Slim and light, but powerful.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a nice laptop if you want to game, and do homework and watch videos. The battery life is great. The Ryzen cpu is very efficient, so you get good battery life. There's an extra m.2 slot for storage expansion. The 1660ti max q still pumps out the frame rates on this thing so at this price there's nothing to complain about when you're close to 1070 performance. The plastic bottom half isn't ideal but that's a compromise for the price. Aesthetically it looks just like the $2300 model until you open it. Other than that the screen is not great. It's not very bright and the color isn't great. It's fine for gaming, especially with it being 120hz. I have no problem with it but it could be allot better. Could be a game breaker for some.

Great buy for a mobile gamer on a budget
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'd say if you can get this on sale when it's under 1k then it's a great buy for anyone who wants a pretty decent spec PC on the go. As for gaming. It could run any modern triple A game with decent frame rates, average around 60. With some tweaks on Nvidias control panel it could reach over 100fps. Battery life is great if you're not gaming, about 7hrs. Looks great & thin enough to carry.

Would buy this again!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Reviews on YouTube were accurate. I’m enjoying this laptop so far, and i strongly believe that you get the value of your money. It’s definitely an entry level gaming laptop, but it looks and feels premium. It also manages to run my favorite games in Ultra settings at ease, Overwatch and Witcher 3, 80-100fps and 53-57fps respectively. I highly recommend this product to gamers that are on budget. I think it’s one of the best laptop that you’ll find at this price range. Peace!

Dynamite in a Small Package
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When a computer is designed for video production or gaming, it has to have some serious hardware, and needs to be tuned for the tasks at hand. The Zephyrus GA502DU does not disappoint. Perhaps I'm not that familiar with the latest setups, but a laptop with TWO (selectable!) GPUs is impressive to me. Mate these with AMD's Ryzen 7, 16GB of RAM, and an SSD, and performance is what you get. I especially like how this "engine" is tunable with a nice interface, and unlike most Windows system-level adjustments (historically), does not require a reboot. It's also handy that the tuning interface can be accessed with a single key press. Like most things, all that performance comes with a price. The fans are noisy compared to my previous laptop-tablet "convertible" model, but this one was certainly not designed to be low-power, low-heat, etc. Performance generates heat, and that usually means that fans need to circulate air, but compared to older standard laptops, I really can't complain. The power supply is an average size, and oddly enough hasn't gotten very warm, but it still sucks far more power than my previous laptop. Fan settings can be set in the performance tuning screen, or cycled through from the keyboard. It has one of the new USB-C ports. I can appreciate the technology (I'm told it's super fast), but I don't have any devices that use it, so I will probably just use a converter cable. Built-in Bluetooth seems to be standard PC fare, which is handy, since there are so many high-end wireless headsets available. Nice for gaming. The backlit keyboard is nice, especially if you work in very low light. The brightness is adjustable from the keyboard, and can be turned off. (good if you are watching a video) I only have a few criticisms. First, the drive is only 500MB, where I expected any performance-oriented system to be equipped with 1 TB. Second, there's no webcam. Fortunately, I don't have any real uses for one, but a lot of gamers do, so I was surprised that one was not included. Finally, I like having a numeric keypad off to the right, and I think they could have squeezed one in. This wasn't a deal-breaker for me, as I use a full size wireless model. This is a mid-range gaming unit, so I expected it to have all the standard features. The three points above are the only reason I didn't give it five stars. This is by far the most expensive laptop I've ever owned, but it's worth it.

Awesome laptop, mediocre screen
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For the price is great, slim, good power, easy to upgrade. Speaker are really good if you’re ok for then to be at the bottom. The design is minimalist and I love it. Clean, black, the ROG glow logo at the lid looks great. The feeling of the computer it’s not that great, it feels plastic, but it’s a great plastic feel. GTX1660 ti is powerful. I ran Doom eternal on high settings and I got 60fps...but those fans, they’re really loud, like 747 jet engine. And almost immediately hit 85 degrees CPU. Maybe some tweaks and a good pair of headphones and good to go. The screen...well, it’s a screen, it has 120hz as advertised but my friend, it’s a really bad screen. Low brightness, washed colors. It’s depressing and the reason why I returned this laptop. If you can deal with the screen you will love this machine and it’s a great deal and highly East to recommend .

4.2 A couple minor issues
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Main issue I had with the performance profiles the laptop would automatically switch to when it's plugged in or unplugged. It would switch to silent mode when unplugged and most of the time go back to performance mode when plugged back in. This laptop gets hot on your lap in performance mode. It's best to connect the laptop to other bigger displays to avoid the heat. I've also had 2 times the system restarted because of the profile switch during an unplug. Wasn't happy with that but patched the driver and a couple other things and that hasn't happened again for a week or so now. Great for gaming with an excellent internet connection, especially with fiber options.

Excellent for casual and beginning gamers!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The combination of AMD Ryzen and Nvidia Geforce come together to create a perfect blend of power, graphics, and affordability all in one thin and light package! The matte coated screen gives off very little reflection with the screen off and no reflection with brighter items on screen. The chassis does show fingerprints fairly easily, not too noticeable but they'll accumulate, this is easily solved by wiping with a dry microfiber cloth. Overall built is very solid for as light as it is, the top lid of the screen is metal and almost no screen flex, very sturdy hinge as well. Excellent keyboard with amazing key travel, spacing, size, and quiet! The great selection of I/O on this system also ensures that it will work with all of your newer devices using USB-C and older connections without the need for a dock or dongles! Though it should be noted that the USB-C does not support power delivery at this time. Charging on the go is still doable as the included power brick is still pretty lightweight for how powerful this AMD machine is! The batter in daily use (5-10 Chrome tabs, Word, Excel, other productivity software, YouTube, Netflix, Hulu) lasted over 8 hours with the brightness set to 40%, which was still easily view able in mid-day with a lot of sunshine. I attempted gaming on battery and with GTA V, I was able to get 2 hours before the low battery warning came on. If you're looking to do a good gaming session, bring the charger with! This machine handled GTA V on the highest settings at 1080P with an average of 90 FPS, lowest it dropped to was during the benchmark test and it briefly dropped to 48 FPS. CS:GO is silky smooth at the highest settings at 120+ FPS. Civ V came in at over 100 FPS at the highest settings. COD: BO II (older title) maxed out at 120 FPS and ultra-high settings for everything! This system was able to easily tackle any game that is a little older and was able to hold at 60 FPS for newer titles like Shadow of the Tomb Raider (65 FPS, High settings). For productivity/content: the fans do kick on and can be quite loud if you're doing any processor intensive task for an extended period of time at full power but the included Armoury Crate allows you to choose or build your preferred balance of power, battery, noise, graphics, or just go all out in Turbo mode. Words of caution: the fans will run at full speed under heavier load but Turbo mode WILL considerably speed up your machine! Large Excel spreadsheets and massive database files are no match for this mobile powerhouse and it will be able to handle Photoshop and Premier with relative ease (1080P renders, 4K is still impressive). I would highly recommend this system to anyone looking for a thin and lighter system for heavy productivity and good casual gaming, at home or on the go! Asus just gained another citizen of the Republic!

Q: QuestionIs the 16GB RAM single or dual channel? Also, are there extra slots for adding more SSDs?
Asked by Bestfully.
- A:Answer 16gb is dual channel. One is 8gb soldered onto the motherboard, the other is a removable 8gb stick. There is an extra m.2 slot that supports sata or nvme.
Answered by benchmark
Q: QuestionCan I put a hdd inside this laptop?
Asked by Tyler.
- A:Answer Don't listen to some of the answers here. There are two m.2 / NVMe storage slots on the motherboard, with one being populated with a 512GB NVMe SSD and the 2nd slot is empty. You can easily install a second PCIe Gen3 NVMe SSD at least up to 2TB. NVMe SSD's are 100X better than a traditional hard drive, and PCIe NVMe's are usually about 10X faster than traditional 2.5" SATA SSD's. You WANT PCIe NVMe rather than a SATA HDD slot. Also, if you're wondering, the 16GB RAM is using two 8GB memory modules, one is soldered to the motherboard while the other 8GB module is in a slot and can be replaced with either a 16GB or 32GB module, giving you a total of 24GB or 32GB of memory. Put that into perspective, this is a quad-core AMD Ryzen 7 mobile laptop that costs $899 right now, and for another $300, you could upgrade it to 40GB of RAM and 2.5TB of really fast SSD storage, all in a thin and light package with a dedicated GPU. I wish they'd re-release this with Ryzen 7 3780U processor, 16GB memory module on the motherboard an a 1TB PCIe NVMe SSD, maybe a non-MaxQ GPU (although I understand the power and thermal issues), maybe an RTX=2070/2080. I love the form factor of this machine, and it could easily keep up with the Thicc-boi high end gaming laptops if it were refreshed with the top of the AMD/Nvidia mobile products and large base SSD and RAM. I'd gladly pay another $400 for a newer top of the line model. All said, you would be hard pressed to find another NEW laptop in the thin-and-light class that comes remotely close to this machines specs and gaming performance for under $900. I mean, a 12.9" wi-fi only iPad Pro with only 64GB of storage costs $100 more than this laptop!

Q: QuestionI cant run games like CS:GO, Overwatch, and Insurgency even at the lowest settings. I’ve even tried to play games that some of the reviewers claim run well on this laptop. Could I have gotten a lemon? Is there something I’m missing?
Asked by Marshall.
- A:Answer Try going into the NVIDIA control panel and go to the 3D settings and the options from choose automatically to NVIDIA processor. If you don't have the control panel the download the NVIDIA GeForce Experience. But the computer should have come with it on there, mine did.

Q: QuestionHow well does this run triple A title games ? The specs look magnificent on paper , but how well does it hold up to its name ? Does this game as smooth as an Xbox one or PlayStation ? Or is it a little bit worst ? Is there any lag or choppiness ?
Asked by Trey.
- A:Answer Depending on the game Fornite/PUBG run well on ultra/high, games like Anthem runs in the 30's on high and 60's on med. In general all games run smoother that a console with higher frames but keep in mind that some newer titles like Rage 2 gives top cards like a GeForce RTX 2070 a problem when running in ultra.
