Strong Mid-Range Gaming Laptop
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The laptop is fast thanks to its 16GB of Ram, and games run incredibly smooth at max settings, you'll get good frame rates and resolution. Only downside to the laptop is battery life as it only lasts me about 2.5-3 hours on a full charge, but it's expected with gaming laptops.

Return Policy during Corona is flawed.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased the laptop on April 29. Missed the return deadline by 7 days. I thought with the Corona Virus, I'd have more time to get back to the store to return it. Most stores are offering extended return dates as a result of the Corona. As I am at high risk for contracting the virus, I wasn't comfortable or even able to obtain transportation to the store to return the item. The laptop wasn't even used but twice, as the software needed for the homeschooling was on an Apple, not a PC. I can't review the actual product, as I haven't used it for more than 20 minutes in total. I purchased this for my daughter to use in graphic design. Turns out, they were using graphic design on an iMac with Adobe and the software doesn't translate over to PC.

Unfortunate and disappointed
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this laptop open box. I was not concerned about the cosmetics of it, more so was wanting the performance. I didn’t use it much until I left for my trip out of the country 4 days later. When I arrived at my destination and get settled in I go to turn on the laptop, and nothing, the caps lock button is solid white. I do some research and find out a solution is to take off the back cover and reset the CMOS battery. Hands on IT work is apart of what I do so I didn’t have any issues doing this. Nor should it break the warranty with the manufacturer. The solution works and I continue to use the laptop. Not but two days later it happens again and I have to attempt the fix. It works and I’m hoping it’s the last of it all. About a week later I’m browsing the internet and notice the laptop is getting extremely warm, the fans aren’t kicking on and I shut it down. Let it cool off for about an hour or so then go try to turn it back on. This time nothing for good. I attempted the fix that previously worked but it’s not happening. Due to the fact that I traveled out of the country I could not bring it back to a Best Buy with in the 15 days to get a full refund. I’m quite dissatisfied and disappointed that my product broke as quickly as it did. My understanding of open box was always that the performance shouldn’t be an issue but it seems I am wrong about that. I am satisfied with how the laptop preformed when I had the chance to use it, just find it a little ridiculous that it broke not but a week into owning it. I plan on sending it to the manufacturer when I return to use the warranty that came with with but that’s not for another 7 weeks. If anyone from Best Buy or ASUS sees this review and reads it, and could offer some solution other than waiting the 7 weeks it would be greatly appreciated.

Posted .Dear Valued Customer,
We certainly understand your disappointment and the inconvenience this may have caused you.
All brand-new ASUS products undergo intensive quality control testing and inspections, and are built to last, this is a random problem.
If the laptop will no longer boot up or it's just black screen, please do the following. Verify if the AC adapter is connected properly from the laptop to a known good power outlet or AC source. Try another known good power source.
Try to press and hold down the power button to shut it down completely, just in case laptop is not in hibernate mode, wait for at least 10 seconds then power on. Please wait, if the system is applying updates in the System Registry, it will black screen temporarily. If it still black screen after a few minutes, at least 10 minutes, please repeat the power cycle process again. Also, please try to disconnect the power cable and let the unit drain for 24 hours to clear the memory, without opening the case and removing the CMOS battery. This will reset the hardware to default settings. After doing this, please reconnect your AC adapter then power on the unit.
If you need more information or further assistance with the warranty for the product, please email me at [email protected] and I will be more than happy to help. Or, call Product Support Hotline at: 1(888) 678-3688. Also, you can chat with an ASUS live support agent at http://bit.ly/AsusLiveChat.
Thank you for choosing an ASUS product.

Core Clock Bug and Boot Issues
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Where do I even begin with this laptop...I have had two specific issues that completely ruins the experience with this laptop. First issue; Basically, this specific laptop has a core clock bug. Meaning, once it reaches a certain temperature, the CPU will limit it's speed until it cools down. Now, this is standard operating procedure for 99% of CPU's/systems out there, however once this laptop limits itself, it stays limited, specifically to 0.39GHz/400MHz. It will never unlimit itself until you restart the machine. This is not a Windows issues. This also occurs on Linux(recently tested with Ubuntu 20.04). This is a BIOS issue. ASUS has gone through 5-6 different BIOS updates since this product's launch, and it still hasn't fixed the issue. Now, recently there was a BIOS 302 update, this appears to have fixed this, but there are zero confirmations of such a thing, so to me this product is still broken. My warranty expires in a couple weeks and from what I've read online, if you send this laptop in for RMA, ASUS support will just reinstall the BIOS and send it back to you, all while you pay for shipping. So, don't bother RMA'ing as ASUS will NOT help you. Second issue; Infinite loading screen of death at BIOS. I have not added any additional M.2 drives to this laptop(until recently). It still has its main 512GB Intel 660p NVME drive installed in the primary slot. Now this issue is weird. The laptop will work fine for a couple of days, but every once in a while after rebooting, it will get stuck at the BIOS bootup and infinitely load a black screen, so your boot drive will never initialize. Only way to "fix" this is to hold down the power button, without the AC adapter plugged in, for 45 seconds. This clears the CMOS for the BIOS and you'll boot in to Windows being very angry at you for not booting up correctly. The only way I actually fixed this for consistent bootups is by adding a second M.2 drive to the secondary slot, then disable the primary Intel slot/drive, and install Windows/Linux on the secondary drive and use that for my boot drive. Again, you need to DISABLE the first M.2 drive in the BIOS from being a bootable option. Installing a new BIOS or resetting the BIOS to default settings will add the first drive back in as a bootable option and cause the infinite black screen to reoccur. I am not sure if it's a BIOS issue, a M.2 slot issues, a M.2 drive issue, or any combination. But it's a legitimate issue I've been having and I don't see this talked about much online. Honestly, I would never recommend this laptop to anyone, for any purpose. And I would never trust a ASUS product again after this experience. ASUS's inability to fix this clock bug in a timely fashion screams incompetence. I wish I could exchange this for an entirely different laptop, if not for a different vendor, then a different ASUS model would be fine. If I knew this would have been this much of a hassle dealing with these issues for a year now, I would have refunded this laptop day one.

Great after some work
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I was immediately impressed by this laptop. Looks and feels like a premium device. Display looks great, has really good sound quality, and has great specs for the price. Now for the reason I couldn’t give it 5 stars. Gaming on a gaming laptop should be simple. It shouldn’t take me a day of research trying to figure out why it’s throttling my cpu and gpu for no reason (making any game unplayable every 30 seconds) and then having to flash a new bios file on to it to fix it. It should have already been done. It’s a known issue but no recall or communication to fix it. I almost gave up and returned it until I found the fix. Been great since then but I wouldn’t recommend this laptop to anyone until ASUS fixes the issue.

Great All-Round Computer!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently bought this computer for more than just basic use. I use it for everything from surfing the web, writing papers, running DJ software (Serato DJ Pro), to light gaming, watching movies, and photo/video editing. I keep all my photos, videos, and music all on am external SSD. This computer hasn't had any hiccups and as been fast and reliable. It has been a great purchase. The only thing I've read, is that people should replace the wi-fi card to a better one. I plan to do that in the future since serviceability are fairly straight forward.

Portability and Power!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Asus ROG Zephyrus G is a great overall laptop and perfect for casual gamers or on-the-go dedicated gamers. The slim lightweight design paired with the marriage of NVIDIA's GeForce 1660 Ti Max Q dedicated graphics card and AMD's RYZEN 7 processor make this an excellent choice for anyone needing a good balance of power and portability in their gaming laptop. The laptop comes in a very sturdy clamshell box with a handle for easy carrying. Included is the charging cable and warranty information. I’m very pleased with the design, look and feel of the laptop. There is no webcam but honestly most built-in laptop webcams are subpar anyway so not having one is a non-issue for me. The screen has a nice matte finish to reduce glare and reflection and features minimal bezels. The screen itself looks nice and can support 1920 x 1080 with 120Hz FHD but the colors don’t look as bright and vivid as they do on other screens on the market. The overall build appearance looks good to me. I like that it has a more conservative gamers laptop look with just a touch of flare with the ROG logo that glows red. The lid is a brushed metal, and looks great but is somewhat prone to fingerprints, although that doesn’t really bother me too much. It has an excellent illuminated keyboard with a white backlight. The spacing and size are perfect for my hands and the keys are nice and quiet. Performance wise, I have no complaints and am very pleased. The Zephyrus pairs an AMD Ryzen 3750H CPU with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti GPU. This combination allows for stable mainstream framerates with excellent gaming performance. I’ve played a good assortment of games and they all look amazing with mostly solid framerates while most of the graphics settings were turned all the way up for many of the games. The speakers on this laptop are nice and loud with a rich clear sound while sitting at a desk or table but the sound is easily muffled if the laptop is sitting in your lap since the speakers are downward firing. The Zephyrus G is a perfect laptop for gamers like myself who don’t want to spend a fortune on a gaming laptop but want to be able to play most games without any problems. If portability, power and price are key factors for you, you should consider purchasing this laptop.
