elder Scrolls Online. But there is a limit on how many games you can have, unless you buy another SSD.

Great daily driver, runs hot.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great daily driver. My only issue is that if you are playing anything demanding with performance power mode enabled, it runs dangerously hot. If you play with it plugged in, it runs dangerously hot. With that being said, play unplugged, maybe on power saver, runs great fine temps.
